New Scene(Previously_on_Trigamon) {

Narrator: Despite everything that’s happened, Benjy appears to still be suffering from culture shock, at least on some level.

• Recap: Benjy looks around the lighthouse.

Narrator: But it looks like it’s starting to wear off.  Traveling with Ash and company, and this new person, named "Coal."  But who is he when he wasn’t in the original pokémon show?  What is he capable of?!

• Recap: Coal has Pichu light up the misty forest with flash, creating a massive burst of light.

}

New Scene()

Narrator: Leaving the misty forests behind us for a little while, our allies stumble on something odd…

Ash and company emerge from the mist-filled forest into a grassy plain, still covered with mist.  The path in front of them slopes downwards into a valley ahead (This depression though is only about 20 feet).  In the distance, barely visible through the mist is a large crowd, which Ash and company see as they walk down the slope into the valley.

May: Hey…  What are they all doing.

Coal: Wasting their time.

Brock: Let me look it up.

With this, Brock puts down his backpack and starts to rummage around for something in it.

Coal: It’s called the trick house.

Ash: Trick house?

Coal: You see, there’s this guy–

Ash, May, Max, and Benjy have all now turned towards Coal.

Coal: –some think he’s an alien, not that we should hold that against him–but apparently it’s his life’s dream to set up mazes for people…  or something like that.  Anyway, every month, or two, or three he comes out with a new maze.  Then people come from all over to be the first to complete it.

#Part of Coal’s monologue is a reference to a stand-up act by comedian Dennis Leary

Brock: It says here that there’s a reward offered for the first to complete it.

May: What is it?

Max also turns his attention to Brock.

Brock: Let me look it up.

Coal: It’s never been worth it for what you have to do to get to it.  Special tents, a pack of ultra balls…

Coal stops talking as he realizes that only Benjy is paying any attention to him at all, and not much attention at that.

Coal: It’s just another tourist trap…

Coal trails off, staring at Ash, May, Max, and Brock, who are gathered around Max’s pokénav.

Max: A year’s supply of pokéblock!  May this could–

May’s eyes are already sparkling.

<Cutscene>

May’s eyes sparkle as she pictures herself and her pokémon surrounded by a year’s supply of pokéblock.

</Cutscene>

May: Beautifly!  This could be our big break!

Beautifly lands on May’s shoulder and also stares at the pokénav.

Coal: Please, guys.  Tell me you aren’t that stu–

Coal cuts himself off, as Max reminds May to be sure to feed them to all of her pokémon, and not just Beautifly.  Brock meanwhile fantasizes about what the pokéblock will be able to do for him as a breeder.

Coal: That’s good, keep daydreaming and maybe you’ll miss the deadline to…

Ash: So lets go!

Coal: Ash, wait!

Ash, May, Max, and Brock don’t wait; they all start running off towards the crowd in the distance.  Benjy looks around, then starts walking after them.

Benjy: Um…

Coal: Yeah, I’m coming.  Zarking tourist trap.

Coal starts following Benjy off towards the crowd.

Benjy: You said it’s not worth it.  Is it bad pokéblock or something?

Coal replies from a few paces behind Benjy.

Coal: Probably.  I’ve never won, but I do know that the trick house is a bit dangerous.  Then again, potential danger never stopped any ten-year-old with a prize on their mind.

Benjy: Hold on–

With this, Benjy takes off running after Ash and company.

Coal: If it wasn’t, the vultures wouldn’t be circling.

New Scene()

Behind the Trick House, and several yards away, the "vultures" that Coal is talking about aren’t really vultures.  On the grass, along with a pair of Officer Jennies and a Nurse Joy, a couple dozen men and women wearing suits and carrying briefcases mill around, some are trying to set up a booth.

Random Man: Is this the edge of the property?

The man points to a line with his foot.

Random Lady: It’s actually about two more feet in.

A lady with brown skin emerges from a nearby car.  Taking out a megaphone, she gets up on a soap box.

Lady: Remember everyone.  Let the medical team get to them BEFORE you offer to help them sue!

Revert Scene()

Benjy approaches Ash, May, Max, and Brock at the edge of the crowd.

Benjy: Wait up, guys–

Ash and Brock turn towards Benjy as he comes running up.

Ash: Benjy, you need to be quick with these things.  We saved you a spot in line.

Benjy tries to catch his breath.

Benjy: Hold on.  Coal says the trick house is dangerous.

Ash: Dangerous?

Brock: Couldn’t be that dangerous.  Look at all these people here.

Benjy surveys the crowd.

Benjy: Still, it makes me concerned.

Max: He’s just being a spoilsport.  You heard him say that he never won.

Yami Benjy: So if a thousand people jumped off a bridge…

At this point, people crowd around Benjy, making it so that leaving the line would be with extreme difficulty.

Benjy: Where’s Coal?!

Yami Benjy: I don’t know, but if something happens, we can probably fight our way out.  But I’m still not sure what the danger could be.

Benjy: Well, I imagine if some brain-dead troll decided to be an (bleep)hole and yell "fire", which would then cause a human stampede…

Yami Benjy: Unless everyone follows safety protocol.

Benjy: Which ten-year-olds are famous for doing… (sarcasm)

Revert Scene()

Coal approaches one of the lawyers, who appears to recognize him.

Lawyer: That you, Coal?

Coal: M-hm.  Saul, I’m traveling with some people who are…

Lawyer Saul: Gotcha covered.  You want to take out an insurance policy on any of them?

Coal: You guys do that now?

Revert Scene()

With the crowd now packed in around Ash and company (minus Coal), the crowd stares at a small balcony overlooking it.  Benjy is the only one not paying attention to this, as he appears to be daydreaming, and thus is startled when the trick master’s voice is initially heard on the megaphone, and almost trips over Max as a result.  QST.camera now shifts to the balcony, where a short man wearing mis-matched clothes addresses the crowd:

Trick Master: Hello everyone!

The crowd seems to holler back, "Hello Trick Master," however some certain members of the crowd call out different things.  What these things are is drowned out by the majority.

Trick Master: Once again, I, the great trick master, have completed a bran-new masterpiece!

The crowd mostly bursts into applause, but a few boos are heard.

May: Why are they booing?

Benjy: I’m getting a bad feeling about this.

Max: You don’t have to go in, you know.

Benjy gestures to the crowd around him, all packed in.

Brock: Okay, um…

Yami Benjy: They say there’s no way back from the abyss.

Benjy: You are not helping.

Trick Master: And as you’ve surely seen, the first person to complete this new challenge will be gifted a year’s supply of pokéblock!

At this point, another megaphone screeches, this time coming from behind the crowd.

???: In regards to what planet?

Trick Master: I beg your pardon?

May: Is that Coal?

Brock: I don’t know.  Can’t see.

???: What planet’s year are you using as year as the basis for this year’s supply.

QST.camera shifts to the Trick Master, who is slightly red-faced.

Trick Master: How about a lifetime’s supply then?

???: Who’s lifetime?

Yami Benjy: Oo…  Shots fired.

Trick Master: As long as you live, you will never run out of pokéblock!

Crowd Member: Trick Master: 1, Peanut Gallery: 0. (murmur)

The Trick Master now points to his lower left, and as he says the following, line, points out the three entrances that he talks about.

Trick Master: Now listen carefully!  There are three entrances.  One to my left, and two to my right.  Any of them may or may not lead anywhere fruitful.  The first one to reach me will be the winner.  And now, I’ll be waiting on the roof!

In a puff of smoke, the Trick Master vanishes, and suddenly the doors unlock.

Immediately, people begin to stream in, forcing Ash and company along with them, but separating them in the mad rush to get inside, as well as kicking up a huge amount of dust in the process.  As the dust clears, Benjy finds that the crowd has all pushes past him, and is pouring into the left and center doors, completely ignoring the right one.

Yami Benjy: It looks like our door has already been chosen.

Benjy: Or they all know something we don’t.

Yami Benjy: Remember what Coal said about group mentality.

Benjy: But it makes no sense…

Yami Benjy: It doesn’t have to!

New Scene()

Benjy peeks into a cement room with greenish walls, struggling to get the door open.  Once it’s fully open, Benjy kicks a rock under it to act as a wedge to prevent the door from automatically closing.  After doing this, Benjy walks into the room and looks around, sniffing the air as he does.

Benjy: Seems like a dead end–?

Benjy: !

Benjy quickly jumps backwards, spooked by something.

Yami Benjy: Something the matter?

Benjy: Wasn’t steady…

Benjy scuffs the ground with his foot, rubbing some moss off the floor, and revealing the edge of a trapdoor.

Yami Benjy: What the–

Benjy: It’s a trick house…

Yami Benjy: Then are all the lines on the ground–

Refresh Scene()

Benjy has rubbed all the moss away, revealing the locations of all the trap doors.  At this point, footsteps outside the room cause Benjy to turn around to see who’s in the doorway.

Ash: Benjy?

Ash starts to walk into the room.

Benjy: Ash–stop!

Ash: Huh?

Benjy: Trapdoor right where you are about to step.

Pikachu now peers around the door.

Benjy: Where’s everybody at?

Ash: Not sure…

Ash stares glances down at the floor.

Ash: We all got separated in that mad rush to get in.

Benjy: Of course…

Ash: What have you been doing?

Benjy: Scraping away the moss to see where the trapdoors are.  I just discovered that there’s a door on this wall, but I don’t see a knob…

Ash: They’re supposed to open when you write something on them. You see that scroll in the wall over there?

Benjy turns to see where Ash is pointing.

Ash: You get the code from them and write it on the door.

Ash starts to walk towards the scroll, but Pikachu urgently calls out to him, and Ash pauses just in time to avoid stepping on another trap door.

Benjy: Ash, go that way.

Ash: Right.

Ash follows the path on the floor that Benjy points to get the scroll.

Benjy: Can you bring it here?

Ash: It’s stuck…

Benjy: Stuck?

Ash: I’ll tell you what it says though: "Trick Master is…"  And then this weird word I’ve never seen before.

Benjy: Spell it?

Ash: K-A-W-A-I-I.

Benjy: Okay…  I don’t have anything to write with.

Ash: I saw some guy just use his finger.

Benjy nods, and then writes the code on the door.  Instantly, the door clicks open and slides away horizontally.

New Scene()

Ash and Benjy enter the next room, to find it circular with the ceiling sloping up steeply to a point about 25 feet off of the ground.  In this point in the ceiling, a scroll is wedged, but Benjy doesn’t see this, as he is preoccupied with checking the ground for trapdoors.

Benjy: Don’t see any cracks…

Ash: Hey, Benjy, look up!

Benjy looks up to see the scroll wedged in the crack in the ceiling.

Ash: Let’s see, Taillow!

Yami Benjy: Wait, wait!

Ash calls on Taillow, instructing it to retrieve the scroll from the ceiling.  Taillow immediately flies up to get it, but is suddenly blocked by huge flames that shoot out of the wall in front of it.

Ash: !

The Millennium Gameboy Advance glows brightly.

Yami Benjy: That’s what Coal must’ve meant when he said that this place was dangerous.

Ash: Sheesh…

Suddenly, QST.camera split-screens, showing Ash and Yami Benjy’s expressions in a state of shock.  Coming out of the split-screen, both stare upwards as ashes fall to the ground.

Ash: No way…

Yami Benjy: That was poorly thought out.

QST.camera now shifts upwards to where the scroll has burned to cinders.

Ash: What do we do now?

Taillow: Tailli…

Pikachu: Pika-chu…

Ash: It’s not your fault, either one of you guys.

QST.camera shifts back to the ground level as Yami Benjy stare towards the door to the next room.

Ash: Did we just…

Yami Benjy: Not necessarily.

With this, Yami Benjy walks over to the door.

Yami Benjy: Just means we have to guess.

Ash: Wait!  I think we only get one try!

Yami Benjy: I only need one.

Ash, Pikachu, and Taillow follow Yami Benjy as he approaches the door, and writes something on it.  Immediately, the door clicks open, leaving Ash and his pokémon dumbstruck.

Ash: How did you do that?!

Yami Benjy: I remembered that there’s a word that usually goes with the one from the previous room.  I think it’s pronounced "Kah-why," so I just wrote "Trick Master is" and then that word, on the door.

Ash: And what word was that?

Yami Benjy: Again, I’m not sure of the actual pronunciation, but it’s spelled D-E-S-U.

New Scene()

Ash and Yami Benjy enter a third room, where the room is relatively safe, except for saw-blades guarding the scroll.

Ash: How do we get that?

Yami Benjy: We guess.

QST.StartMusic($A45 (Labyrinth Fight))

Ash and his pokémon watch Yami Benjy nervously as he walks over to the door on the left wall, ignoring the flying blades on the right.  Yami Benjy starts writing on the door, and Ash bites his nails.

<subtext>Trick Master is Loli</subtext>

The door clicks open.

QST.Laughtrack()

Ash now turns to Pikachu:

Ash: Maybe he is from another dimension…

Pikachu: Pika-pika…

QST.Laughtrack()

Ash and his pokémon follow Yami Benjy into the next room.

New Scene()

Ash and Yami Benjy walk around a large circular pool in the middle of the room, at which a scroll is at the bottom.  In the pool is a swarm of Carvanha, which glare malevolently at Ash as he walks past.  Pikachu starts to spark, but Yami Benjy puts out his hand to stop Pikachu from sparking.  In the next second, Yami Benjy zips over to the door and scribbles down something furiously.

<subtext>Trick Master is Chibi</subtext>

The door clicks open.

QST.Laughtrack()

Following this, Ash and Yami Benjy go into the next room.  In this room, the scroll is at the end of a large pathway of blocks moving up and down like in a video game.  These blocks threaten to crush anyone who stays on them too long, moving from their high point to their low point in about 2.5 seconds.  Ash, Pikachu, Taillow, and Yami Benjy stare at these blocks nervously.  Yami Benjy shrugs, and walks over to the door, and Ash/Pikachu/Taillow all turn to follow Yami Benjy with their eyes.

Yami Benjy stares at the door, and Taillow suddenly gets the shivers.  Yami Benjy scratches his head, then quickly then writes something on the door.

<subtext>Trick Master is Waifu</subtext>

Yami Benjy turns back towards Ash and his pokémon, who look at him nervously.  At this moment, the door clicks open, and Ash and his pokémon breathe a long sigh of relief.

QST.Laughtrack()

New Scene()

Ash, his pokémon, and Yami Benjy enter another room where the scroll is suspended in a cage over a pool of magma about thirty feet below the floor level, so that Ash and Yami Benjy can get close enough without getting burned.  As Ash stares, Yami Benjy shrugs and walks over to the door and starts to write.

<subtext>Trick Master is Sugoi</subtext>

With this, the door clicks open.

QST.Laughtrack()

Ash: How is he doing that?

New Scene()

Ash, his pokémon, and Yami Benjy enter another room where the scroll is in plain sight on a pedestal.  Ash starts to retrieve it, but Yami Benjy blocks him, and quickly points out a trapdoor right in front of the pedestal, as well as hammers on swings, ready to strike the person on the trapdoor.

Pikachu now flinches, pointing out flamethrowers and slots in the wall where other things could shoot out.  Ash turns to see Yami Benjy at the door, already writing.

<subtext>Trick Master is Otaku</subtext>

With this, the door clicks open, leaving Ash and Pikachu in a state of surprise.

QST.Laughtrack()

New Scene()

This time, Ash and Yami Benjy enter a room that looks like a hallway where one side is filled with scrolls.  Ash starts to take one, but Pikachu stops him, pointing out that the scrolls are stacked fifty feet high, all the way to the ceiling.  Ash now turns to see that Yami Benjy is already at the door, writing.

<subtext>Trick Master is OVER 9000</subtext>

The door clicks open.

QST.Laughtrack()

Refresh Scene()

Yami Benjy enters the next room, with Ash and his pokémon behind him.  This room is in the shape of an octagon, and entirely empty.

QST.EndMusic($A45)

Yami Benjy enters the room, and slowly scans it.

Yami Benjy: That’s weird…  I don’t see a scroll, or even a door…

Ash: But you haven’t used a scroll since the first room!

Yami Benjy: Right, but what about a door.  I don’t see one.

Pikachu: Pika-pika!

Ash and Yami Benjy both look at Pikachu, as he (Pikachu) points upwards.  Ash and Yami Benjy both stare upwards.  QST.camera tilts upwards as well, zooming in on a door on the ceiling.  QST.camera now rotates, showing Ash, Pikachu, and Yami Benjy all staring up at the door.

Yami Benjy: I suppose I could make a new door, one on our level.

Ash: Except he said that we’re supposed to meet him on the roof…  So this must be…

QST.camera now goes back to normal as Yami Benjy scans the walls of the room again for clues.

Ash: Unless we’re supposed to climb this…

Yami Benjy: That’s impossible.  I suppose I could make handholds in the wall if I used sufficient force, but that dome…

Suddenly, a blue tile falls from the ceiling, and crashes to the floor where it shatters into pieces.  Ash and Yami Benjy turn to stare at the tile, and glance upwards (along with QST.camera) at a speaker that was behind the tile.

Speaker: This is what happens to people who cheat.

Ash turns to Yami Benjy in surprise.

Speaker: I don’t know how you managed to do it, but somehow you managed to cheat your way through my trick house.

Yami Benjy: I did not cheat.

Speaker: Of course you cheated!  I was watching you the whole time!

Yami Benjy: Were you listening too?

The speaker seems to pause.

Speaker: Again, I don’t know how you did it, but I watched you just write the answers on the doors without even looking at the scrolls!  You expect me to believe–

Yami Benjy: You simply underestimate the power of my intuition.

Speaker: Intuition?!  You wrote the answers to six doors in a row without even looking at the scrolls!

Yami Benjy: Yes, I did.

Suddenly, the door behind Ash and Yami Benjy slams shut.

Speaker: Your punishment for cheating will be to–

Yami Benjy: I told you.  I did not cheat.  I do not cheat.

Speaker: –wait in this room for all eternity!

Ash stares at Yami Benjy nervously, who continues to stare at the speaker.

Speaker: Now goodbye. I–

Yami Benjy: Fool.

The sound of a phone hanging up reverberates from the speaker.

Ash: So?

Yami Benjy: He wants to play hardball.  Too bad that’s a game for two.

Ash: You figured it out?

Yami Benjy: Benjy gave me the solution.

Ash: I thought you were…

Pikachu: Pika?

Ash: N-nevermind, what is it?

Yami Benjy: First, we carve handholds into the walls, then we just go right through the ceiling.  It’s a combination of my two ideas, except unlike mine, this one works.

Ash: Dare I ask how he’s…

Ash hesitates as Yami Benjy walks over to the wall, his hand starting to glow with golden light.  Ash gasps as Yami Benjy starts to punch the wall.

New Scene()

May walks along in a room with a giant crowd of people on the second floor of the trick house, desperately searching for Ash, Max, Benjy, and Brock.  Suddenly the floor shakes, which May shrugs off as part of her imagination, walking right past the shaking spot.

Suddenly, the floor shakes again about three yards behind May, who quickly realizes what’s going on when she sees other people rushing away from the large crack in the floor.  As she backs up, May trips, and gasps as a hand emerges from the hole.

Revert Scene()

With one powerful blow, Yami Benjy knocks a hole in the floor large enough for him and Ash to climb through.

Revert Scene()

Seeing the hand sticking out, people start to panic and back up in terror.  One of the nearby trainers, a girl who looks fourteen or fifteen years old calls on her Electrike to use thunderbolt on the hole.

Yami Benjy: Pixielite, mirror force!

Electrike’s thunderbolt arcs towards the hole in the floor, where in a flash, Pixielite flies through and creates an invisible shield, which reflects the attack, zapping Electrike.  Pixielite then flies up into the room, allowing Yami Benjy and Ash to climb through.

Random Trainer: What do you think you’re doing?!

Yami Benjy: What do you think we’re doing?

Ash: Hey, May!

May stares at Ash and Yami Benjy nervously, as someone turns to her and asks her if Yami Benjy and Ash are with her.

Refresh Scene()

Ash, May, and Yami Benjy walk with the crowd.

Ash: So it looks like we all got separated then.

May nods, shivering slightly.

May: But it sounds like you guys were doing exactly what everyone else was doing…

The Millennium Gameboy Advance emits a small pulse of light.

Benjy: Just on a different track, yeah…

May: But I bet you guys weren’t fighting over the scroll the way they were…

Ash: Fighting over the scroll?

Benjy: They all wanted to be first through the door…

May: Not realizing that on the other side they’d just have to do it all over again.

May lets out a long sigh, and Beautifly lands on her shoulder.

Ash: So where are Max and Brock?

May: Who knows…

At this point, Ash, May, and Benjy arrive at the end of the room with a locked door.  Yami Benjy stares at it, studying it.

Yami Benjy: Benjy, I think the answer is–

Yami Benjy is cut off as a loud "whoop" sound comes from the crowd.  Benjy, Ash, and May turn around to see a large commotion.

Ash: What’s going on?

May: Someone found the scroll!  Quick, get out of the way!

Ash, May, and Benjy all dive aside as a sixteen-year-old boy comes rushing towards the door with the scroll in his hand, and almost as quickly get to their feet as several people come rushing after the boy before he can write anything on the door.  All three flinch as more people crash into the pile, having it grow to at least 25 people in total.

Benjy: It’s just like black Friday…!

Yami Benjy: Except no screaming children…  Benjy, if we can get them away from the door, I think I know what the code is.

Benjy: I don’t want to go near them…

Benjy suddenly recoils, almost tripping over a low cube of some kind, but is able to prevent falling on his backside by sitting on the cube.  Benjy sits and sickly stares at the brawl as a couple bloody teeth fly out of the pile.  This makes May cringe and Ash and Benjy quickly grab her before she passes out.  The Millennium Gameboy Advance emits a small pulse of light.

Yami Benjy quickly puts his arm in front of May’s eyes, and she starts to try to remove it, but she is unable to after dealing with what she just saw.  Ash appears to almost throw up after seeing something, when suddenly a very large woman comes charging towards the brawl in giant strides that make the entire trick house shake.

Yami Benjy: Oh no…

May finally manages to push Yami Benjy’s arm away from her eyes just in time to see Brock charging after the woman, Max in the distance behind him.

May: Max!

Max: May!  Ash!

Woman: Group hug!

QST.camera split-screens, showing Ash, May, Max, and Yami Benjy, (in corners)  and, a moment later, the charging woman in the middle who makes a large dive onto the brawl.

The woman lands on the fighters with a loud *crack*.

New Scene()

QST.camera zooms inside the architecture of the trick house to show how the floor’s cracking breaks support beams, which it turn break other support beams with break water pipes and heating vents.  These in turn fall, putting extra pressure on the walls which begin to buckle.

Suddenly the wall nearest the original spot collapses, bringing the fighters crashing down a couple stories.  Ash also starts to fall, but is quickly grabbed by May and Brock, and then by Yami Benjy as they all struggle to get him on solid ground.  At this same time, more pipes break, causing the windows to shatter on the floor below.  Following this, the window frames starts to shift, prompting people to leap through them to the outside of the building.  These window-frames collapse seconds later.

New Scene()

The prize for completing the trick house sits in a warehouse unmoving for the most part as things start to collapse around it.  Suddenly, a grand piano crashes through the ceiling, landing squarely on the pokéblock and squishing it into a sticky mess.  The piano has a violent impact with the ground shortly after that.  This sends keys shooting everywhere, one of which flies towards QST.camera, but falls short of actually hitting it.

New Scene()

The floor sways under Ash and company (minus Coal) as the trick house collapses around them.

Max: What’s going on?!

Brock: It’s collapsing!

Yami Benjy: Quick!  Towards the window!

Brock looks up.

Brock: Are you sure?

Yami Benjy: Now!

With this, Yami Benjy takes off towards the window, Pikachu at his heels, and Ash and company immediately follow.  As they approach the window, Brock, in the back of the group steps on a broken piece of floor (about eight feet from the window) and goes sprawling, but doesn’t go through the floor.

Ash: What now?

Yami Benjy: Ride it like a wave!

May: Huh?

But even as May expresses her confusion, the collapsing wall carries a small area of the floor with it as it starts to fall away from the building.  Yami Benjy instantly drops into a lying-down position, but it’s mostly too late: the floor is falling at the same speed as Yami Benjy.  With this, the wall collapses, leaving Ash and company (minus Coal) to go screaming down the twelve-foot drop towards the ground.

New Scene()

Ash, May, Max, Brock, and Yami Benjy lie at the edge of the rubble of the trick house.  The entire trick house has now collapsed, and dust is billowing into the sky.

Ash: Oww…

A shadow now looms over Ash and company, but May and Max don’t notice as both are out cold.

Saul: Are you injured?  I’ll sue for you!

Brock: No, we’re just fine.  (sarcasm)

Yami Benjy slowly begins to pick himself out of the rubble, as someone shouts at Saul:

Coal: Out of the way of the medics!

Saul jumps aside as two Chansey pushing a stretcher with a little girl on it rush past.  Ash suddenly looks up to see that a Chansey is is holding the arm that he didn’t fall on.  The Chansey are already acting quickly, and have put Max on a stretcher.  May now regains consciousness, but is instructed not to move by an overseeing Blissey.  Yami Benjy assures the Chansey and Blissey that he’s okay, and then proceeds to limp out of the way as May and Max are carried away on stretchers, following Ash, also on a stretcher.

New Scene()

The Chansey lay May’s and Max’s stretchers in the grass about 80 feet from the collapsed trick house.  May starts to get up immediately, despite the Chanseys urging her to stay put, while Max has regained consciousness and groans that his head hurts.  Ash’s stretcher is now placed by two more Chanseys on the grass before they hurry back to the collapsed trick house to look for more injured people.  A third Chansey quickly checks Ash, May, and Max for broken bones, then has Yami Benjy sits down to check his ankle, scribbling frantically on a chart.

Brock: Uh, Chansey–

Chansey: Chansey!

Chansey holds up a chart for Brock to examine.

Brock: I see.

This Chansey now hurries off after the others.

Yami Benjy: Is my ankle–

Brock: Not broken, but you probably sprained it.  Let me see.

With this, Brock puts his backpack down and pulls out some medical instrument to check Benjy’s ankle.

New Scene(@Temporal = Evening)

Ash and company are sitting (except for Coal who is standing), eating dinner about four hundred feet down the road from the Trick House.

Ash: Benjy, I can’t believe you sprained your ankle…

Brock: Ash, you aren’t in any condition to travel either.

Ash: I just want to get to Mauville.

May: Are you sure it will be better by tomorrow?

Yami Benjy: I find it hard to believe as well.

Ash: Don’t doubt Brock’s abilities as a healer.

Ash lets out a long sigh.  Max turns and looks upwards at Coal, whom is still staring at the rubble of the Trick House, eating his stew very slowly.

Max: What–

Coal: I’m just remembering my Trick House challenges.

The top of QST.camera split-screens four ways to show the expressions of Ash, May, Max, and Brock.

Brock: You challenged the Trick House?!

Coal: That’s how I know it’s a giant death-trap.  It always ended more or less like this.

Ash: You mean you participated more than once?

Coal: Twice.  The second time a fire broke out.  That’s when I decided that…

Coal trails off as he stares at the rubble.

Coal: The first time though was just like this…

Coal takes a deep sigh.

Coal: At least you got out alright.

New Scene()

In the rubble of the Trick House, Chansey struggle to free the Trick Master who is upside down, trying to pry his head free from the rubble.  QST.camera now zooms out a ways to show all of the lawyers, standing in a rough circle around the Trick Master, all waiting for the Chansey to figure out how to free him.

Revert Scene()

Coal: And just like last year the vultures are closing in.

May: I don’t see any vultures…

Brock: It’s just a figure of speech.

Coal: That’s what we call them.

Coal gestures at the lawyers in the distance.

Coal: They’re personal injury attorneys.  When people get moderately hurt, they’ll come help you sue for damages.  Of course, they get a cut of whatever you win.

Ash: Only moderately hurt?

Max: What happens if they get badly hurt?

Coal: We don’t call them people after this happens.  The correct term is "statistics".

In the distance, the Chansey finally dislodge the Trick Master, who sits up and stares at the lawyers.  As he stares, he lets out a long cry:

Trick Master: Aaaaaaaaaargh!

Coal: Looks like they finally got him free.

Benjy puts down his bowl of stew to watch.

Benjy: It’s The Jerry Springer Show all over again.

Trick Master: Nooooooooooo!
