New Scene()

Narrator: Earlier…

The pokémon of Ash and Company { Pikachu, Treecko, Taillow, Croconaw, Corphish, Torkoal, Skitty, Torchic, Beautifly, Celebi } are eating at the buffet, when suddenly and angry chef comes out of the back room and attempts to shoo them away.  Croconaw and Celebi strike him with water attacks, forcing him back into the kitchen, and allowing the group to continue eating, for about fifteen seconds when more chefs finally succeed in chasing them away, threatening them with cooking tools.  Celebi uses psychic to knock the chefs off of their feet, which serves as a distraction for the group of pokémon to escape into the dance floor with the food they could grab.

The chefs slowly get back to their feet, as the group of pokémon has now made it across the dance floor to the stairs at the back of the ballroom.  The pokémon climb the stairs, with those that aren’t holding food holding their tails.  Once the group has reached a good hight up the stairs, Treecko turns around and blows a raspberry at the chefs, one of whom starts to hurl something at the group, but is quickly stopped by another chef.

A Taillow flies down from the rafters to join the group, turning into a Pachirisu, which quickly catches up with Pikachu at the front of the group.

Pachirisu: Pachipachi!

Pikachu: Pika?

Pachirisu: Ri!  Ri!

With this, Pachirisu jumps ahead of Pikachu as the group of pokémon finishes making their way up the stairs.

New Scene()

Now in the upstairs hallway, the pokémon, lead by Pachirisu, begin to take a tour through the castle.  This lasts for about two and a half minutes, as Pachirisu shows them a computer room (interesting), a library (not so interesting), and a greenhouse (very interesting).  Following Pachirisu through the greenhouse, the group emerges into another hallway, finally winding up in a room full of toys, where they are soon joined by Parcit, Zumi (Ciri’s Azumarill), Flygon, and Bayleef.

New Scene()

Back in the dance room, Brock sighs in realizing that Kidd has indeed left.  He puts Kidd’s drink down on the table, and starts to sip his own, still scanning the dance floor.  Here he notices that no one is in the Aura Guardian’s seat and approaches the Castle’s Matron to find out what’s going on.

New Scene()

Ciri is now sitting up on the bed, facing Eileen.

Ciri: There was already some kind of spell on it.  I couldn’t get it in my mind’s eye.

Ash: Mind’s eye?

Eileen: The mind’s eye is how a spellcaster determines the target of a spell.  So what did you do?  Something area on effect?

Ciri: I used a kind of non-targeting exclusion spell.

Ash: And what does that mean?

Max: It means the spell hits everything that isn’t excluded.  Not usually how these kinds of things are done.  Right, Ciri?

Ciri: I was trying to remove the spell that was keeping it from being targeted, but I guess I removed all of the spells on it…

Max: Or a bunch of them anyway.

Benjy: Unless the spell that was blocking the target was also binding Lucario.

Ash: All this magic is making my head hurt.

Eileen: Indeed, or you just weakened the spell enough for Lucario to break free.  Listen I wanted to make sure you were okay I went to search for Lucario.

Ash, May, and Max volunteer to search with Eileen, leaving Benjy with Ciri, and the four of them hurry out of the room.

Ash: Do you think Lucario went far?

Eileen: Mm–Probably not…

Eileen continues talking, but she is to far away to be heard.

New Scene()

Lucario wanders around outside the castle, examining the bushes and the wandering over grounds in the night.

Lucario: It wasn’t Aaron…

Lucario bends down to drink some water (using his hand to scoop some up) from a fountain.

Lucario: But he was dressed like Aaron…  And then there was that girl…

A snapshot from Lucario’s viewpoint of Ash and Ciri appears on the screen, before the screen returns to Lucario.  Lucario walks over to a bench and sits down.

Lucario: Could they have been Aaron’s kids?  Grandkids?

Lucario now looks upwards at a brightly-lit window, in which the pokémon are playing.  After looking around a bit, Lucario darts off to another part of the grounds.  QST.camera now shifts upwards to the roof where Kidd (no longer dressed up) is lying on the roof with her binoculars trained on the playing pokémon.  Hew Weavile are by her sides.

As she watches, Pachirisu transforms into Pikachu, which Kidd picks up on, recalling her Weaviles, and walks down the roof to get a better angle.  As she does she pulls out a long cannon-like instrument and drops both poké balls into it, still looking for a place where she can get a better shot.

Kidd: Got it…

New Scene()

In the room, both Pikachu are playing with some kind of building toy (resembling Legos™); Zumi is trying to balance on a ball, and Treecko is playing with the fan.  Other building toys are also being utilized, with Ciri’s Flygon and May’s Torchic, trying to understand how the magnets work.  Torchic starts to eat one, and Flygon smacks her upside the head to knock it out of her mouth.

Pikachu: Pika-Pi–

With a pop, two poké balls shoot in through the west window from a diagonal, striking the south wall.  Skitty approaches one of them curiously, and starts to play with it, but a split-second later it pops open and Kidd's Weavile emerge, startling Skitty.  As Treecko rushes to retrieve it, the Weavile get some instructions in their headsets, and as Treecko jumps away with Skitty, the Weavile charge (for about a half second) and fire an icy wind-like attack.

In the instant that it takes them to charge the move, one of the Pikachu transforms into a Mew, levitating itself and Ash’s Pikachu out of the way.  Treecko is not far enough away from the blast, and is encased in a layer of ice along with Skitty and all the other Pokémon.  Seeing Mew with Pikachu, both Weavile focus on it, completely ignoring Benjy’s frozen Celebi.

One of the Weavile fires a shadow ball at Mew, which transforms into an Emolga as Pikachu destroys shadow ball with thunderbolt.  This charge does little to the ice encasing the other pokémon, and the other Weavile lunges towards Emolga and Pikachu, but Pikachu emits a spark, damaging it’s headgear whilst the Emolga grabs Pikachu and flies right though the open window into the night.

QST.camera now turns downwards briefly to show Ash, May, Max, and Eileen, whom are all looking for Lucario.  Above them, both Weavile jump from the window and use some kind of device to grapple onto the castle’s roof, where Pikachu and Emolga zip about (the prior riding the later) shooting off electric attacks and dodging ice beams.  Kidd points a device at Pikachu and Emolga, but is unable to get a lock, as Emolga transforms into a Talonflame.

Back on the ground, Ash, May, Max, and Eileen look into the sky and wonder what all the noise is coming from.

Max: Are they shooting fireworks?

Eileen: No…  I mean we shouldn’t be–

Ash: Then what’s…

From across the grounds, the noise has also attracted Lucario’s attention, as he scans the area for any sign of the cause.

Lucario: Where is that coming from?

New Scene()

Back in the room with the toys, Zumi’s eyes blink and the ice starts to crack around her as she increases the water pressure.  Her tail also glows as she struggles to free it.  Below her and backwards, May’s Torchic suddenly glows white.  At this moment, Zumi frees herself from the ice, and uses a brick break to free her tail.  She then rushes to Flygon and tries to break the ice around it with an iron tail, but the ice is far too strong.

Following this, Zumi jumps back as a bolt of fire comes up from below, from May’s Combusken.  Cursing in pokémon language, Zumi leaps from Flygon’s head towards a heating grate, breaking it, and disappears inside.  Combusken breathes out a plume of fire, which doesn’t seem to do much to the ice, before following Zumi.

Revert Scene()

Above the castle, Pikachu fires thunderbolt after thunderbolt at the Weavile but they dodge each time.  Talonflame counter with 2 fire breaths (each at separate times) but has to use most of it’s energy and concentration to dodge the ice beams and blizzards, and finally Kidd’s device when Kidd does finally get a lock on Talonflame.

Something clunks in the roof as Pikachu strikes the homing device fired after them by Kidd with a thunder attack, causing a massive explosion in the night.  The explosion weakens the roof to the extent that a split-second later, Zumi pushes her head through the weakened roof.

New Scene()

As Benjy talks with Ciri, Celebi suddenly flies into the room.

Celebi: Bibibibibi!!!

Benjy: ?

Celebi: Bi!!

Celebi grabs it’s head, and shakes itself.

Ciri: Benjy, something’s happened.  Quickly!

Benjy starts to follow Celebi through the curtain and into the mini-pokémon center.  Ciri emerges from the curtains after him, and despite Blissey’s protests, chases after Celebi, too.  Blissey runs to block Ciri, but winds up just being spun around as Ciri rushes past to catch up with Benjy and Celebi, whilst the Millennium Gameboy Advance glows.

Revert Scene()

Kidd is now firing at Talonflame left and right, and it zooms between the eaves of the castle to avoid the poké-ball carrying missiles, which due to their speed, make a getaway in open-air impossible.

Talonflame flies behind a castle spire to avoid one of these such blasts, but one of Kidd’s Weaviles jumps to the top of the spire and fires an ice beam down at Pikachu and Talonflame, Pikachu shoots a lightning bolt at the ice beam.  Both attacks meet and explode, as Pikachu readies itself to counter another strike.  Luckily though, Weavile is no where to be seen.  Talonflame now flies below the eaves of the castle out of Kidd’s range.

QST.camera now shifts to the castle’s roof where Kidd is still searching for Talonflame, wearing night vision goggles.  The loud cry of what sounds like a rooster almost knocks Kidd off her feet, as she turns to look to see where it came from.  Near the previous spire Combusken shoots flamethrower after flamethrower at Weavile, forcing it to dodge.  As Weavile uses ice shard Combusken shreds the attack with firepower and it’s fists.  Seeing this, Kidd looks to her other Weavile whom has managed to get behind Zumi, only to be seconds later smacked against her backside with iron tail, which stuns Weavile enough to be forced into an outright brawl with her.

New Scene()

Celebi leads Yami Benjy and Ciri into the room in which the pokémon were frozen.  Ciri sees the frozen Celebi, and wonders what’s going on, before a projection of Benjy explains that he thinks it time-traveled.

Benjy: We’re going to need a space heater…

Ciri: Leave this to me.  Brissingr!

Ciri ignites a fireball in her hand, and by carefully moving the fireball around, begins to thaw the pokémon.  Meanwhile, Yami Benjy pulls a hairdryer out of a closet and plugs it in.

Yami Benjy: Does something strike you odd about this ice?

Ciri: Uh, maybe…

Revert Scene()

Kidd has spotted Talonflame again and fires more missiles at it, forcing Talonflame to fly low to avoid them.  Seeing an opportunity, Lucario zips toward the incoming missiles, and in jumping from one to another, lands on the roof.  As Kidd turns to face him, he smacks her upside the head, knocking Kidd’s launcher out of her hands and off the roof, where it falls to the castle grounds, and explodes, catching the attention of Ash and company.

Kidd continues to fight Lucario, forced to defend herself with martial arts and is unable to do anything else, save for calling to her pokémon.  This is pointless though as Combusken and Zumi deal heavy damage opponents with sky uppercut and brick break respectively.  Both Weavile are knocked down and nearly roll off the roof.  Forced to defend against another strike by Lucario, Talonflame seizes the opportunity and zips off into the distance.

Kidd now is forced to jump backwards to avoid Lucario, but he proves to fast for her, striking her in the stomach and the shin.  Kidd counters with a karate chop, which does some damage to Lucario, but Kidd also gets a good-sized scrape on the spike on Lucario’s chest, finally kicking the pokémon away.  Kidd reaches for some kind of tool, but Lucario zips in and strikes her before she can react, though this opportunity gives Kidd the opportunity to land a much more damaging blow on Lucario.

Eileen: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING!

QST.camera shifts downwards to show that Eileen is looking straight at Kidd, with a megaphone pointed at her.  Both Kidd and Lucario pause to observe this and then go right back to fighting.

Eileen: STOP THAT RIGHT NOW!

Ash: Do you think they heard you?

May: They’re not listening

Satolite: Coo!

Ash, May, and Eileen all jump at Satolite’s voice coming from behind them, as Satolite opens it’s screen and displays images of what happened to the Pokémon.

Max: Did Kidd do that?!

Satolite displays a large question mark on it’s screen to show that it doesn’t know, and then flies back to where Benjy and Ciri are, and QST.camera follows it, moving to where Kidd and Lucario are locked in combat.  Flying in a loop Satolite zips past Weavile, then Kidd, then the second Weavile, striking all three and causing Kidd to loose her balance and take a tumble off of the roof, her grappling device flying out of her hand.  On the ground, Ash and company are now joined by Brock, whom has finally given up looking for Kidd.

Brock: Ash!

Ash: Finally gave up looking for Kidd?

Kidd: Aaaaaaaaaa!

Ash, May, Max, and Eileen look up as Kidd falls from the roof above, landing squarely on Brock.

Brock: Ow!

Kidd: Can you hold on a m–

Kidd reaches for something, but appears to be stopped by an invisible force.  On the rooftop, Kidd’s Weavile are finally knocked out by explosions of water and fire.  Lucario stares down at where Kidd fell, and is now cornered by Ash and company.

Lucario: I’ve never seen her before…

Zumi now passes Lucario, carrying the Weavile that she knocked out, headed back to the hole in the roof.  Lucario follows her.  On the other side of the roof Combusken drags the Weavile it KOed towards the hole, as well.

New Scene()

Benjy and Ciri are trying to dry off all of the pokémon, now that everyone has been thawed out.  Benjy looks over at Ciri nervously, whom is drying off Ash’s Treecko.

Benjy: We’re missing May’s Torchic and your Azumarill…

Ciri: They say no news is good news.

Ciri now picks up a large chunk of ice and walks over to the window, dropping the chunk of ice over the windowsill into the garden below.

Ciri: …b-but I am still worried…

Ciri now picks up another chunk of ice and hurls it out the window, as she does, a clunking noise reverberated from the pipes above.  Benjy and Ciri briefly hesitate, before resuming what they were doing.  Benjy, groaning, manages to scrape a large-ish chunk of ice off the floor and rush it towards the window.  Ciri dives out of the way, and seeing the pokémon (and Parcit) shivering, creates more fire orbs, which the pokémon quickly flock to.  Panting, Benjy drops the chunk of ice out the window.  This is followed by Ash’s Croconaw dropping a chunk of ice out the window, right after him.

The noise in the ceiling above is starting to get on Croconaw’s nerves–as can be seen by it’s staring at the ceiling.  Then, a *clunk* reverberates from near one of the ducts.  Seconds later, with a loud cracking noise, Kidd’s Weavile are flung out of the duct by an aura sphere that proceeds to make a rather large dent in the far wall.  Ciri turns around and stares at the Weavile, both completely out cold.

A claw now emerges from the duct, followed by another, and then May’s Combusken jumps out of the duct, surprising everyone present.  She is followed by Zumi, whom Ciri dives to catch.  Ciri then scrambles out of the way as more scratching is heard from the duct.  Lucario then extracts itself, crashing to the ground in a heap, startling everyone present.

Ciri: Zumi, is that–

Zumi: Zuzu azu amari marii!

Lucario watches Ciri carefully as she appears to understand Zumi’s speech, moving to a sitting position.

Lucario: It’s the girl from before.

Lucario now turns to the KOed Weavile.

Lucario: Looks like they won’t be causing any more trouble for a long time.

The Millennium Gameboy Advance glows, which is not missed by Lucario.

Yami Benjy: Are you the one that–

Lucario: I was imprisoned in that scepter, yes.

Lucario looks around the room, finally turning to Ciri, who is now standing up with Zumi on her shoulder.

Lucario: That was until you freed me… Do you know Aaron?

Yami Benjy: Aaron?  As in the aura guardian?

Lucario: The staff I was in belonged to Aaron.

Yami Benjy looks around the room, also.

Yami Benjy: We know of him, but we don’t know him personally.

Ciri: I hate to tell you this, but Aaron is most likely long dead by now.

Lucario jumps to his feet in shock.

Lucario: How?!

Ciri: Given that it’s been about four hundred fifty years since the Battle of Rootshock, I don’t think any human could live that long.

Lucario takes a step back and sits down in a chair to ponder this.

Lucario: But you know of him?

Ciri: The old lady told me a story about him.

Lucario: And so she freed me…  Or was it by accident?

Lucario: And even after five hundred years of war…  This castle still stands?!

Ciri: Five hundred years of war?

New Scene()

Benjy and Ciri walk with the pokémon and Lucario through the castle’s halls.  Yami Benjy has the Weavile in their poké balls, which are glimpsed by QST.camera to be in his sweatshirt pocket.

Lucario: So the war ended?

Ciri: Two-hundred and fourty-six years ago.

Lucario takes a deep breath, but remains speechless, taking in the changes to the castle.

Lucario: Still, to think this place lasted two hundred and fourty-six years of war.  No wait, that’s how long it’s been since the war was over…

Ciri now shows Benjy and Lucario the library that she was in earlier, Lucario is rubbing his chin.

Lucario: So if I was imprisoned 450 years ago and it’s been 246 years since the war ended…  Darn it I hate math!   Aaron always made it seem so easy though…

Ciri: Most of these books are just fiction stuff.  That old lady’s tale was more informative than anything I’ve seen here.

Lucario examines a potted plant, and then moves to a shelf, brushing some of the dust off of the windowsill.

Lucario: It’s different than I remember it.

In Benjy’s sweatshirt pocked, one of Kidd’s poké balls starts to wiggle, and Benjy puts his hand on it to stop it.

Zumi: Zuzu!

Both Ciri and Lucario seem to understand this comment.

Ciri: So what happened?

Zumi: Zu amimi mea mea ami!

Lucario: Those Weavile belong to a human girl with long black braids.  She was on the roof, firing some kind of weapon at a Pikachu riding a bird that I’ve never seen before.  Zumi and Combusken fought them, while I distracted the human.

Ciri: And the Weavile froze everybody solid?

Zumi confirms this to Ciri.

Benjy: A girl with long, black braids…

Yami Benjy: I think he means Kidd.

Benjy: You didn’t get her name, did you?

Lucario shakes his head.

Lucario: But it was obvious she was up to no good.

Lucario now turns to Ciri.

Lucario: But if I may ask a question, what happened to that boy that was with you before?

New Scene()

In the garden, Kidd sits on the ground surrounded by a magic circle, while a one of the chefs and Blissey tend to Brock who’s lying on a cart.  The castle’s matron now also approaches.

Castle’s Matron: Kids these days.  They’re all hooligans I swear.

Now reaching Ash and company, she addresses Eileen.

Castle’s Matron: Eileen!  What on Fenyra happened?!

Eileen: It’s okay, grandma.  We’ve got it under control.

As Eileen turns to the Matron, Kidd activates a device dispelling the magic, and thus enabling her to stand up and dust herself off.  The matron now turns to Kidd.

Castle’s Matron: Who are you?!

Seeing that Kidd has broken free from the circle, Ash and company are swept with a minor panic.

Kidd: Relax, I’m not going anywhere.

Castle’s Matron: Then tell me what were you doing!

Eileen: Grandma!

Kidd: It’s really a confidential matter…

Castle’s Matron: Tell me!

Kidd: All I can tell you was that I wasn’t successful in this mission.

Castle’s Matron: Mission?

Eileen does a gesture with her hands to create another magic circle around Kidd, but it doesn’t work do to Kidd’s flash-drive sized device.

Revert Scene()

Benjy, Ciri, and Lucario walk down the empty halls of the castle.

Benjy: She fell off the roof?!

Lucario: But she’s still alive.

Ciri: Um…

Ciri: Benjy, do you think this has anything to do with the disturbance in the anima?

Lucario: ?

Ciri: Anima, as in the life force of the planet.

Benjy: Probably not directly, but we’re barking up the right tree.

Lucario turns a corner and looks in a room, also full of books, before the three of them head down a staircase followed by Ash, May, and Brock’s pokémon.  They emerge on the balcony above the ballroom where some people are still dancing, but most are enjoying the banquet.

Lucario: Is this…

Benjy: I think you broke out of the staff down there.

Where the castle matron was presiding over the ball, a man in a tuxedo has replaced her, although it’s unclear just what his job is.

Lucario: That boy though…  The one that looked like Aaron.  Where is he?

Benjy: I don’t know…

Ciri: I think they went looking for you.

Lucario: Huh?

Ciri: Let me call them.

Ciri takes out her pokégear and starts dialing.

Revert Scene()

In the dark garden, Ash, May, Max, and Eileen are keeping a close eye on Kidd as they walk back towards the building.  Max’s pokénav rings, and he picks it up.

Max: Uh huh.  I see.  Oh!

May: What’s happening?

Max: They found Lucario.

Eileen: May I–

Eileen now takes the pokénav from Max before he can object.

Eileen: This is Eileen…

Eileen: I see.  Can you meet us–

Eileen: Listen, can you meet us in the pokémon center where…

Ciri’s voice is heard faintly through the pokénav.

Eileen: Okay, bye.

Kidd: So what’s happening?

Eileen: You, are on very thin ice, lady.

Kidd giggles.

New Scene()

Benjy, Ciri, and Lucario walk into the pokémon center where Blissey is being aided by two chefs in getting Brock into a hospital bed.

Lucario: Is this…

Benjy: What happened to Brock?

Castle’s Matron: Some idiot hooligan girl was fell off the roof, and fell right on him.

Lucario: So that must’ve been…

Ciri: Kind of thing that only happens in anime…  No, in parodies of anime…

Benjy: Brock, are you okay?

Brock: My head and back hurt a bit, but nothing feels broken.

Benjy places Kidd’s poké balls from his sweatshirt pocket onto the counter, whom the Castle’s Matron eyes suspiciously.

Castle’s Matron: And what are those?

Benjy: Kidd’s Weavile.

Castle’s Matron: Kidd?

Lucario: The girl that I fought on the roof.

Castle’s Matron: Lucario!

Benjy: She was up to–

Benjy is cut off as the Castle’s Matron rushes to hug Lucario, taking the pokémon by surprise.  (And being careful to avoid the spike on Lucario’s chest)

Castle’s Matron: Oh heavens!

Lucario looks around, not quite sure what’s going on.  Eventually the Castle’s Matron lets go of Lucario, seconds before, Ash, May, Max, and Eileen arrive in the doorway, escorting Kidd.  Lucario immediately bows before Eileen.

Lucario: Princess <@insert_01>!

Eileen: Actually, that was my great, great…

Eileen: Um…

Eileen: Grandma–  Is that?

Castle’s Matron: Yes, he was Sir Aaron’s close friend.  For sixteen generations we’ve wondered what happened to him.

Kidd: So what exactly did happen him?

Lucario now stands up.

Eileen: Aaron appears to have sealed him in the crystal in his scepter–

Eileen cuts herself off as she realizes that it was Kidd who asked the question.

Benjy: But how is that possible?

Brock: I’m guessing it’s similar to how pokémon are caught in poké balls.

Benjy: And how is that possible?

Max: That’s Ciri’s department.

Benjy: ?

Brock: ?

Ciri: What do you mean, Max?

Max: You’ve crafted pokéballs from apricorns, haven’t you?

Bayleef now wanders in from the hallway and lies down on Benjy’s feet.  Ciri starts to say something, but it then cut off by the castle’s matron.

Castle’s Matron: And still need to tell us what you were doing on the roof!  We have your poké balls…

Kidd glances at Lucario, whom glances back, as if to let Kidd know not to make any sudden moves.

Kidd: Oh fine.  I was trying to catch a rare pokémon that lives around here, nothing major.

Despite Kidd’s nonchalance, Eileen looks quite intrigued.

New Scene()

In the middle of the night, Talonflame transforms into a Swellow while Pikachu is still riding on it.  They are both far away from the castle, let alone the ground.

Pikachu: Pika Pikachu…

Swellow: Swellow…

Pikachu: Pika!

New Scene()

As people in the dance hall clear out, Ash and company (minus Max) gather around the podium with Eileen and the Castle’s Matron.  Kidd stands at the back of the group.  Soon Max bursts in from the kitchen, holding Benjy’s (filthy) Shroomish in his hands, which are covered by white gloves:

Max: I found Shroomish!

May: Why are you wearing gloves?

Max: They managed to trap it in the trash can.

May: Benjy?

Benjy: Means its bath time.

Shroomish is too sleepy to respond to this comment, but May and Ciri giggle.

Ash: But we’re still missing Pikachu…

Lucario: What’s a "Pikachu"?

Max: You mean what does it look like?

Lucario: Yes.

Ash: Let me show you:

Ash pulls out his pokédex and presses a couple of buttons, before handing it to Lucario.

Ash’s Pokédex: Whenever Pikachu comes across something new, it blasts it with a jolt of electricity.  A blackened berry, for example is evidence that this Pokémon mistook the intensity of its charge.  It stores it’s electricity in it’s cheek pouches, which appear to become electrically charged during the night while it sleeps.

Lucario stares at the picture of Pikachu on the pokédex, quietly recalling his battle with Kidd.  The outlines of Lucario and Kidd fighting play over the top of QST.camera as Lucario tries to recall what Kidd was blasting at.

Parcit: Ceet!

Lucario jumps at the comment.

Lucario: Are you saying?

Parcit: Ceceet.  Zeet.

Ciri: Pikachu was with you before you were attacked?

Parcit: Zezeet-zee.

Ciri: So two of them?

Brock: You trying to catch a Pikachu, Kidd?

Kidd: That’s what you’ve been trying to do!

May: That’s what she said!

Ash: This is no time for jokes, we need to know what happened to Pikachu!

Brock: Ash, we’re trying to figure that out.

Unnoticed by anyone except possibly Kidd and Lucario, the Millennium Gameboy Advance glows, inconspicuously,

Yami Benjy: Kidd, exactly what were you trying to capture?

Kidd: I wonder if they know.

Kidd laughs.

Kidd: I’m not really sure myself actually.

May: What do you mean?

Kidd: Well I’m sure of it’s true nature.  It kept transforming.

Max: So a Ditto?

Ash: A Ditto?

Brock: Well Ditto’s not the only pokémon that can transform.

Eileen: Like Mew…

Kidd: Mew?

Max: Yeah, Mew can use transform too.

Castle’s Matron: There is said to be a Mew that lives around these parts.

Kidd turns to Ash.

Kidd: Can I see your pokédex for a second?

Ash hesitates, and Kidd doesn’t press the issue.

May: Something the matter?

Kidd appears to shiver slightly.

Ciri: Mew, and Mew Aqua.  That’s probably–

Benjy: A critical piece of the anima puzzle…

Kidd: What’s a Mew?  I’ve never heard of that pokémon.

Brock: I find that very hard to believe.

Kidd: How so?

Brock: You see… um…

Ash: The book of famous women?

Kidd: Eh-heh…

Eileen: So you were trying to catch Mew?

Kidd: Well…

New Scene()

Ciri sits on a bed in one of the castle’s bedrooms with Flygon stretched out on the bed beside her, looking completely worn out.  In the bathroom attached to the room, the water is running, and the light is on.  As Ciri rests, Benjy turns the light off and exits the bathroom, with Shroomish wrapped in a towel.  Upon seeing Ciri it suddenly flinches and shakes rapidly.

Benjy: Whoa Shroomish!  You know her!

Flygon opens an eye sleepily, to make sure that Shroomish doesn’t pose a threat to it’s trainer.

Benjy: It’s all yours, Ciri.

Ciri acknowledges this and gets up, leaving Flygon on the bed, and closes the door behind her.  As Benjy tries to recall Shroomish, it snaps at him, but Benjy is soon able to calm it and recall it back into it’s ball.

Yami Benjy: The door to it’s heart is growing wider.

Benjy: True…

Someone knocks on the bedroom door, and Benjy jumps up to open it, to find himself face-to-face with Lucario, who is standing closer to the door than one would expect a human to stand.

Benjy: Uh, hi.

Lucario: Is Ciri here?

Benjy: She’s getting dressed right now.

Benjy gestures to the restroom.  Lucario nods and before Benjy knows what’s happening, Lucario taps the door and it swings open, as Ciri didn’t close it completely.  Ciri is half-dressed (underwear and a shirt) with her pajama pants still on the counter.

Lucario: Ciri, I wanted to say–

Ciri: Hold that thought–Benjy!

Benjy: Unfgh…

QST.camera switches back to Benjy as he searches for a tissue, while holding the bridge of his nose, trying to stop a nosebleed.

Lucario: Benjy!

Ciri: Benjy, the sink!

Benjy quickly abandons his search for tissues and darts over to the sink where Ciri hands him a toilet paper role to help stop the dripping blood from his nose.  Ciri now finishes putting her pajama pants on.

Lucario: What happened?!

Benjy: Just a random nosebleed.  I get them about once a month on average.

Ciri takes one look at the sink and recoils (slightly).

Ciri: Sheesh…

Ciri now exits the bathroom with Lucario following her.  As Ciri sits down on the bed, Lucario sits down by her feet.

Lucario: I just wanted to say…  Thank you for freeing me.

Ciri: Um…

Lucario: I know you didn’t know I was there, but you have my gratitude nonetheless.

Ciri starts to turn red.

Benjy: Hey, Lucario.  Do you think there’s anyone else trapped in there?

Lucario: It’s unlikely.  I didn’t sense anyone else’s aura.

Benjy: By aura?

Lucario: All living things have aura.  It’s something Aaron taught me.  And he taught me how to sense it.

Benjy’s Celebi flies around the room, looking at different things in the background whilst Ciri ponders this comment, still red with embarrassment.

New Scene()

In a top floor bedroom, Eileen sits in a chair across from Ash, whom is sitting on the bed.  Eileen’s Grandmother, the Castle’s Matron stands in the doorway

Ash: Satolite’s searching the castle now, so soon we’ll know…

Castle’s Matron: Mew’s probably flown back to the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Ash: So then is Pikachu…?

Eileen: Lucario said he saw electricity coming from the battle, and Kidd said one of her devices was shorted out by something electric.  Sounds like Pikachu, right?

Ash jumps up.

Ash: What?!  Then why are we waiting?!

Eileen: Because we’re still trying to make sure.

Castle’s Matron: The kitchen staff will let us know in the morning if they’ve found anyone.

Ash clenches his teeth and tries to control his breathing.

Ash: And in the morning?

Castle’s Matron: That Kidd will help you search.

Eileen: She agreed to that?

Castle’s Matron: She will.

Eileen’s Grandmother smiles at her and Ash.

Castle’s Matron: After all, I have her by the balls.

Eileen’s Grandmother shows Ash and Eileen Kidd’s poké balls in her hand, and Ash breathes a sigh of relief.

Ash: But still I’m worried about Pikachu…

New Scene()

Outside the castle in a vehicle that’s half-humvee half-bus, Kidd contacts her boss.

Kidd’s boss: Kidd, did you get it?

Kidd: Don’t get me started.

Kidd pours herself some coffee.

Kidd’s boss: Did–

Kidd: Don’t get me started.

Kidd slurps the coffee and takes a deep breath.

Kidd: Let me think about how to phrase this…  There was an extremely improbable scenario.

Kidd swivels her chair around.

Kidd: I’ll tell you more once I get the Weavile back…

Kidd’s boss: Kidd!

Kidd: I’ll pull a bait-and-switch when everyone’s sleeping, relax.

Kidd’s boss: What happened?

Kidd: I’d call them "meddlesome brats," but that would make me sound like a bad guy.

Kidd spins around in her chair again.

Kidd: And they’re really much more than that.  The capture operation––are you there?

Kidd faces the screen and waits for her boss to come back on the screen.

Kidd’s boss: What about the capture operation?

Kidd: Failure, but we’re going to get a second try.  Apparently it was a Mew.  It fled back to the Tree of the World’s Beginning taking one of the kids’ pokémon with it.  A Pikachu we think.

Kidd’s boss: Wait, you didn’t…

Kidd: It’s a completely unintended consequence of the capture operation.

Kidd’s boss: Kidd!  The Tree of the World’s Beginning is extremely dangerous, you could–

Kidd: It’s okay.  The lady in charge of the castle "ordered" me to take them.

Kidd’s boss: That’s insane!

Kidd: Goes to show how little they know.

Kidd’s boss: You aren’t really…  No.  No one in their right mind would go there!

Kidd: I "don’t" have a choice.

Kidd smiles as she says this.

Kidd’s boss: If I can talk to them.  Kidd you…

Kidd: I promised I wouldn’t go without backup.

Kidd sips her coffee nonchalantly.

Kidd: And one of them is totally into me, did I tell you that?

Kidd’s boss: You’d better hope they’re abilities are better than yours.

Kidd: Just get the instruments ready,

Kidd’s boss: Fine, but if anything happens to you you’ll owe me a niece.

Kidd nods, and powers off the transmission.

New Scene()

Kidd’s boss walks around his laboratory.

Kidd’s boss: What an idiot.

Kidd’s boss puts his head in his hand.

Kidd’s boss: What an idiot!  That’s…

Kidd’s boss: But it’s not like I can just fly out there and stop her…  By morning…  Now that’s an idea, but could I stop all of them?

Kidd’s boss now starts walking towards this stairs down to the basement.

Kidd’s boss: I may be old, but I won’t stand by while that girl digs her own grave.

New Scene()

Inside the castle, QST.camera moves from room to room, first showing the room in which Benjy, Ciri, and their creatures are sleeping.  Ciri is sound asleep, but Benjy is still awake.  As he stretches out, he touches Ciri’s leg with his foot.  While this doesn’t wake Ciri, Benjy quickly recoils, nearly falling off the bed.

Narrator: And there’s not much going on here.

QST.camera moves to the next room, where May and Max sleep on separate beds next to each other.  Something then creaks, and QST.camera moves through the floor to where Kidd is sneaking around the castle in full gear.

Kidd scans around the corner, and waits for a chef to disappear into the kitchen before darting into a hallway.

New Scene()

Kidd opens the door to the room where Eileen’s Grandmother is sleeping, and quietly replaces the pokéballs containing her Weavile with empty ones.

Kidd: If I’m going to go, then I’ll definitely need them.

After switching the poké balls, Kidd exits the room into the hallway.  After a few paces, Kidd suddenly dives out of the way of an aura sphere thrown from behind her.  Despite the attempted evade, the aura sphere changes direction, striking her in the back, as Lucario approaches.

Lucario: The matron’s bedroom is off limits.

Kidd: Sorry, just needed these back.

Kidd shows Lucario the poké balls and Lucario flinches.

Kidd: They say the Tree of the World’s Beginning is dangerous.  We’re going to need them if we go.

Lucario: We?

Kidd: You’re coming with us, right?

Lucario appears to ponder this.

Kidd: We might learn what happened to Aaron.

Lucario: I’m going to be keeping an eye on you…

Kidd: You can if you want.  But I’m just going to be sleeping.

Lucario: Hmm…

Lucario watches Kidd walk down the hall, and watches as she goes into a bedroom and closes the door behind her.  Lucario stares at the door.

Lucario: There are no windows in that room.  Does she intend to dig a tunnel or something?  Maybe teleport?

Lucario takes a few more steps down the hall and turns his head.

Lucario: I’ve never heard anything quite like that before.

Lucario darts off down the hall.

Lucario: The aura’s all funky…

New Scene()

Lucario checks inside room after room, comparing each room to the way he remembers it.  After checking out five rooms, Lucario approaches a closed door, and finding it locked, picks the lock and opens the door.  Inside the room are a couple racks of quietly humming servers and a vacuum cleaner lying on the floor.  Lucario approaches a built in dresser, and opens the bottom drawer, revealing that it’s full of linens.

Lucario: Of course.

Lucario darts over to the door and closes it, turning on the light as he does so, then returns to the drawer of linens and extracts enough to create a bed for himself on the floor away from the racks of the servers.

Having made his bed, Lucario remembers:

Cutscene() { Lucario remembers sleeping on those same blankets as a Riolu }

Lucario: Four hundred years…  I get it.  It’s a long time.

Lucario now darts over to turn off the light.

Lucario: Even if I’d been gone a million years, they still wouldn’t have gotten around to going through those drawers.

New Scene(New Day(@Temporal = Early Morning))

Light streams in through the window into the room where Ash is sleeping in the bed next to Eileen.  Eileen is awake and watching as Ash reacts to the light coming in, turning in his bed to keep the light out of his eyes.

Ash continues to turn, and then awakens with a start.

Ash: Pikachu?  Huh?

Ash suddenly sits bolt upright.

Ash: Eileen, did they find…

Ash trails off as he sees Eileen’s expression.

Eileen: No…

Ash: Then I’ve wasted valuable time–

Eileen: I’m sorry–

Ash leaps out of the bed and hurries into the bathroom attached to the room to prepare for the day.  From the bathroom Ash calls back to Eileen:

Ash: It’s not your fault.

Eileen stares in the direction of the bathroom, and takes a deep breath.

New Scene()

Yami Benjy awakens, hearing footsteps in the hallway, and wakes Benjy and Ciri.  Benjy awakens immediately, but Ciri just rolls over.  The knob now turns and Lucario opens the door.

Lucario: Sorry, did I wake you?

Benjy: I need to be getting up anyway.

Ciri: Ungh…

Lucario: I see.  Your friend is impatient to get going.

Benjy: Alright, I just need to talk to the princess…  um…

Lucario: Eileen?

Benjy: Right.

Benjy jumps out of the bed and rushes into the bathroom, as Lucario approaches Ciri, who opens a sleepy eye a Lucario approaches, and then flails in the bed as she wakes up, kicking the blanket off of her as Lucario stands back.  Ciri then pulls the blanket back over herself, and at last sits up under the blanket, before finally pulling the blanket off of her.

Ciri: Did they find Pikachu?

Lucario: Nope.  Satolite couldn’t locate anything either.

Benjy calls from the bathroom:

Benjy: Ciri, we should talk to Eileen before we go.

Ciri: About what?

Benjy: Anima.

Lucario: Anima?

Benjy now opens the bathroom door.

Benjy: As we were traveling, word reached us that there was some kind of disturbance in the anima.

Ciri: Can you excuse us?

Lucario: Of course…

Ciri then grabs her poké balls and darts out of the room after Benjy.

New Scene()

Outside the castle, Kidd starts up her humvee.  May and Max join Ash aboard the vehicle.  Kidd revs up the engine, then lets it die.

Ash: Huh?

Kidd: It’s going to be a little while.  I’ve got to swap some things out…

New Scene()

Eileen and her Grandmother watch from the balcony as Lucario boards the humvee while Kidd does something under the hood.  Both turn around though, as footsteps approach them.  Benjy and Ciri are both running towards them.

Eileen’s Grandmother: Shouldn’t you kids be getting ready to go.

Benjy: We are.

Ciri: Before we go, there’s some information that we need to exchange.

Eileen: Um…

The Millennium Gameboy Advance glows.

Yami Benjy: On our way here, were heard that there was a quote-unquote disturbance in the anima.

Eileen’s Grandmother: Who did you hear this from?!

Yami Benjy: A member of the DWMA had been sent out, because the DWMA automatically assumed that a witch was involved.  No witch was involved, but we don’t know anymore than that.

Eileen: Disturbance in the anima?  What does that mean, grandma?

Eileen’s Grandmother: It means the DWMA  doesn’t know the specifics.  It may not have to do with the Tree of the World’s Beginning, but it probably does.

Yami Benjy: That was the information the DWMA handed to the police, although we aren’t sure of it’s accuracy.  We also know of a group looking for a substance that we’ve never heard of before, operating in this vicinity.

Eileen’s Grandmother: May I ask what this substance is called?

Yami Benjy makes a gesture, and Eileen’s Grandmother puts her ear close so Yami Benjy can whisper something in her ear.  While QST.camera doesn’t pick this up, Eileen’s Grandmother starts to look a little bit faint.

Eileen: What’s the matter?

Eileen’s Grandmother: I’ll tell you in private.

From the ground below, Ash calls to Benjy and Ciri:

Ash: Hey, we’re almost ready!

Eileen’s Grandmother: But I’ve never heard that term before.  They way the Tree of the World’s Beginning is…  well…  connected with everything.  And it has something to do with the pokémon you mentioned.

Eileen: Ciri, we should keep in touch.  Do you have a–

Ciri instinctively pulls out her pokégear, and holds it up to Eileen’s pokénav, and both devices suddenly go into error mode.  From down below, Brock calls to Benjy and Ciri to hurry up.

Eileen: Um…

Ciri holds down a button on the side of her pokégear, and holds in up to Eileen’s pokénav again, and this time a chime sounds, indicating that the address has been registered.

Ciri: A friend of mine from school was with a group that was looking for it, or some of it.

Kidd: Don’t make us leave without you!

Yami Benjy: On my way!

Eileen’s Grandmother: Good luck…

Eileen: Um…

Ciri: Thank you…

Ciri now darts off after Yami Benjy as Kidd revs the engine.  A few seconds later (real time), Yami Benjy and Ciri board the humvee below.  The engine roars and the humvee begins to drive off into the morning mists

Eileen: Grandma?

Eileen’s Grandmother: Eileen, lets go inside.

Eileen nods and follows her grandmother into the castle, past some automatic glass doors.  QST.camera now shifts towards the humvee, and Team Rocket’s balloon floating in the sky overhead.

James: Whew, for a minute there I thought we missed an entire episode.

Meowth: We already *did* miss one, dumb(bleep)!

Jessie: You mean we nearly missed two in a row?!

Wobbuffett: Wobbuffett!

Meowth: Oh, shut up!
