New Scene(@Previously_on_Trigamon) {

Benjy and Ciri are talking to Eileen and her Grandmother on the castle balcony.

Ciri: Before we go, there’s some information that we need to exchange.

Refresh THIS

Eileen: Disturbance in the Anima?  What does that mean, grandma?

Eileen’s Grandmother: It means the DWMA  doesn’t know the specifics.  It may not have to do with the Tree of the World’s Beginning, but it probably does.

Eileen: Ciri, we should keep in touch.

Ciri instinctively pulls out her pokégear, and holds it up to Eileen’s pokénav, and both devices suddenly go into error mode.

Eileen: Um…

Ciri holds down a button on the side of her pokégear, and holds in up to Eileen’s pokénav again, and this time a chime sounds, indicating that the address has been registered.

Ciri: A friend of mine from school was with a group that was looking for it, or some of it.

Kidd: Don’t make us leave without you!

Ciri: HOLD ON!

}

New Scene()

At the Tree of the World’s Beginning, Pikachu rests on a bed of leaves on one of the "leaves" of the tree.  Nearby are a pile of toys.  Mew floats around watching Pikachu as it sleeps soundly.  Pikachu rolls over in the bed of leaves, and it’s ears twitch as Mew flies away to another leaf.

As soon as Mew is gone, Pikachu sits up, showing that it was only pretending to sleep, and starts to examine one of the objects.

New Scene(@Temporal = Morning)

Kidd’s humvee rumbles through the morning.  Ash stares out the window, fully awake.  In nearby seats, Yami Benjy, May, Max, and Brock are all half-asleep.  Ciri looks around in her seat, observing all of this/

Ciri: And this is what happens when you have to leave so early in the morning.

Ciri checks the time on her pokégear, which shows that it’s the equivalent of nine-o’clock.

Ciri: It’s been about fifteen minutes since we left…

Ash: Kidd, how far is it to the tree?

Kidd: I’m not sure exactly.  I’d think it will take us a couple of hours.

QST.camera now zooms out all the way to show a map of Hoenn.  As the narrator talks through the following segment, places highlight on the map and numbers are displayed to show distances.

Narrator: Wait, a couple of hours?  It took them several days in the original movie, so one might wonder what’s going on?  Ash and company have to travel 105 miles, into the south of Hoenn to get to the Tree of the World’s beginning.  To put this into perspective, it’s about 30, that’s three, zero, miles from Petalburg to Oldale, so our allies have to go about three and a half time that distance.

During this next segment, QST.camera shows the map of Hoenn from the pokémon games, then transforms it, first into the Pokémon anime Hoenn map, and then into the Trigamon anime Hoenn map, where several new cities and areas sprout up across it.

Narrator: Also note that the maps from Pokémon™ games are inaccurate for our purposes.  They’ve been adjusted via something called scale theory, in which more important places to the story are given more space on the map.

Narrator: The last thing to mention is that Kidd is traveling about forty miles per hour.  So with a quick calculation…

QST.camera zooms in on Kidd’s speed gauge, before shifting to Kidd with her eyes on the road.  Suddenly the humvee hits something and bumps

Narrator: …it looks like it will take us about 150 minutes.  Note that this was originally a movie, which means neither Orunduran nor the Tree of the World’s beginning were actually given a set location in Hoenn, and thus the producers could make the journey take as long as they wanted.

Lucario now approaches Kidd, and points out something.  Kidd sees this, and changes her direction slightly.

Kidd: Guys, Lucario says the best way to get there is along the coast.

Ciri: Huh?

Kidd: It’s a bit of a roundabout, but there’s a clearly defined road for much more of the way.  We’ll be able to go faster.

Ash: I don’t know…

Lucario: We’re going to be dealing with a lot of rough terrain going as the Murkrow flies.

Max: Then I think that might be a good idea…

Max gestures to Benjy sitting behind him, looking a bit carsick.  Brock immediately agrees with Max, then closes his eyes and puts his head back.  Ash just stares out the window, almost with tears in his eyes.  He turns to Ciri sitting behind him.

Ash: And what happens if Pikachu’s not there?

Ciri: That’s unlikely.  Pikachu are intelligent though.  If you don’t find it, it’ll find you.

From the aisle with unease, Lucario stares at Ciri and Ash interacting.

Lucario: You don’t actually believe that, do you?

Ciri: The distance is too great even for Flygon to fly, but I should be able to search the area around the tree from the air.

Ciri: Lucario?

Lucario: What you just said…  "If you don’t find it, it’ll find you."

Ciri: Hm?

Lucario: You’re lucky I owe you my freedom–

Ciri flinches, and from where he is sitting, Benjy looks up.

Benjy: What??

Ciri stares back at Lucario confused.

Ciri:

Lucario: Never-mind.

Brock: Lucario, she didn’t mean to imply–

Lucario: I know.  Never-mind.

Ciri scratches her head again.

May: Hey Kidd, we should probably take a break soon.

Kidd: Something wrong?

May: Well, Benjy looks a bit…  err…

Max: Carsick.

Benjy: I’m fine.

May: But if you throw up–

Benjy: I just look and feel as if I’m going to.

Kidd: I’m rolling down the window.

Kidd presses a button and the window starts to roll down.

Benjy: That just makes it worse.

At Benjy’s comment, Kidd hits the button in the other direction and the window starts rolling back up.  This is quickly followed by a loud crunching sound.

Refresh Scene()

Kidd quickly stops the humvee, and Kidd and Benjy jump out to see what the sound was.  Brock follows Benjy out the passenger’s side door to inspect the humvee, whilst Benjy and Kidd make sure they didn’t hit anything.

Brock carefully walks around the humvee, and notes that there’s no blood.  Benjy and Kidd walk backwards from the humvee checking the ground.  Satolite flies alongside Benjy, scanning with electromagnetic waves.  QST.camera now shifts back inside the humvee as Max stares out the back, nervously.

Brock stops by and inspects the back fender of the humvee, before returning inside the humvee via the passengers’ side door.

Ash: Find anything?

Brock shakes his head

Brock: M-m.  Nothing’s broken, and more importantly, no blood.

Ciri squirms as Brock says this, and Max watches her.  QST.camera now zooms out through the back of the humvee to where Benjy and Kidd are.  Both are carefully inspecting the ground, but finding nothing.

Kidd: Odd…

Benjy: It probably was a branch or something.

Kidd: Something long dead?

Benjy: And wooden.

Benjy points to a tree branch up the road a ways.

Benjy: I think we hit that, pushed it over that dip there, and the weight of the humvee broke it.

Kidd: Great…  More wasted effort.

Kidd turns back and starts towards the humvee, while Benjy continues moving forwards.

Kidd: Benjy?

Benjy: Just want to double-check.

Kidd turns around again while Benjy darts towards the branch, nods, and darts back.

Benjy: Yup, I can say it was that branch we hit with 90 percent certainty.

Kidd: And the other ten percent?

Benjy: Nine point nine percent on some other branch.

Kidd: That’s good enough for me.

Benjy and Kidd now start walking back to the humvee.

Benjy: Technically could’ve been a fossil, but…

Refresh Scene()

Kidd and Benjy re-board the bus, and take their respective seats.

May: What happened?

Kidd: Nothing.  We just drove over a big branch.

Kidd starts the engine, but the tires of the humvee spin in the mud.

Ash: Um–

Kidd: Relax.  I’ll just enable the four-wheel drive.

Kidd flips a switch, and a split-second later the humvee starts with a jolt.

New Scene()

QST.camera looks out through the front window of the humvee from the second row as the humvee races over the plains.  By now the fog is starting to clear.  Brock fiddles with Max’s pokénav.

Brock: The Hoenn geological survey says the ground is highly unstable up ahead, I suggest we go the coast route.

Ash: But Brock–

Suddenly a hot spring erupts from the ground behind the humvee cutting Ash off mid-sentence.

Ash: You want to go *closer* to the coast?!

Benjy: The ground there can support our weight.

Ash: But the coast means more water!

Brock: But that water won’t be beneath us!

Kidd: I’m more inclined to agree with Ash.  It doesn’t seem…

Another hot spring erupts from the ground behind Kidd, and another a few hundred feet from the humvee’s path.

Benjy: Take the coastal route or I’m moving to another show!

Kidd turns around to face Benjy, who is glaring at her.

Kidd: Okay, okay!

Suddenly, another hot spring erupts right in front of the humvee.  Kidd screams as she drives right into it, slightly off centered, such that the hot spring forces the humvee about three feet into the air.  Benjy and Lucario quickly tackle the side of the humvee forced more into the air more to prevent the humvee from tipping over.

Kidd: Okay I’m taking the coastal route.

Lucario: Then make a right at the next canyon.

Kidd: That one?

Lucario: The next one after that.

Kidd suddenly jerks the steering wheel slightly to avoid another geyser.  QST.camera zooms out, as Kidd prepares to drive into the canyon.  Standing on top of the rock walls, a mysterious figure is watching the humvee, but teleports away about one second (real time) after the camera spots him.

New Scene()

Ash stares out of the window as the humvee drives through the canyon.  The humvee’s wheel strikes a rock and jolts it, causing Benjy to look even more sick.  Ash grits his teeth in frustration.  Lucario now turns backwards towards Benjy.

Lucario: Do you think we’ll find out what happened to Aaron?

Benjy: I don’t know, and it doesn’t really matter what I think at this point.

Lucario: What do you mean?

Benjy: As far as I can’t tell the day-to-day world isn’t affected by our wishes.  It’s not like I’m writing our stories.

Lucario: Tsk…

Lucario: But I suppose it’s an honest reply.  It’s no surprise that no one likes honesty.

QST.camera shifts to Ash looking out the window.

}

For about ten seconds after the song ends, the humvee rumbles on in silence, then something lands with a gentle clunk on the humvee’s roof.

May: Did we hit something?!

Benjy: Probably a rock.

Max: It sounded like something overhead.

Benjy: Then probably was just something in the roof expanding due to the warmer temperatures.  Nothing to worry about.

Ash clenches his teeth, then takes a deep sigh.

Ash: Hey Ciri, anything from Eileen?

Ciri pulls out her pokégear and checks it.

Ciri: Mm…  One new message…

May: They found Pikachu?

Ciri: No, it’s from a friend from school.

Ash clenches his fist again, before relaxing it.

Ash: Can you scry Pikachu then?

Ciri: Scry…?

Brock: Scry, as it view a distant location remotely.

Ciri: I’ve never heard that term before.

Lucario: Basically scrying observing a far away location with magic.

Ciri: How would I do that?!

Brock: Uh…  I don’t know.  It’s magic, isn’t it.

Ciri hangs her head with dark lines on her forehead.

Ciri: Yes and no.

Ciri: Seeing what’s somewhere else would mean that I would have to copy light frequencies from an unknown location.  In effect it would be an illusion that’s determined by an external parameter.

Ash: I don’t know what all of that means but…

Ciri pulls out a notebook and starts sketching a diagram of how such a spell would work.

Ciri: In effect…  I’d need (A) two parameterized sections of space, one to copy from and one to paste into.

Benjy: And then you’re going to have to be able to move the location from which you’re copying around everywhere until you find Pikachu.

Ciri nods.

Ciri: Just copy-paste light, right?

Lucario: How big can you make this window?

Ciri: I think I can make it 729 inches.  It would be nine by nine by nine.

Brock: That’s 3D though.

Ciri: We live in a 3D world, Brock.  I’m copying from 3D space.

Brock: Right but it’s just a 2-dimensional window.

Ciri: It still needs depth or the photons won’t fit!  But I see what you’re saying…  I can collapse the depth to a micron, which means twelve by twelve is suddenly doable.

Ciri: …at my power level.

Ash seems to light up at this.

Lucario: So you’ll search this entire region through a twelve by twelve window?

Brock: If we search from high enough it might work.

Lucario: Right.  Ciri, how long can you keep this spell going for?

Ciri: Hold on, I’m still not ready to compute the rune costs…

Ash: What does that mean?

Max: Runes hold magic power.

Ciri nods slightly.

Ciri: Twelve by twelve should burn through a cosmic rune in 30 seconds, so you’ll have five and a half minutes if we do this.

Ash: What do you mean, if?

Lucario: Five and a half minutes isn’t enough to search even the outside of the Tree of the World’s Beginning.  What if you made the window six by six?

Ciri: That should double the time per rune, so eleven minutes.

Brock: But Ciri, that’s a quarter of the size.

Ciri: I know that.  It’s not directly proportional.

Lucario: And Pikachu could be inside the tree also.  That would take a lot longer to search.

QST.camera split-screens to show the expressions of surprise of Ash, May, Max, and Brock, before returning to normal.

Lucario: And then the more pressing question.  How far could you scry without law runes.

Kidd: Just trust me Ash, your Pikachu is at the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Ash: But if he’s not–

Kidd: There’s literally nowhere else it could be.

Kidd: It’s there, Ash.

Ash: How do you know?

Kidd: I picked up it’s signature on my scanner.

Ash: Oh, let me see!

Ash gets up and rushes towards where Kidd is driving the humvee.

Ash: Where!

The humvee makes a loud noise as Kidd drives over some rocks as Kidd points out a light to Ash on her dashboard.  Ash immediately looks much more relieved, and goes back to sit down.

Yami Benjy: That’s her "check engine" light.

Max: (at Kidd) Liar, liar, pants on fire.  There’s no way you can scan that far.

Benjy: Ciri, we don’t need a scrying spell, what we need is a locator. (Whisper)

Ciri: That I can do, but it’s tricky… (Whisper)

Benjy: How does it work? (Whisper)

Ciri: I have to wait until we stop. (Whisper)

Meanwhile, Ash is slouching in his seat with his head in his hands, staring at the light on the dashboard.

Ash: So for sure Pikachu is…  Wait a minute.  That’s her "check engine" light.  So unless she reprogrammed it…  She’s either really smart or really stupid.

Ciri: Anyway, as I was saying, it will have to wait until we stop for lunch.  (whisper)

Benjy: So you draw a magic circle?  (whisper)

Ciri: In effect, yes.  An ornate circle.  It’s a fairly low power spell too.  (whisper)

Max: What are you two lovebirds whispering about?

This comment gets May and Brock to turn towards Benjy and Ciri.

Ciri: W-what?

Benjy: We’re having a highly technical discussion, Max.

Max: I see…

Max’s glasses shine, reflecting light coming into the humvee through the window.

Max: Then why are you whispering.

Ciri: So we wouldn’t disturb you.  I’m trying to develop a plan for dealing with the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Brock: Why would you guys whisper about that though?

Ciri: We’re working on one specific logistic.

Max: How you’re going to sneak away and make out?

This comment earns a strange look from Brock.  Ciri glares at Max, and then suddenly stands up and walks over to Max, nearly loosing her balance as the humvee jolts upon hitting a rock.

Ciri: We also need to have a talk.

Ciri undoes Max’s seatbelt, and quickly scoops him up, before darting to the back of the humvee with surprising agility.  May sighs, and starts to put her arm down where Max was sitting, only to realize she’s resting it on Zumi, whom doesn’t seem to mind.  Lucario turns around to talk to Benjy.

Lucario: So is it going to work?  (whisper)

Benjy: We didn’t get a chance to figure out how to manage the distance.  My guess is it’s just going to take a bunch of runes to increase the radius.  (whisper)

QST.camera moves over to Ash, May, and Brock’s side of the humvee.

May: Wait, so Benjy and Lucario–

Brock: I’m getting the feeling that they really are discussing logistics.

Ash: Thanks you guys…

QST.camera moves back to where Ciri is holding Max in the seat next to her so he can’t escape.

Max: Ciri, I was kidding!  I know you weren’t actually planning to–

Ciri: We still need to talk.

New Scene()

The humvee rumbles through the canyon, making visible progress.  The canyon now ends and the humvee rumbles through a field towards a small one-lane-in-each-direction highway.  Kidd puts her blinker on as she prepares to merge onto the highway.

QST.camera changes angle as the humvee makes an 80º turn to point south in the direction of the highway, before moving inside the humvee as Ash’s stomach grumbles.  May and Brock both turn around.

Brock: Ash, you want to stop for lunch?

Ash: Not hungry…

Kidd: We can’t stop here anyway.

The road now winds over a ledge on the side of the cliff with sand and water far below.

May: Why not?

Kidd: I’ll you when you’re older.

May: Lair (under her breath)

Kidd hears this comment but doesn’t react.

Kidd: There’s a beach up ahead where we can stop for lunch.

Brock: Hm?  How far?

Kidd: Four miles as of that sign.

Kidd points out the window of the humvee at a rapidly approaching sign.

New Scene(@Temporal = Noon)

The waves crash gently against the sand.  QST.camera turns around slowly to show that the humvee is parked off of the main road in an area of dirt and grass.  May is first out of the humvee, followed by Lucario and then Benjy.  Benjy shivers slightly, looking slightly sick.  Ash is next out, followed by Brock.  Lucario sees a large boulder and leaps atop of it to sit and watch the waves.

Ash: Couldn’t we have lunch on the road?

Brock: It’s been bumpy though…

Benjy: And I doubt I could keep much down.

Ash shivers slightly at this comment, as Max climbs out of the humvee.

Ash: How long will it take to get lunch ready?

Brock: Shouldn’t be too long.

Ash sits down in the sand against a rock to watch Brock start to make lunch, while Ciri and Max come out of the humvee behind him.

Max: Where do you want to do it?

Ciri: We need to find a large open space–Benjy!

Benjy looks up.

Refresh Scene()

Benjy, Ciri, and Max stand in a flat area of sand, and Ciri hands them each a piece of paper with a strange symbol on it:

Pasted Graphic.pdf

The symbol above is a rough approximation, missing details between the two outer circles.

Ciri: It’s not prefect, but it should locate Pikachu.  The only issue is if there is an extremely large number of electric-type pokémon somewhere

Max: How large a number?

Ciri: Large enough that it overrides the selector.  They’d all have to be in the same place.

Benjy: But how many?

Ciri: I don’t know.  256?  The selector will glow with red light if it’s overridden.

Max: I see…

Ciri: Actually it would probably be more orange-ish.  It should be a yellow green if it isn’t.

Benjy: And we’re going to draw this in the sand?

Max nods.

Max: Then we power it up with runes and it will tell us where Pikachu is.

Ciri: Can you guys stand back?

Benjy and Max stand back as Ciri bends down with air, earth, and fire runes.  She places her palm on the sand, and suddenly a wave of energy shoots out of the runes evening out the sand.

Ciri: It doesn’t have to be perfect, remember.

Benjy: But how are we going to get to the inside?

Ciri: Just walk on it.  While this spell is active, you can’t change the sand unless you want to.

Max: In effect, the wind won’t mess it up.

Refresh Scene()

On the beach, Ash is resting against a rock next to Brock who is making lunch.  May is sunbathing nearby.  About twenty feet away, behind the large rock, Benjy, Ciri, and Max are still working on creating the symbol, joined by Jirachi and Satolite.

Max: Ciri, should I put in another selector?

Ciri: The concern is that that will then use too much power.

Max: But those just run on mind runes, right?

Ciri: This one’s integrated into the system, so it’s going to run on the system’s power.

Benjy: Could we do it externally?

Satolite beeps slightly, signaling it’s pondering the same thing.

Ciri: That could weaken the signal to the point that it’s useless though…  And if we add one into the system it’ll use exponentially more power.

Back with everyone else, Kidd exits the humvee and lies down in the sand next to May on a towel.

Kidd: You’ve got the right idea…

May: ?

Kidd: Just don’t look into the sun, okay?

May nods slightly.

May: Does she think I’m that stupid?

QST.camera shifts back to Benjy, Max, and Ciri, whom have now almost finished the glyph in the sand.

Max: Ready?

Ciri: Almost…  I still have the lower ring to do.  You can get out the runes though.

Max walks over to Ciri’s bag.

Max: Which ones?

Ciri: Cosmics in the outer ring, inside will need earth and airs.  Two of each.

Max opens Ciri’s bag and begins extracting the runes as Ciri draws the final symbols into the sand.

Ciri: Now don’t touch it while it’s glowing.  It’s going to be hot!

Benjy: I’ll keep an eye on the selector.

Ciri now positions herself such that she is standing outside the outer circle, then gets down on her hands and knees again such that her hand is at a 45º angle with the ground, and her arm is lined up with the cosmic rune corresponding to the circle on the right side of the glyph.

Ciri: Keep careful watch of that selector.  It should glow for only a second.

Benjy: An entire second?

Ciri: Right, one second.  Here goes.

Max and Benjy take a step back as Ciri prepares to activate the symbol.

Ciri: Tesserum codod.  Lex mit…

Ciri flicks her finger in the direction of the selector.  She then closes her eyes for a split second.

Ciri: Trion!

Immediately, the glyph lights up with yellow light, save for the selector which is mostly yellow, but a tiny bit green.  The symbols on the runes now disappear, and the light fades, except for the nine-pointed star, which continues to glow green.  As Benjy, Ciri, and Max watch, the light travels up the attached symbol into the double circle, then shoots into the air in the direction of the Tree of the World’s Beginning.  All three watch as the light shoots off into the distance growing fainter.

Ciri: Benjy, was the selector overridden?

Benjy: It was yellow.

Ciri: Yellow-orange or yellow green?

Benjy: Yellow-yellow.

Ciri looks flustered at this comment.  The millennium gameboy advance shines softly.

Yami Benjy: Slightly greenish compared to the rest of the circle, but mostly yellow.

Ciri now breathes a sigh of relief.

Ciri: We didn’t override it then.

Max: So does that mean?

Ciri: Pikachu’s almost certainly there.

Ciri sighs again, and Max rushes off to tell Ash.

Brock: Hey guys!  Lunch!

Benjy and Ciri abandon the glyph and walk over to have lunch.  As they approach everyone else, a low rumbling pulses through the beach.

Ash: What was that?

Ash is immediately answered as Ciri’s glyph explodes in a plume, throwing sand into the air in all directions.  Ash and company duck to avoid the flying sand, though most of it is picked up by the wind and blown down the beach.

Ciri: I forgot to ground it!

Max: And now there’s sand in the food.

The glyph gives one more pop and then lies silent, but this doesn’t stop Ciri from striking the area with wind strike multiple times to make sure the sand isn’t going to explode again.

Ash: So Pikachu really is at the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Ciri: The margin of error of that spell is one in ten thousand, and given that angle…

Ash: Then…

New Scene()

A mysterious humanoid with giant ears that jut out to it’s sides (a sky-elf) sees the bolt of green light whilst levitating in mid air..

Sky Elf: Now that’s worth checking out.

New Scene()

The humvee rumbles along the coastal road again, past beach after beach.  QST.camera zooms down on a sign that says that the Tree of the World’s Beginning exit is 60 miles down the road.

Onboard the humvee, Ciri nibbles on a sandwich, taking extremely small bites.  Ash continues to stare out the window, looking slightly less uneasy than he had previously.  The humvee now hits a bump and, due to it’s speed, everyone aboard is jostled.  One of May’s poké balls is knocked off of her belt onto the floor of the humvee, and Skitty emerges and immediately starts chasing it’s tail.  Another bump knocks Skitty off-balance and it falls to the floor, dizzy, allowing May to scoop it up.

May: Gotcha.

Skitty: Meow…

At the same time, something causes Yami Benjy to look up.

Yami Benjy: Excuse me…

Yami Benjy gets up from his seat and quickly walks to the back of the humvee.  As he does, Lucario appears to sense some kind of aura and leaps to his side.

Kidd: What’s the matter?

Lucario: Something’s not right…

The humvee bumps again.

Ciri: Keep your eyes on the road!

Kidd follows Ciri’s direction as Yami Benjy and Lucario continue to stare out the back of the humvee.

Yami Benjy: I sense a disturbance in the force…

QST.camera now zooms out to something following the humvee, zipping about too fast to be seen.  QST.camera now returns to aboard the humvee as Lucario points out to Kidd that the exit that they need to take is approaching.

Lucario: After this rock.

Kidd nods.  As Kidd passes the cliff, she slows down and makes a left turn onto a mostly-overgrown dirt path.  As she drives along, branches scrape the outside of the humvee.

Ash: Pikachu…

Kidd: Hold on Ash, we’ll get there soon!

Kidd steps on the gas, causing the humvee to rocket forwards, jarring all of her passengers.  Yami Benjy continues to stare out the back, keeping an eye out for whatever was behind them.  After a few seconds (real time), Yami Benjy appears to see it again, briefly.

Yami Benjy: You’re not driving this fast to get away from…

Kidd: Huh?

Yami Benjy: Nevermind…

Outside of Ash’s window, a geyser erupts from the ground, as May and Max watch it, concerned.  At the same time, Kidd drives out of the forest into a semi-forested grassy plain.  Max worries aloud if Kidd knows where she’s going, but the later says that she does, and sends out a pod to confirm her, pointing out to where the pod is displaying the data that it’s relaying to Max.

Max: Awesome!

This comment is immediately followed by the monitor bringing up an error.

Ash: What was that?

Yami Benjy: It probably crashed–

Kidd: That’s impossible, the program is–

Yami Benjy: –into something.

Kidd looks back to see if she can see her pod out the backside.  This lasts for about 2 seconds (real time).  As Kidd is looking backwards, the road makes a sharp turn around a large pond/hot spring.  Kidd fails to realize this as she drives straight towards the hot spring.

Brock: Kidd!

Kidd: Huh?

Kidd turns around, gasps, but now it’s too late.  The humvee crashes into the water, submerging itself two thirds of the way before Kidd can slam on the brakes, bringing the humvee to a stop.

Brock: Kidd…

To make matters worse, the humvee now proves not to be water tight, as water shoots in through the floorboards, doors, windows, et cetera.  Yami Benjy creates a barrier around himself to keep himself dry.

May: Kidd!  What do we do?!

Kidd: Let me think!  Let me think!

Brock: We don’t have time to think!

Zumi: Azu!

Cutscene() { Jirachi awakens in Max’s backpack to find it soaked. }

Yami Benjy: Right now we need to get out of here.

Yami Benjy starts to open the trunk.

Max: If you do that all the water will rush in!

Ciri: Max, it’s coming in anyway!

Lucario jumps to Yami Benjy’s side to help him open the trunk, but before they can unlock it, the humvee is suddenly teleported.

New Scene()

Water pours out of the humvee, which is now on solid ground about twenty feet from the edge of the pond.  And and company quickly disembark the humvee, along with Kidd and Jirachi.  Jirachi shakes itself off as soon as it emerges from the humvee, getting May, Max, and Ciri even wetter.

Max: Hey!

Ciri chuckles.

Ciri: If Jirachi hadn’t gotten us out of there, who knows what would have happened.

May: Of course this whole thing could have been avoided if a certain someone was paying attention to where they were going.

Kidd: You want to drive?

Yami Benjy: Relax, no one’s going anywhere right now.

Ash: Why do you say that?

Yami Benjy: The van needs to dry out before we can go anywhere…

Max: Are you forgetting about Pikachu?

Yami Benjy: No, I mean, it won’t start until, excuse me, it won’t be able to start until it dries off.

Ash: What are we supposed to do?!

Yami Benjy: Help it dry out.

May: I’ll use Torchic!  Let’s go!

May calls on Torchic, but a Combusken pops out of the poké ball.

May: Wait…

Ciri: If you try to dry it with Combusken, it will explode!

May: Combusken?

Combusken: Combusken!

Combusken hugs May’s leg.

Max: May, your Torchic evolved in the battle last night.

May: It evolved?!  B-but?

Yami Benjy: In the meantime, help me get the hood up.

Ash and Ciri nod in agreement (to help) as May stands there staring at Combusken.

Lucario: I know the rest of the way.  I think I’m going to run ahead to lead you guys.

Max: Can you run that fast?

Lucario nods, just as Yami Benjy, Ash, and Ciri get the hood raised.

Ash: …And what are we supposed to do while we wait?

Max: We could go swimming…

Ciri: Where are Brock and Kidd?

Cutscene( Aura_Vision ) {

Lucario switches to aura vision to see right through the humvee into the tall grass beyond it.  In aura vision, QST.camera shows something that looks vaguely like: Kidd starting to take off her shirt.

}

Lucario: Their probably taking care of important business right now.

May: Whatever, I’m going swimming.

Refresh Scene()

Benjy lies down in the grass with his head against the base of a rock, while Ash, May, Max, Ciri and some of their pokémon relax in the hot spring, however Ash is only soaking his feet.

Ciri: Hey Benjy, why don’t you come into the water?

Benjy: I don’t have any swimwear.

Ciri: I have a spare swimsuit my bag…

Max: Ciri, I think that’s a bad idea.

May starts giggling.

Ciri: Yeah, it retrospect it probably wouldn’t fit.

Ciri now pulls herself out of the water and lies down in the grass with her feet still dangling in the water.  Ciri is wearing a blue one-piece swimsuit, with a frill around her waist, like a swim-dress.  Zumi’s tail floats nearby, as she searches the bottom of the hot spring for things to eat.  Zumi’s tail rubs against Ciri’s leg.

Ash: Do you guys think the engine’s dried out yet?

Benjy: I can go check, but it’s only been fifteen minutes, so I doubt it.

Benjy starts to get up.

May: Hey, what’s Croconaw staring at?

Ash and Benjy look towards May, then towards Croconaw, whom is staring at an odd plant high on the cliff.

Max: What is that?

Benjy: I don’t know.  Ciri, take a look at this.

Ciri yawns, and slowly pulls herself into a sitting position.

Benjy: You think it’s…

Ciri: Mew aqua?  Maybe…

Ciri now gets to her feet.

Max: Ciri?

Ciri: I’m going to check that out.

Ciri walks around the outside of the hot spring (on the side across the spring from the humvee, looking for the best way to climb the cliff to get the plant.  Eventually deciding on a path, she begins to scale the cliff.

May: Careful!

Benjy and Ash also look on nervously as Ciri scales the cliff.

Ciri: Okay, so step on that and…

Before Ciri can reach the plant, ripples appear and something knocks her off of the face of the cliff, and she tumbles into the hot spring.  The Sky-Elf from earlier now becomes visible as he plucks the plant from the cliff.

Sky-Elf: Sorry kids, I need this–

QST.camera split-screens as Ciri re-emerges from the water, pushing her hair out of her face, showing the expressions of Ash, May, Max, Benjy, Ciri, and Lucario.  On the cliff, the sky-elf starts to create the ripples again, but fails to use them to escape.  He looks down surveying Ash and company, before he tries the ripples again, and fails again.

Ash: You have some nerve!

Max: Who are you?!

Sky-Elf: Zark

The sky-elf tries to flee again, but is again unsuccessful.

Lucario: That’s not yours.

Sky-Elf: Again, zark.  Where is it coming from.  (mutter)

The sky-elf quickly glances upwards.

Sky-Elf: There.  (mutter)

The Sky-Elf leaps upwards off of the cliff, towards where Satolite is flying.  Before his attack can connect, Lucario strikes him with his aura sphere, knocking the sky-elf out of the sky and the plant out of his hand.  Down below, as the sky-elf falls, May grabs the flower, as the sky-elf crashes into the water.

Sky-Elf: Give that back!

May quickly hands the plant to Ciri as the sky-elf lunges at her (May); causing the sky-elf to turn to Ciri, pulling a strange dagger from his belt.

Sky-Elf: You!

The sky-elf starts to rush Ciri, who in response points her middle and pinky fingers at the sky-elf.

Ciri: Brissingr!

Before the sky-elf can reach her, the area around Ciri explodes in gigantic steamy explosion, causing the sky-elf to drop his dagger as he shields himself from the blast.  Still unable to see from the steam, Lucario strikes him twice with aura spheres, knocking him into the air, and out of the hot-spring, before the sky-elf can get to his feet and start deflecting the volley of aura spheres headed his way with his remaining dagger.

In an effort to counterattack, the sky-elf zips across the hot spring toward Lucario, but the millennium gameboy advance shines brightly, and Yami Benjy blocks the sky-elf’s dagger with his blade-mittens, eventually forcing the sky-elf away from him.

Lucario: You shouldn’t take things that don’t belong to you.

Sky-Elf: That logic doesn’t hold in times of war.

May: War?

Yami Benjy: Times of war…?

Sky-Elf: Do you even know what’s going on right now?

Ash: Huh?

Sky-Elf: I don’t think you do–

Ciri now has dried herself (somewhat) and changed back into her regular clothes.

Lucario: The war’s been over for two hundred and fifty years!

The sky-elf and Lucario now stare at each other in confusion.

Max: I don’t think you guys are on the same page.

Lucario: And I don’t understand how a time-flower will help you in battle…

Sky-Elf: Huh?

Lucario: That thing you were fighting over is called a time-flower.  It records the events that unfold around it, and then plays them back upon being opened.

The sky-elf sheaths his dagger and Yami Benjy undoes his blade-mittens.

Ciri: So if I open this…

Everyone’s attention is drawn to Ciri as she presses open the time-flower.  Light projects out across the hot spring in a dome, showing the battle over the time-flower replay on the projected dome.

Sky-Elf: That’s got to be mew-aqua…

The sky-elf rushes at Ciri again, who leaps aside.  Zumi takes this opportunity and blasts the Sky-Elf with an ice beam, freezing his bottom.

Ciri: Zumi!  Standby!

Zumi: Azu!

The sky-elf turns around towards Zumi, whom along with Ciri, suddenly pulses with a blue light.  Ciri jumps out of the way as Zumi sends the sky-elf crashing into the cliffside with a hydro pump.

Yami Benjy: Who are you anyway?

Sky-Elf: That’s none of your business…

The sky-elf is now unsuccessfully struggling to free himself from hydro pump.  He casts a dirty look at Satolite, then vanishes with the ripples.

Ash: Where’d he go?

Lucario: Not sure, but he’s unlikely to be coming back.

Zumi lets up her hydro pump, and she and Ciri let the blue light fade.

Max: You sure about that?

May: We got him good, Max.

Ciri now walks over to the humvee.

Lucario: Still we shouldn’t stay here.

May: But the humvee’s out of commission I thought…

Ciri: Should be nearly dry by now.

Ash: I’ve been waiting to hear that…

Ash now pulls himself out of the hot spring.

May: What about Brock and Kidd.

Ciri: They’re bound to hear the noise of the engine.

Ciri now boards the humvee, followed by Ash, Benjy, and Lucario, whom are then followed by May and Max.  As Ciri inspects the driver’s seat, she discovers Kidd left her keys in the ignition.  Ciri sits down in the driver’s seat and turns the key.  With this the humvee sputters to life, releasing a large cloud of steam.  Ash and May watch this development worriedly.

May: Is it okay?

Yami Benjy: Yeah, just give it a minute.

Croconaw now climbs into the humvee, followed by Combusken and Zumi.

Lucario: This way it will give Brock and Kidd some time to get back.

Refresh Scene()

With Ciri in the driver’s seat, Lucario prepares to lead the way.  Brock and Kid are behind a curtain at the back of the humvee, while Yami Benjy is sitting in the seat across from Ciri, wearing a headset.

Yami Benjy: Ready?

QST.camera split-screens to show a close-up of Lucario, whom is also wearing a headset.

Lucario: Ready!

Yami Benjy: Gotcha.

End(split-screen)

With this, Lucario starts to walk forward, and Ciri presses the gas pedal to follow him.  The humvee starts moving with a groan and then dies, which Lucario appears to be aware of.

Ash: Wait, did…

Ciri: Hold on.

Ciri does something with the humvee’s controls and the humvee starts again, and the hood suddenly flies up slightly, letting some steam out, before falling down back into place once the steam pressure is gone.  The humvee doesn’t die this time when Ciri starts to drive it forwards.

New Scene()

Ciri is driving the humvee through the forest as Yami Benjy keeps in touch with Lucario, and while Kidd and Brock stay behind the curtain, doing something, which no one else pays any attention to.

Narrator: Luckily for our allies, at least at the moment, it seems the planet of Fenrya has no minimum driving age, nor any concept of a driving test.  According to the guide here, this planet also has no concept of impaired judgment either…  "So one should never hitchhike…"  I’m not quite sure what that means.

QST.camera now moves through the curtain to where Kidd and Brock are in the back of the humvee.  Brock has fallen asleep on Kidd’s lap, just as Brock’s Mudkip is sleeping on the lap of one of Kidd’s Weavile, before moving back through the curtain again.

Yami Benjy: Lucario, are you okay?

*pause*

Yami Benjy: Okay.

Ciri: ?

Yami Benjy: He’s fine.  I’d like to ask someone else to take over the radio now.

Ash: I can, but why?

Yami Benjy: The creature we met at the hot spring; I have a feeling that we’re going to meet him again.  I’d like to have something prepared for when that happens.

May: Like what?

Ash gets up to take the headset from Yami Benjy.

Yami Benjy: I want to capture him.

May: Catch him?!

Max: You mean like a pokémon?

Yami Benjy: He knows about this strange "Mew Aqua" stuff.  We need to get  that information from him somehow.  Poké balls are just what we have to work with.

Yami Benjy now takes off the headset and hands it to Ash.

Lucario.headset: Ask Ciri if she’s comfortable going faster.  At this pace we won’t make it there before nightfall.

Ash.headset: Roger that.

Ash: Hey Ciri…

While Ash informs Ciri about Lucario’s calculation, Yami Benjy is now sitting down, doing something to a poké ball.

Ash.headset: Lucario, we’re speeding up!

With this, Ciri revs the engine and the humvee shoots forwards, prompting Lucario to start running faster.

New Scene(@Temporal = Late_Afternoon)

The humvee rolls over the hills towards the Tree of the World’s Beginning in the distance, which appears larger as the humvee rolls closer.

New Scene(@Temporal = Evening)

Ash and company have stopped the humvee to have dinner.  The Tree of the World’s Beginning shines in the distance ahead of them with a soft light, reaching up into the sky.  Lucario doesn’t sit with them, and stares off into the distance instead.

Lucario: That was the place…  Aaron, why did you…?

Lucario looks over at Ash, then switches to aura vision (which is shown on QST.camera), and then back to normal vision.

Lucario: Aaron said no two people’s aura could ever be the same…  But they look like a perfect match to me, so unless I remember wrong…  Or have I found an exception.  I wonder what Aaron would say.

Crickets chirps as QST.camera refocuses on Ash and company, and a Kriketot appears to lead them from a boulder.

Max: Everyone look!  It’s glowing!

Ash, May, Benjy, Ciri, and Brock turn to stare at the Tree of the World’s Beginning, as it glows in the night.

Kidd: They call that Fenyra’s Shimmer, but I’ve never seen it myself.

Ciri: Do you think it’s because of the Mew Aqua?

Brock: Could be a bunch of things.

Benjy nods.

Benjy: Fenyra’s Shimmer…

Benjy takes a long pause.

Benjy: Could be mew-aqua related, or it could be some kind of bio-luminescence.  Some kind of firefly or even a plant.

May: Way to kill the mood.

Benjy: I don’t think it kills the mood.  I just wish I had a camera.

May nods.

May: So romantic…

Benjy: I want to document the experience.

Ciri: It makes me nervous for some reason.

Ash: Why is that?

Ciri: I don’t know.  It just looks…  well…  volatile.

Brock: I never would have used that word to describe it.

Ash: I guess it might be a giant generator of some kind…

Benjy: Well, the glow is indicative of some kind of energy output.  Whether or not it’s coming from the tree is another story.

May: Could it be generating mew aqua?

Max: May you broke the code!

Benjy: Careful!  We don’t know that for sure yet.

Max: But what else could it be?

Benjy: Bio-luminescence–

Brock: You can argue about this later, dinner’s ready!

Ash and company start eating dinner except for May, who goes over to where Lucario is sitting.  QST.camera shifts to Lucario as May approaches him.  May gently puts her hand on Lucario’s shoulder.  Lucario then looks up startled, but not angry and blinks at May.

Lucario: Huh?

May: Dinner is ready.

Lucario: Thank you…  I’ll come in a few minutes.

May: But if you don’t hurry, it will get cold!

Lucario: …Fine…

Lucario and QST.camera switch to aura-vision, and Lucario follows May back to the rest of the group.

Lucario: Her aura is also like Aaron’s.  But at the same time it’s also slightly different.  I sense panic and desperation.

Lucario now glances at Benjy, who appears to have a faint gold-colored glow, but no aura.

Lucario: Maybe I’m loosing my touch.  I can’t see Benjy’s aura at all…

May now walks ahead of Lucario and sits down next to Max.

Lucario: And they’re supposed to be siblings…  I’ve never seen such difference in aura amongst siblings.

Lucario and QST.camera switch off aura-vision, and Lucario sits himself down next to the pot of stew, and helps himself to a bowl, his tail thumping on the ground behind him.

Lucario: It’s nice and warm…

Ash: How far do you think we’re going to have to go?

Benjy: I can’t calculate how far away we are if I don’t know how big it is.

Max: How big do you think it is?

Benjy: I can’t calculate that without knowing the distance to it.

Max: Sheesh.

Lucario: I never could understand how they do that.

Ash: I’ll get you back Pikachu, I promise.

Lucario switches to aura vision again to stare at Ash, but QST.camera stays in normal mode.

Lucario: So similar to Aaron in aura, yet so different in personality…  No, not similar.  The same.  Exactly the same.  Why?!

New Flashback Scene(@Temporal = Day)

Lucario is walking with Aaron in the castle’s courtyard.

Aaron: So you can see aura now?

Lucario nods.

Lucario: Slightly.

Aaron: But just barely, huh?

Lucario: I can still see it though.  You promised me you’d tell me what it is now.

Aaron now stops walking and turns to face Lucario, who stops walking behind him.

Aaron: Aura is the essence of all living things.  If you can read it, then you have a way to uniquely identify anyone.

Lucario: How so?

Aaron: Everyone’s aura is unique, because it’s their essence.  Once you master it, you’ll be able to see through even the most powerful of disguises.

Lucario: I suppose that could be useful, but…

Aaron: Of course, it has other uses than that–

Revert Scene()

Lucario takes another spoonful of stew.

Lucario: And that’s what he said.  Two people with the same aura pattern is impossible.  And I never found two people with the same aura pattern, although I did try.  Unless this is the first time I’m to prove him wrong, something is strange…  But then again, it’s been over four hundred years.  He couldn’t possibly live that long.

New Flashback Scene(@Temporal = Evening)

Lucario and Aaron are sitting in the room of the castle which is now the server closet, but 400+ years ago.  Lucario is lying down on his pillow.

Aaron: I’m sorry she kept it a secret from you, Lucario.  But you needed to be happy to evolve, so she made me promise not to tell you

Lucario.narration: It was the day the king passed away.  Aaron had kept the news from me on behest of the princess.  It was the day that the strange man the king had barred entry from the kingdom gave everyone in the castle a poke from a needle which he promised would prevent us from ending up like the king.

Lucario rubs a sore spot on his arm.

Aaron: Don’t touch it Lucario.  It will go back to normal in a day or two.

Lucario: Aaron, what happens to those who die?

Aaron: We’re going to bury the king’s body in cemetery tomorrow, you’re invited to attend his majesty’s funeral of course.

Lucario: You talk about his body as if he’s not in it, where is the king?

Aaron: He’s in the morgue right now, Lucario.  But I wouldn’t go near him, even with the vaccine now in your system.

Lucario: But what is going to happen to the king when we bury him tomorrow?

Lucario.narration: Eventually Aaron understood what I was asking.

Aaron: He’s gone, Lucario.

Lucario: But things can’t disappear.  You said so yourself!  Equivalent exchange!  The conservation of mass, energy, value!

Aaron: Despite what they say, there are exceptions to equivalent exchange, a fairly large number of them at that.

Lucario: But…

Aaron: However, I don’t know if there are such exceptions to conservation of energy.

Lucario.narration: And then he told me.  He stayed up all night telling me of the leading theories.  Astra.  Baria.  Channels.  Even reincarnation.

New Subscene(Maintain(Flashback) @Temporal = Midday)

Aaron and Lucario are both dressed in gray robes as the king is lowered into his grave.

Lucario.narration: And that next day, all I could think of was if one of those theories, just happened to be true…

Revert Scene()

QST: $UNLOCK$ revert_point

Lucario looks at everyone else talking, then stands up slowly.

Lucario: Ash, I’ve been wondering something…

Ash: What?

Lucario now starts walking towards Ash.

Lucario: I came here looking for what happened to Aaron, but now I think I have an answer.

Max: What happened?!

Cutscene() {

QST.camera shows Ash’s aura compared to Lucario’s recollection of Aaron’s aura.

}

Lucario raises his head and looks straight at Ash, and then points his right forefinger at him.

Lucario: You’re right in front of me!

{May, Max}: Huh?

Ciri: Oh (bleep)!

Lucario now leaps over the pot of stew and picks up Ash by the shoulders.

Lucario: Why, Aaron!

QST.camera split-screens as everyone stares at this turn of events.  Ash squirms in Lucario’s grasp.

Ash: I’m not Aaron…  Didn’t we go over this already?!

Lucario: That’s incorrect.  Aura is unique to every living thing.  No two living things can ever have the same aura.  Yet the aura I’m reading from you is the same as Aaron’s, therefore…

Max: Wait how do you know that?

Lucario: It’s something Aaron told me.  Every aspect of a being influences aura, so the only way to same aura as someone is to be that person!

Ash processes this for a split-second, and then starts struggling again.

Ash: I’m not Aaron though!  Let me go!

Lucario: Not until I get some answers!  Why are you doing this?

Ash: Doing what?!

Lucario: Going to this great length…

Lucario’s voice falters.

Lucario: Just to see your friend…

Ash: Uh–

Lucario: When you’ve never done anything like this for anyone before?!

Ash’s expression slowly turns from one of shock to one of anger, then he swings at Lucario and kicks at him, forcing the pokémon to drop him.

Ash: I’m glad you asked.  (angry)

Ash: Pikachu is my partner, the first pokémon I ever caught, in the floorboards of my own house!  (angry)

Lucario now tackles Ash to the ground.

Ash: Just because you have rejection issues–!  (angry)

Lucario: What about Michael!?  What about the princess!?  You lived in the castle with them both!

Ash: Who was Michael?

Lucario: Stop playing dumb!

Ash throws Lucario off of him, but Lucario rushes him again.

Lucario: This time I demand answers!

Lucario tackles Ash to the ground again, over a small knoll.  They struggle back and forth, and wind up rolling off a cliff cliff (which turns out not to be very steep; a 20º slope into a pond.  Ash throws Lucario off of him and into the water, but Lucario gets back up runs back at him.  Both then exchange a few blows, with Ash taking more damage then Lucario, before both are separated by someone between them.

Both panting, Ash and Lucario both take a step back to see Ciri standing between them, hands outstretched with her palm facing each.

Ciri: That’s enough.

Brock now shines a light from a lantern down on the three of them.

Lucario: Stand aside!

Ciri: You said you owe me, Lucario!

Lucario’s ears stand straight up.

Lucario: But…

Ciri: You can make it up to me by ending this pointless conflict.

Lucario: I’m sorry, but–

Ciri: Or are you going to betray me the same way Aaron betrayed you and the princess?

Lucario takes a few steps backwards, putting one hand on the spike on his chest, as if Ciri has just struck a blow to his heart.

Ciri: Who was Michael?

Lucario: …never-mind…

Ash also takes a step back nervously.

Ciri: Okay.  Even if he was-is Aaron, then his memory has been completely wiped clean!

Lucario:

Ciri: That’s what usually happens upon reincarnation.

Brock: It’s been a long time Lucario.  Maybe you aren’t remembering his aura correctly…

Lucario: !

Lucario angrily charges an aura sphere, preparing to fire it at Brock!

Ciri: I said stop it!  That won’t change anything.

Lucario appears to take a deep breath, and then lets the aura sphere go.  It zips about, illuminating the night, before arcing across the pond and crashing into a small mound with a small explosion.

Lucario: That’s one thing that I could not forget.

Benjy: Or maybe Aaron was wrong.  Two people can have the same aura.

Lucario: Or maybe he’s learned from his past mistakes…  I always took what he said as truth, but maybe that was a mistake in itself.

New Scene(@Temporal = Late_Evening)

Benjy sits on the top of the bus using The Millennium Gameboy Advance to film the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Benjy: You getting all of this?

Yami Benjy: Yup.

QST.camera now moves backwards to the other end of the humvee, where Lucario sits on the roof, gazing at the ground.

Lucario: Maybe I can’t remember it right…  Either way, this Ash has no memory of being Aaron.
