New Scene(QST.camera.setDefaultSynchronization())

QST.camera zooms in on the Tree of the World’s Beginning, and into the control room, where Ash, May, Max, Ciri, Yami Benjy, Dren, and Lucario are lying on blankets.  Towards the side of the room, Brock (fully clothed) is cooking something.  The smell from the pot is slightly visible, and wafts over those asleep, causing them to turn.  May is the first to wake up, and looks around.

May: Brock, is that you?

Brock: You’re awake–and you’re about to fall on your brother.

May looks down.

May: My vision’s still blurry.

May now falls into a kneeling position, and looks at her hands intensely

Lucario: That will last for a few hours, until your aura regenerates.

Max now sits up, bonking his head into May’s.

May: Ow!

Max: May, is that you?

Max looks at May, as if he’s unable to recognize May’s physical appearance.

May: Is your vision blurry too?

Max: Am I wearing glasses?  I can hardly see anything.

May: I can’t tell.

Brock: You’ve got your glasses on.

From where he had fallen behind the pedestal, Benjy wakes up and stretches.

Benjy: Brock?

Brock: You’re up too?

Benjy: Where did you come from?

Refresh Scene()

Ash and company, with Lucario and Dren are all having breakfast from Brock’s pot.  Ash, May, Max, and Dren all seem extremely near-sighted by the way they eat their breakfast.

Ash: So you and Kidd found us late last night?

Brock: Yeah, it was about ninety minutes after the glowing stopped.

May: So where’s Kidd?

Brock: She left after we found you guys.

Max: That explains Qliqli.

Ciri stares down at her breakfast, unable to eat it because she’s shaking too much to hold a utensil steady.

Max: She just abandoned us?

Brock: I guess.  She said that she wanted to beat the crowds.

Brock scratches his chin.

Brock: Which doesn’t make sense in context.

Benjy: She probably meant before the reporters got here.

Brock: …She said she wasn’t telling anyone…

Benjy: I hate to tell you Brock, but I trust her as much as a used car salesman in debt.

Max: Since when do people sell used cars? (whisper to May, Ciri)

Ciri: I think that’s the point. (whisper to May, Max)

May: Or it could be something from his planet. (whisper to Max, Ciri)

Ciri: Also true. (whisper to May, Max)

Dren lies down, placing his bowl beside him.

Max: Finished already?

Dren: My head hurts.  I don’t think if I ate anymore I could keep it down.

Lucario has now finished his cereal, and looks up straight at Benjy.

Lucario: How did you know?

Benjy: Know what?

Lucario: Not you, Benjy.

At this time, a long loud yawn comes from next to Benjy, and Benjy reaches down and picks up Celebi, putting it in his lap.

Lucario: I was talking to Reitah.

Max: Reitah?

Celebi yawns in Benjy’s lap.

Celebi: Bi.

May: Who’s Reitah?

Lucario points at Celebi.

Celebi Reitah: Celah.

Ash: Is that Celebi’s name?

Lucario: How did you…?

Reitah: Rhii.  Celebi.  Bi-bi-Celeh.

Lucario tenses up.

Lucario: What?!

May: Ciri, what’s it saying?

Ciri: Don’t know.  I can only understand them when they speak in two syllables.

Lucario: But that’s impossible!

Lucario abruptly turns in the direction of May, Max, Brock, Dren, and Ciri.

Max: What’s wrong?

Lucario: It says it went back in time to when Aaron was here.

Reitah: Bi-celebi-bi-bi-bi!  Cel-bi-bi-celebi.

Reitah climbs up Benjy’s shirt and points over at a time flower nestled in the crystal crates.

Reitah: Bi!  Zi!

Reitah now starts playing with Benjy’s hair, and Lucario starts to get up to activate the time flower, but collapses to his knees midway to the time-flower, so Brock volunteers to activate it.  Lucario accepts this, and Brock goes over to the time-flower and taps it gently.  The time-flower instantly activates in a flash of light, projecting an image of Aaron walking up to the pedestal.  All fall silent to watch.

The projection of Aaron suddenly looks around, then sighs.

Projection_of_Aaron: I know you’re there.

A projection of Celebi’s antennae wave from behind the crate, then disappear.  Aaron appears to sigh.

Projection_of_Aaron: So you know I can’t follow you through time, huh.

Aaron smiles, then goes to the pedestal, and places his hands on the pedestal, and suddenly ripples of red, yellow, blue, and black pulse from his hands into the pedestal, and then into the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Projection_of_Aaron: If you’re scrying me, Mirazu, that makes it simpler.  I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but this is your last chance to go home, and the same goes for Zamorak.

The projection of Aaron now falls silent.

Projection_of_Aaron: Lucario, I’m sorry…

Lucario flinches.

Projection_of_Aaron: I don’t have the power to protect us, but this tree does.  Thus I’m priming this tree for a massive explosion should either Mirazu or Zamorak use their power.  The queen forbade it, but I don’t serve her anymore.  This tree will keep us safe one way or another.

The Projection of Aaron falls silent again, and Lucario gasps.

Projection_of_Aaron: But if I know one thing about Mirazu, he’s not suicidal.  Mutually assured destruction is the only way to deal with with a god.  Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go.

The pedestal suddenly glows brightly.

Lucario: We…  We undid Aaron’s…

Suddenly the light from the pedestal intensifies, then the time-flower’s recording suddenly cuts out, leaving Lucario in a state of shock.

Ash: So Aaron–

Lucario suddenly leaps over and grabs Ash by the shoulders, causing Ash to drop his cereal bowl.

Lucario: We have to undo this!  As soon as our aura replenishes, we–

Ash: What are you talking about?! (confused)

Lucario: We just disabled our only protection against the gods!

Brock: Uh, calm down?

Lucario: This is no time to be calm!  As soon as they know, they’ll return and kill us all!

Brock: Uh, no they won’t.

Lucario now turns to Brock and starts walking over towards him.

Lucario: You don’t underst–

Lucario now trips, and falls flat on his face, cutting himself off, mid-word.  Lucario slowly gets to his feet.

Ciri: Even without the tree, they still can’t come back.

Lucario: What are you talking about? (curious)

Brock: It’s called the Articles of Communion.

Lucario looks up at Brock curiously.

Lucario: They follow a document?

Max: It’s sort of a misnomer.

Ciri: The real question though is how do we get out of here?

Ash: Can’t we just go back the way we came?

Dren: You do remember those red blobs, don’t you?

Lucario: Hold on!  What are the Articles of Communion?!

Ciri: This isn’t the place to discuss it.  Dren, can you warp us out of here?

Dren: I do that in this tree for some reason.

Lucario: You must tell me!

Ciri: This isn’t the place to talk about it!

Lucario suddenly launches a punch at Ciri, but the punch misses as Lucario is dizzy.  Still this action shocks the others.  Both Lucario and Ciri now collapse to the ground as if they’ve been hit.

Brock: Easy, easy…

Lucario: I don’t take orders from you!

Ciri: Lucario, you’re not re-transmuting the mew aqua.  If you stay here, I’ll destroy this tree and you along with it.

QST.camera goes into split-screen on Ash, May, Max, Brock, Benjy, and Dren.

Lucario: You expect me to believe you’re that powerful?

Ciri stands up and tosses her hair.

Ciri: I don’t really care one way or another.  It’s just fair warning.

Lucario: Then before…  Why didn’t you…

Ciri: I’ll answer that when we’re at the castle.

With this, Ciri looses her balance and crashes to the ground again.

Max: I know what you’re thinking, but she’s not like Aaron!  When she says something, she means it!

Lucario: Then you’ve heard of these articles too?

Max: Of course!

Lucario: And they’ll stop the gods?

Ash: I’m not positive, but I think they killed two of them.

Lucario: Hmm…

New Scene()

Ash and company walk out of the corridor to the room into a large tunnel in the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Dren: …So Deep Blue didn’t have anything to do with it…

May: Well, if Aaron could turn it into a bomb, maybe this Deep Blue character can do the same?

Dren scratches his head.

Dren: That…  is possible.

Brock: You never asked him?

Dren: Lets put it this way…  He’s not someone you can just go talk to.

Brock nods.

Dren: And if I did ask him about this Tree, and the didn’t know, then I’ve just…

Lucario: But given the proximity to where you’re working, that’s unlikely.

Brock: Where were you working?

Dren: Oldale Town.

May: That’s where Ciri lives!

Lucario: Hold on, I’m sensing something behind us…

All turn around as blobs start poking out of the walls of the Tree of the World’s Beginning.

Max: Everyone run!…  Huh?

Max turns and sees that no one is following his instruction.

Ash: I can barely walk, let alone–

As Ash says this, the red blobs all rocket towards Ash and company:

QST.Lyrical::playTune(using template$C01, DEFINE.lyrics.AS) {

You trainers all nutterfolk, your mothers must been breathing smoke♪

The blobs shoot towards Ash and company (+Dren) who are walking away as fast as they can, given their loss of aura.

Ash tries to run, but he trips and falls (at the word hole in the above music).

If escape you do choose renew, we still glomp you till you turn all blue♪

Blobs crash into May, then into Max and Brock, then into Ciri, who appears to stick out her hand into one of the blobs, and tries to snap her fingers, but fails.

}

The blobs now crash into Dren and Yami Benjy, while Ash is struggling to stand.  Suddenly the blob around Ciri’s arm explodes, ending the tune.  A split-second after this, all of the other blobs explode in a gigantic fireball, the force of which hurls everyone down the corridor amidst of burning goo.  They finally reach a stop fifteen meters down the corridor.

Brock: What was that?

Ciri: I had a little magic left.

Ash: That was a little magic?! (concerned)

Pikachu: Pika…

Ciri: When they get hit by the debris, they all go off.

With this Ciri appears to out on the ground, and Brock rushes over to her.  Ciri looks up at him as he reaches her.

Ciri: I’m fine.

QST.camera now shifts to Dren, who is getting to his feet.

Dren: But we’re not!  There are more coming!

Suddenly, red blobs start oozing out of the wall at the far end of the hall.  Lucario turns to see this, then leaps backwards towards Ash and company, charging an aura sphere.

Lucario: I’ll take these…

The blobs emerge from the wall and go shooting at Ash and company.  Lucario steps forwards hurling his aura sphere through all four of them, destroying the blobs, then the sphere crashes into the far wall, damaging the wall.  Suddenly, just as the dust has cleared, red blobs shoot through the hole it the wall in such a dense cloud that it makes it hard to tell how many there are in total.

Lucario: Oh, (bleep).

May: What have you done?!

These blobs rush towards Ash and company, which prompts Pikachu and Celebi to launch electric and psychic attacks respectively.  These stun the blobs and knock them back a tiny bit, but once these attack finish, the blobs slowly start to move towards Ash and company again, leaving Pikachu and Celebi shocked that their attacks didn’t work.

Pikachu: Pika?!

Celebi grabs it’s head

Celebi: Bi-ii-ii!

Max: This is bad!

QST.camera suddenly goes into split-screen on Ash and company (8-way); Pikachu and Celebi share their trainer’s slice of the screen; for about half a second.  Coming out of the split-screen, a missile suddenly shoots by the heads of the group, striking the blobs and meeting the first of the blobs a mere fifteen feet from them, then explodes forwards, such that Ash and company, Lucario, and Dren, aren’t affected by the explosion.  All of the aforementioned watch this, dumbfounded as the light of the explosion lights up their faces.

Kidd’s Uncle’s Voice: Kidd! (upset::worried)

Lucario: Who’s there?

Kidd’s Uncle’s Voice: Where’s Kidd?!

Kidd’s Uncle suddenly drops down from a hole in the ceiling, with a large missile launcher resting on his shoulder aimed at the blobs.  As the dust clears, these blobs can be seen escaping the corridor as fast as possible.

Kidd’s Uncle: Where’s Kidd?!

Brock: Uhh…  She left.  She…

Kidd’s Uncle: –knew I was coming.  I see.

Lucario: Who are you?

Kidd’s Uncle: I’m the one who told her not to go here, and the one who’s going to save you from suffocating in anima!  All of you, this way!

Kidd’s uncle points down the corridor, and with Brock helping Ciri to her feet, all move in this direction as fast as they can, which isn’t very fast.

Kidd’s Uncle: Worn out?

Ash: Yeah…

Max: What’s your relationship to Kidd?

Kidd’s uncle scans the corridor.

Kidd’s Uncle: The knucklehead’s my niece.  Down that corridor!

Shakily, Ash and company, Dren, and Lucario all move down the corridor, but after a couple dozen steps Lucario turns around.

Lucario: It’s a dead end!

The others stop in their tracks at this revelation.

Kidd’s Uncle: Hurry!

May: But it’s a dead end!

Kidd’s Uncle: I know!  Hurry before reinforcements come!

Lucario looks nervous.

Benjy: Come on, I think I know what he’s doing.

Benjy tugs on Lucario’s arm gently.

Benjy: I think I know what he’s going to do.

Lucario: Hm…

Benjy tugs on Lucario’s arm again, and this time lucario is willing to follow him.  Meanwhile, Kidd’s uncle continues staring at the wall.  Kidd’s Uncle’s tone suddenly changes:

Kidd’s Uncle: I’ll get you out of here, don’t worry.  Just get up against the far wall, and quickly.

Max: Is there some kind of hidden exit?

Benjy and Lucario are the last to arrive at this wall, and Kidd’s Uncle scans the far wall, then nods.

Kidd’s Uncle: Alright.

Kidd’s uncle runs and starts running towards Ash and company.

Kidd’s Uncle: Lets roll!

Brock: Which way!

Kidd’s Uncle quickly reaches the wall and places his missile launcher at the wall, with about three feet between the tip of the missile launcher and the wall.  Brock looks dumbstruck at Kidd’s Uncle.  Brock starts to speak, but Ciri cuts him off.

Ciri: You’re going to b-blow us all to bits!

Kidd’s Uncle: The full force of the blast is directed forwards, but if you insist…

Kidd’s Uncle steps forwards placing the end of his missile launcher against the wall, and before anyone can react, pulls the trigger.  Instantly, a huge hole is blasted into the wall leaving a large ball of fire behind it, although this fire fades in less than one second, leaving a clear path to the outside of about 40 feet long and 12 feet wide.

Kidd’s Uncle darts into this tunnel, instructing the others to follow.  Lucario hesitates, but Dren picks him up and carries him forwards.  As Benjy runs, the Millennium Gameboy Advance activates with a small pulse of light.

Yami Benjy: Urgent question!  Are we at ground level?!

Kidd’s Uncle shakes his head.

Max: Then what are we doing running to–

Max finds himself unable to finish as he stares down the 300-foot drop to the ground below.  A faint buzzing in the background slowly grows louder.

Kidd’s Uncle: Don’t jump before I give the word!

Yami Benjy quickly takes off and unzips his backpack, then quickly equips his duel disk, before re-zipping and re-equipping his backpack.

May: What are you doing? (To Yami Benjy)

Yami Benjy doesn’t reply to May.  Lucario and Kidd’s Uncle suddenly both appear to sense something in unison and turn around.  Blobs are pouring out of the far wall again, which is now about 250 feet away.  Kidd’s Uncle steps back from the edge, causing both Ciri and Ash to leap aside as he turns around, and fires twice at the advancing blobs.  These missiles hit at a distance of about 95 feet, and explode in a gigantic curtain of fire.

Kidd’s Uncle: Ready?

QST.camera goes into split-screen on Ash and company for a half-second, then Lucario turns back around, visibly nervous.  Suddenly a blob comes hurdling through the wall of flame, but Lucario shoots an aura sphere at it, destroying it.  The buzzing meanwhile is growing louder.

Kidd’s Uncle: Set!

The buzzing becomes louder as a small airplane appears on the horizon.

Kidd’s Uncle: On the count of three, don’t hesitate! (urgent)

Kidd’s Uncle: One…

The plane is now about 100 feet away, heading straight for where they are.

Kidd’s Uncle: Three!

Kidd’s Uncle’s plane zooms right by the tree, towards the opening in the wall, and Kidd’s Uncle instantly leaps from the ledge.  He’s followed by Lucario, Ash (who slips with Pikachu on his shoulder), Brock, Yami Benjy, Ciri, and Max said order.  May stands completely frozen, but is quickly grabbed by Dren as he takes off.  QST.camera goes into slow motion as they descend in free-fall.

Kidd’s Uncle lands gracefully in the pilot’s seat, from which he quickly assumes the role of the pilot, with Lucario landing almost as gracefully in the seat behind him on the diagonal.  (This plane has two columns of seats)  Brock lands hard on the seat at the end of the plane on his rear end while Ash lands on the back of a seat and is almost knocked out of the plane by the plane’s velocity, but manages to grab onto the back of the seat that he hit himself on, to avoid this.  Pikachu clings tightly to Ash’s shirt.

Yami Benjy and Max both miss the plane entirely, Yami Benjy having over-jumped and Max having jumped to late.  QST.camera now exits slow motion.  Upon not feeling seven vibrations, Kidd’s Uncle turns around and gasps in horror.  Only Ash, Brock, and Lucario are fully on board, with Ciri hanging onto the back of the plane’s wing with one hand.

Dren suddenly warps May onto the plane, but Max and Yami Benjy are still in free-fall, and QST.camera moves downwards through the plane towards them.  Both are too stunned to notice the other.

QST.camera synchronizes with Benjy’s entire prospective, which is now moving at a crawl, as he finds himself subject to strange visions:

New Scene(Benjy.getPerspective())

Benjy is standing in an odd purple observatory.  Benjy looks up, to see three gigantic moons in the sky through the opening in the shutter in the ceiling.

New Scene(Benjy.getPerspective())

Benjy is standing in a room, about 15 feet long and ten feet wide with a group of kids.  In the palm of his right hand is a glowing green symbol that resembles a book in a circle.  Standing across from his is a blond-haired girl who’s right palm contains a glowing blue symbol that is otherwise nearly identical to Benjy’s (except for the color and very small patterns).  The rest of the kids all stand behind this girl, watching her and Benjy nervously.  A male teacher stands behind them.  To Benjy’s right, are some glowing objects on a table that look like lava lamps.  A door is on the left side of the room (as per Benjy’s perspective).  The girl and Benjy stare at each other nervously.

New Scene(Benjy.getPerspective())

Benjy is standing before the teacher, who is sitting in the front of a very small classroom, about 6 feet wide and 8 feet deep.

Teacher: Prove me wrong?  Then how about the next time your life is flashing before you’re eyes, you use that moment to do something about–

The teacher is cut off by a clicking sound.

New Scene()

Benjy shoots the disk part of his duel disk at the plane, which acts as a grapple and catches on the airplane’s rim, yanking Benjy through the air after the plane.  The jerk from the cable reaching it’s full length nearly rips Benjy’s arm off and almost dislodging the disk.  This triggers a small jolt for those aboard the airplane, and causes Benjy to swing forwards to where Max notices him as he (Max) continues to fall.

Max: Benjy!

Benjy: Satolite!!!

Sensing urgency, Satolite zips from it’s ball.  Max calls out for help again, and Satolite suddenly nabs him in mid-air, then begins to fly level with Benjy who is being dragged behind the plane through the air.  QST.camera shifts to the plane where everyone aboard looks wildly around to see where the sudden jerk came from, and May suddenly realizes Max is gone.

May: Max!

May looks around wildly.

May: Ciri!!!

Ciri’s voice: I’m here!

All, save for Kidd’s Uncle turn their attention to where Ciri’s voice came from, rushing to the left side of the plane where Ciri is holding onto the airplane’s wing.

Ash: Uh–

Benjy’s duel disk now catches Brock’s eye, and Brock darts over to see Benjy being pulled behind the plane on the cord that holds the disk to the base.  Brock freezes dumbfounded.  Benjy is just as dumbfounded by Brock’s noticing this, but holds tightly onto the base.  Max and Satolite are also visible now to Brock.

Brock: Max!  Benjy!

Ash darts over to where Brock is…

Ash: What happened to–

Ash gasps in horror.

Pikachu: Chu-chupi!

Suddenly the plane rocks from turbulence, and starts to detach the disk from the plane’s rim.  Ash instantly grabs it, and is almost pulled out of the plane himself, but Brock grabs him to prevent this from happening.

Ash: Ready Brock?

Brock: What?

Ash: Don’t let go of me or the plane!

Brock grabs the back of a seat, and Ash steps back in an attempt to drag the disk backwards to wrap the cord around a seat.  Ash isn’t quite strong enough, and suddenly the force of the wind rips the disk from his hands.  Ash stares in disbelief for a split-second (story time) which lasts for two seconds (real time) before he realizes that Lucario is also holding onto the cord, and quickly wraps it around the seat the way Ash was going to do.  Ash immediately slumps backwards in relief.  Almost immediately, the plane wobbles again as May and Dren try to pull Ciri in from the wing.

Kidd’s Uncle: Careful!  You’re cause–

Dren: Shut your pie hole!

Dren quickly grabs onto Ciri’s wrist while May holds onto his leg.  Using May as an anchor, Dren grabs Ciri’s other hand, and pulls her up onto the wing, which causes the plane to teeter precariously.

Kidd’s Uncle: We’re about to–

Dren: Shut up!

Ciri suddenly leaps into the plane off of the plane’s wing, causing the plane to wobble precariously, but Kidd’s uncle smiles to himself.

Kidd’s Uncle: These kids aren’t too shabby.

Ciri comes crashing down on top of Dren, causing the latter to turn bright red, as Ciri quickly works to extract herself.  Behind her, Satolite now lets Max down into the plane.

May: Max!

Dren: Quickly!  Get your trainer!  (To Satolite)

Satolite quickly lifts off and is behind Benjy a split-second later.  As the zipper handles of Benjy’s backpack dangle in the wind, Satolite quickly grabs the zipper handle and zips up the backpack.  This makes Benjy cringe

Satolite: Coo!

Satolite now grabs Benjy by the backside, pulling him towards the plane, and QST.camera zooms out as Kidd’s uncle accelerates the plane with a discreet smile.

Lucario: Where are we headed?

Kidd’s Uncle: Onuduran castle.

Benjy sits down in the plane, and begins looking through his backpack.  Then he rewinds the cord of his duel disk and places it in his backpack, which May notices out of the corner of her eye.  Benjy then collapses, completely winded.

Ash: Is that everyone?

Ciri: We’re all here.  Pokémon all included.

As Ciri says this, Benjy’s Celebi pops its head out of her shirt.  Kidd’s Uncle presses a button that causes the top of the plane to appear like a convertible.  Ash suddenly holds his back and collapses to the floor of the plane.

Ash: Owowow…  This was a bad idea.

Kidd’s Uncle chuckles.

Kidd’s Uncle: But we all survived, didn’t we?  I’d say all’s well that ends well.

Benjy is too out of breath to react, but Dren, Brock, and Lucario all glare at Kidd’s Uncle, while May and Max shiver.  Ciri appears to be trembling.

Brock: That doesn’t mean anything in retrospect.

Kidd’s Uncle: It doesn’t?

May: He did save us…  Sort of. (whisper)

Max: You didn’t just almost plummet to your death. (slightly louder whisper)

Kidd’s Uncle: Sorry, I figured since you had survived for that long in the Tree of the World’s Beginning, I thought you’d be able to easily handle something simple like boarding a moving plane.

Brock: So this brings up the question, are you demented? (angry)

Kidd’s Uncle: Surviving in that thing is a difficulty of B.  Boarding a moving plane has a difficulty of C

Brock: You still didn’t answer my question. (angry)

Kidd’s Uncle: To be honest, I’m not sure.

The Millennium Gameboy Advance glows brighter than usual.

Yami Benjy: There’s reckless, and then there’s stupid.  This was purely the latter.

Kidd’s Uncle: But you all jumped with me, yes?

Yami Benjy: We thought you had coordinated it better.

Kidd’s Uncle nearly bursts out laughing.

Dren: And the answer is no.  Not everyone jumped.  May was unable to.

May looks slightly embarrassed.

Kidd’s Uncle: Really?  I don’t understand.  Most people appreciate being rescued.  You all did make it out okay. (teasing)

Ciri starts to walk towards the front of the plane, and begins speaking in a very solemn tone, shivering with rage.

Ciri: We’re upset that you nearly killed us.  Let that sink in.  You’re idea of a rescue nearly killed us.  When we jumped, we landed where we did out of sheer coincidence.  Nothing more, nothing less.  And no, we’re not okay, thanks for asking. (angry)

Lucario: What do you mean?

Ciri: Benjy’s arm is clearly dislocated.  Ash will probably have back problems for the rest of his life.

Kidd’s Uncle: That’s still–

Ciri: Shut it.  My hand and arm are probably going to be numb for the next week.  Brock, you look like you have whiplash.  This so-called rescue nearly killed us.

Kidd’s Uncle: Even so, they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Ciri: That’s only something morons say.  It actually makes you weaker.

Kidd’s uncle starts to talk, but Ciri silences him again.

Ciri: Don’t try and justify your actions, or I’ll put you under citizen’s arrest for criminal stupidity.  You nearly killed us, that’s all there is to it.

Kidd’s Uncle: Then I’d recommend thinking twice about anyone else trying to save you. (serious)

All those on the plane fall briefly silent.

Ciri: And what in your cute little head makes you think I didn’t?  I expected that someone who could just rush into the Tree of the World’s Beginning would be more skilled than that.

A slight hint of sadness is detected in Ciri’s tone, which Kidd’s Uncle appears to pick up on.

Kidd’s Uncle: I’m sorry.

A tear starts to form in Ciri’s eye.

Max: Ciri…

Kidd’s Uncle: I thought that you…

Kidd’s Uncle hesitates, trying to grasp the right words.

Kidd’s Uncle: …would be different.  In retrospect, it was rather foolish.  I won’t make that mistake again.

Tears now roll down Ciri’s cheeks as she stares at her right arm, which she was using to hold onto the plane.

Kidd’s Uncle: So they were just kids after all.  Still in a few years…  No, it’s none of my business.

Brock kneels down and relocates Yami Benjy’s arm, first by removing the duel disk.

Kidd’s Uncle: Something I should tell you.  Those blobs you saw are like an immune system for the Tree of the World’s Beginning.  Since the Tree is made of anima, those blobs will go after anything that isn’t alive, like your clothing or the devices you carry.  That’s also why they don’t go after pokémon.

The Millennium Gameboy Advance glows softly.

Benjy: That makes sense.

May: It does?

Benjy nods.

Benjy: And May, thank you. (whisper)

May blushes, then suddenly faints, but Lucario catches her before she can hit the floor of the plane or bonk her head on a seat.

Benjy: Anyway, anima works with life.  So it makes sense that it would want to remove the things that aren’t alive.

Ash: How so?

Benjy: It’s like oil and water.  Water is a polar molecule, which mean that part of it has a slight negative charge and part has a slight positive charge, whereas oil has no charge anywhere.  So the charged parts of the water molecules tend to come together, and push the oil molecules away.  I think something like that must have been going on with that tree.

Lucario: I still don’t get why this applies to Mew Aqua though.

Benjy: Mew aqua wants to surround living things.  So to do that it removes non-living things.

New Scene()

Eileen stands on a balcony of the Onuduran castle, staring off towards the Tree of the World’s Beginning.  Her hands are pressed together in front of her chest.  The wind blows by her, rustling her dress.

Eileen: Just who was that woman anyway?

Cutscene<Flashback>() {

Eileen turns to look back down the hallway, and sees a woman, dressed head-to-toe in yellow robes walking towards her.  Eileen stares at her, trembling; QST.camera shakes slightly whenever Eileen trembles.  The woman now speaks, with the Narrator’s voice.  (This woman is the Narrator)

Narrator: I’m a friend!

Eileen: A friend?!

}

Eileen: What did she mean in that I helped her write the script?  I never helped write anything.  I’ve never written anything either, except in school and in my diary…  She must have been speaking metaphorically.

Eileen’s hair and dress blows again in the wind.

Eileen: That, or she’s just a schizophrenic that happened to pass by.  If that’s the case, then I feel silly putting her prophecy to the test.

Eileen’s hair and dress blows again as the wind starts to pick up, blowing more strongly.

Eileen: No, this is to prove I’m not crazy.  I must apply the scientific method.  I was the last person to see grandma, and other people saw the lady in yellow, so she wasn’t my hallucination.

Eileen now has to alter her stance as the wind continues to pick up.

Eileen: Even if she was crazy, I have to admit she made me feel better–what is with this wind?!  It’s like a storm is coming!

The wind blows for another five seconds (real time), before suddenly blowing over, and Eileen stares up at the sky again, where a tiny black dot is now visible.

Eileen: Huh?  What’s that?

The object in the sky is slowly getting larger as it gets nearer, and after a few seconds, a faint rumbling can be heard.

Eileen: That airplane is fly awfully low…

New Scene()

On Kidd’s Uncle’s airplane, Ash is lying on the floor and appears to be in moderate pain.  Dren stands at the back of the plane, staring at the wall.

Brock: How’s your back now?

Ash grits his teeth.

Ash: Just painful where I landed.

Pikachu: Pika-chu…

Kidd’s Uncle: We’re going to be landing soon.  I’ll take him down as gently as possible.

Brock: Got it.

Ash squirms.

Dren: Darn it.

Max walks up to Dren, as the airplane slowly starts to descend.

Max: Hey Dren, is it?  Something the matter?

Dren: There’s just one piece of information we’re missing.

Max: What’s that?

Dren: How did the Tree of the World’s Beginning come to be in the first place?

Dren: And more importantly, does Deep Blue know about it?

Kidd’s Uncle: Well I don’t know the answer to that one.  The experts say it’s been here for millions of years.

Dren: That’s not a good sign.  But I’m not about to tell this guy about Deep Blue.

May approaches Dren’s ear.

May: But we purified it!  So there shouldn’t be anything to worry about! (whisper to Dren)

Dren: I didn’t think of this at the time, but maybe it needed to be purified to work.  It’s not likely but– (whisper)

Ciri suddenly turns around in her seat.

Ciri: What?

Dren: Lets talk it over on the ground.

Ciri seems to be fine with this.

Revert Scene()

Eileen recognizes that the plane is starting to land, and runs into the castle, to go downstairs.  After darting down the hallway, she dashes down three flights of stairs before she reaches the zeroth floor, and darts out into the garden.  In the distance, Kidd’s Uncle lands the plane, and it comes to a stop about fifty feet from the edge of the garden, leaving Eileen staring at it.

Eileen hesitates at first, then suddenly comes rushing towards the plane, along with four of the staff members that live in the castle.  As they arrive, steps descend from the side of the plane, and once they reach the ground the door opens.

Benjy descends first, somewhat jittery, just as Eileen and her staff arrive.  May and Max descend after Benjy, followed in turn by Lucario.

Lucario: Eileen, we need you to get the medical staff.

Eileen: What happened?!

Lucario: Ash hurt his back, but it’s nothing serious.

Eileen turns to one of the staff members who seems to understand without Eileen saying anything.

Eileen: Have Wally bring the stretcher.

Staff Member: The one with wheels?

Eileen nods, and the woman darts off back towards the castle.  Brock now pokes his head out of the plane and looks around.

Eileen: So she was right.  But it might be coincidental.  Even a broken clock can be right once a day–

Eileen is snapped out of her pondering by a question from May.

May: Where’s Jenny?

The three remaining staff members suddenly look sad.

Eileen: We haven’t seen her since yesterday afternoon.

Eileen: I don’t know how to explain what I saw that evening, so I’m not going to mention it.  But I should prepare them anyway.

Eileen looks solemn.

Eileen: We fear the worst though.

Benjy: And that is?

Eileen: I wasn’t expecting that

Eileen: She’s not with us anymore.

Benjy shivers, signaling to Eileen that he understands without her having to state explicitly that Jenny is probably dead.

Max: But you haven’t been able to find her?  Even with all these people?

Eileen: We’re still searching.

Refresh Scene()

The person that left to get the stretcher has now returned with the stretcher and a middle-aged man next to her.  Ripples in the air appear next to the stretcher, and both jump back as Dren warps Ash directly into the stretcher, appearing next to him, much to the surprise of Eileen and her staff.  Following this, Ciri jumps down the six foot drop to exit the plane, landing on her feet, and Brock climbs down after her, with Pikachu riding on his shoulder.

Kidd’s Uncle: All good?

Both Ciri and Brock give Kidd’s Uncle a thumbs-up, and with this, he backs up the plane, and turns it 80 degrees, preparing for take off.

Eileen: Who was that?

Brock: Someone who came to help us.  Kidd’s Uncle I think.

QST.camera now quickly switches to where Dren and Benjy are looking over Ash.

Ash: This doesn’t feel right…

Maid: You might have been in shock at the time.

Benjy: You’re probably fine, we just want to make sure that nothing is broken.

Brock: Yeah, if something’s broken, walking could just make it worse.

Pikachu now jumps down from Brock’s shoulder to Ash’s side.

Eileen: So the prediction was right…  ish…

New Scene()

Ash is lying in one of the beds in a mini-pokémon center.  Eileen, Lucario and a maid are standing at the foot of the bed, with Brock at Ash’s side.  Ciri’s Parcit is also looking over Ash.

Lucario: I can’t understand it too well, but I think it’s saying you’ve just got a really bad bruise.

Eileen: I’m still worried about Ciri’s arm…  I know she only said it will last a week but–

Brock: She’s probably done something like it before.

Lucario: Guys, I’m going to the top floor to see if I can sense Jenny’s aura.  I’m not picking up anything here.

Brock: Will you be able to sense it if she’s actually…

Lucario: Maybe.  Aura lingers a little while after death, but it fades pretty fast.

With this, Lucario walks out of the room into the hallway, where Benjy, May, and Max are returning.  Lucario asks them if they found anything, but Benjy shakes his head and Max says that they didn’t.  Lucario tells them that he’s going to check the top floor.

Benjy: Alright, we’re going to check her bedroom.

Lucario nods, and then darts off.

Max: But she vanished in the middle of the day, so wouldn’t the garden make more sense?

May: And if she’s old, couldn’t it also be possible that she went into town and forgot to tell anyone?

Benjy: Unlikely.

Benjy, May and Max now start to walk again, the sound of Benjy’s voice drifting into the miniature pokémon center.

Benjy: But I think it’s the best we can hope for at this point.  I have no idea though why they didn’t check her bedroom.

Max: Because Eileen says that she never goes into it in the middle of the day.

Benjy: Even still.  That’s one of the first places I would have checked.

New Scene()

Ciri is walking down a hallway with Dren floating behind her.  They approach a door, and Ciri pulls out a paper clip to pick the lock, and then she opens the door, however the only thing inside is a water heater.

Dren: So I don’t their final goal.

Ciri: Understood.  This is just as troubling, but it’s good to know.

Dren: I still have to ask him about the Tree though.

Ciri: Without letting him know that it’s there–

Dren: –Of course.  Just if he left something behind.  Why he thinks the Mew Aqua exists at all.

Ciri: That should be safe.  Still, they don’t appear to change that much when they transform, so I might be able to recognize them when I see them.

Dren now sees that a ceiling panel is moved, and floats up to open up the ceiling and looks around inside.

Dren: Nothing here.

Ciri: I sort of expected that.

Dren: Worth a try.

Dren floats back down.

Dren: Unless this woman has another reason for trying to keep out of sight.  Don’t ask me what that would be.

Ciri: Dren, do the allies you mentioned fight the way you do?

Dren: Not really.  Pie uses fans that generate electricity and Tart uses bolas.

Dren looks around.

Dren: I’ve got a feeling that she’s not here.  Lets go to the roof, I’m going to summon a chimera to search the gardens.

Ciri: What’s that?

Dren: I’ll show you.

Dren zips off down the corridor, and Ciri darts after him, easily keeping up.  QST.camera zooms out to where Dren and Ciri can be seen through the mansion’s windows as they climb up the staircase to the floor above, then open a door and dart out onto the balcony.  Dren reaches in his pocket and pulls something out.

Dren: This is a chimera core.

QST.camera zooms in on the core as Ciri stares at it curiously.

Dren: I can fuse it with other life forms to transform them, watch.

Dren puts his hand out, and a butterfly flies towards his hand.

Dren: Fusion!

Using the animation from Yu-Gi-Oh’s Polymerization™, the core fuses with the butterfly, making it grow to tremendous size and doubling the number of it’s antennae, which causes Ciri to jump backwards in fright.

Ciri: Wait–

Dren: It’ll be able to search better than we can.

Dren now addresses the creature, and holds up a picture of Jenny

Dren: Chimera!  I need you to scan the gardens and the nearby countryside for someone who looks like this.

The four-eyed giant butterfly immediately takes off.  Dren turns back to Ciri.

Dren: And that’s a chimera…

Dren trails off as Ciri watches him, dumbfounded.

Ciri: It understood you?

Dren: The core gives it the capability to understand our language.

Ciri: Your friends…  Do they also use them?

Dren: We all do, why?

Ciri: Because it’s not the first one I’ve seen.

Dren’s hair bristles.

Ciri: About two weeks ago, I came across something like that,

Dren: What was it?

Ciri: I don’t know.  It might’ve been a mutant earthworm; it was moving through the forest destroying trees.

New Scene<Flashback>(@Temporal = Evening) {

Ciri is riding on Flygon over the forest between Oldale and Petalburg at a hight of about 40 feet above the ground.  As they move towards Petalburg, a crash sounds in the distance, and a tree can be seen falling over.  As Ciri and Flygon approach, they slow down, and then more trees fall over.  Then, suddenly, a large tree is pulled right underground.

Ciri: Flygon, fly higher.

Flygon flies another 30 to 40 feet in the air.

Ciri.Narration: We were flying towards Petalburg at the time, and we saw something underground destroying the forests.

Ciri: Flygon, higher please.

Flygon flaps it’s wings and flies to about 90 feet in the air, and then both Ciri and Flygon look down as the thing burrows around trees, causing them to fall over.

Ciri.Narration: I couldn’t tell what it was, but suddenly…

The sound of wood breaking reverberates, and Ciri slowly turns around.

Ciri.Narration: It was behind me!

QST.camera synchronizes with Ciri’s vision as she sees a giant worm or centipede behind her, at least 90 feet long, as it’s easily at her level.  This creature has four eyes, and a mouth full of jagged teeth.  It lets out a long roar, which startles Flygon, and then starts preparing to strike.

Ciri: Rightwards!

QST.camera de-synchronizes with Ciri’s vision as Flygon darts to the right moments before the creature strikes, then takes off northwards through the forest, with the creature right behind it.

Flygon: Fly!

Ciri: It’s gaining!

Flygon dives to pick up speed, but the worm-like creature also picks up speed, knocking trees aside as it rushes after Ciri and Flygon.  This lasts for about three seconds (real time) before the worm-creature tries to strike again.   This strike falls short, so then it lunges forwards, preparing to strike again.

Ciri: Do a barrel roll!

#Starfox_Reference

Flygon rolls to the side to avoid the attack, turning 360 degrees in the air.

Ciri: Now just focus on getting away!

Flygon starts to pick up speed, as the worm-creature rushes after it, crushing trees and knocking other trees over.  Ciri turns back towards the creature which now crashes through a pond, causing a tidal wave of muddy water to spray towards Ciri and Flygon, although Flygon is even faster than the water.  Ciri grits her teeth, and suddenly they’re over the forest again, slowly putting distance between themselves and the creature, which appears to be moving as fast as it can.

Ciri: We’ll be in North Petalburg soon…  I just hate to do this…

Ciri’s hand starts to glow faintly.

Ciri: Tesserum–

The worm-creature tries to strike again, but Ciri and Flygon are too far away.

Ciri: –novas.

Ciri’s hand pulses with light, and suddenly the spell strikes the worm-creature, and explodes in a ball of fire on the creature’s neck, before quickly spreading through the creature, causing its body to explode as the spell travels through it.  (This looks like a lit fuse igniting in against the darkening sky); and lasts until the creature’s 600-foot-long body has exploded and is burning.

Ciri’s Flygon turns around, and lands, and they both approach the now-dead creature.

}

Dren: That wasn’t mine, but it definitely sounds like a chimera.

At this moment, Ciri’s pokégear buzzes.

New Scene(@Temporal -= 2 minutes)

Benjy, May, and Max arrive at Jenny’s bedroom.  May tries the door and finds it locked.

Max: You really should have knocked first.

Benjy now walks up to the door and knocks loudly.

Benjy: Anyone there?! (holler)

Benjy knocks again:

Benjy: Jenny!  Are you in there!  Everyone’s worried something might have happened to you!

Benjy gets no response, so he calls out again.

Benjy: JENNY!  IF YOU’RE IN THERE, PLEASE RESOND!  IF YOU DON’T WE’RE COMING IN TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE SAFE!!!

Benjy, May, and Max all wait for about six seconds (real time).

Benjy: Alright, we’re going in.

Benjy taps one of his poké balls, and Bayleef emerges.

May: What’s Bayleef for?

Benjy: Just in case.

Benjy now pulls out a partially-bend paper clip and inserts the pointy end into the door.  The door clicks, and opens, revealing Jenny’s bedroom.  Jenny’s bedroom is fairly neat with a closet on the far wall and a large bed in the middle of the room, pushed up against the right wall (from Benjy’s perspective); on the left wall are some dressers and a door to a bathroom.

Benjy, May, Max and Bayleef all enter the room, and Bayleef immediately starts sniffing around.  Benjy walks into the bedroom, and May follows him, walking over to the closets.  She opens them revealing that Jenny isn’t in them.

May: Well, she’s not here.

Benjy: Hold on.

QST.camera shifts to where Benjy and Max are staring at the floor outside the bathroom.

Benjy: The floor is wet.

Bayleef now approaches them, sniffing rapidly, and suddenly cringes at the smell of the water.

Max: Do you think she’s–

Benjy: JENNY!

Benjy pounds on the door.

Benjy: JENNY ARE YOU IN THERE!  THE ENTIRE ESTATE IS WORRIED ABOUT YOU!  JENNY!

Muttering something under his breath, Benjy pulls out his paper clip, and uses it to unlock the bathroom door.  As the door swings open, QST.camera goes into split-screen on May, Max, Benjy, and Bayleef, all of whom are frozen in shock and horror.  May starts to look sick.  QST.camera comes out of split-screen, and all turn away.

Benjy: Max, contact Ciri, May, go tell Eileen… (trembling)

Max: Right… (trembling)

May is unable to say anything, but rushes off.

Revert Scene()

Ciri picks up her pokégear and holds it to her ear.

Ciri: What?  Max?

Dren watches Ciri nervously.

Ciri: Oh.  We’ll be right there.

Ciri hesitates for a couple seconds, then turns off her pokégear and puts it back in her pocket.

Dren: What happened?

Ciri: We can stop searching.  She appears to have slipped and hit her head.

Dren nods, and then calls out to the chimera:

Dren: Thanks Chimera!  You can come back now!

The chimera hesitates, then turns towards Dren.

Dren: Come on back, they’ve found her.  Thanks for you’re–

Dren is cut-off as the chimera ignores Dren and instead fires a psybeam-like attack at him and Ciri.  Both leap out of the way as the attack goes crashing into the castle’s roof, causing an explosion.  The flames clear in a matter of seconds, and Ciri and Dren both stare at the hole in the castle’s wall and roof where the attack hit, both uninjured.

Ciri: Dren…

Dren: That’s never happened before.

Ciri: But…

Dren: I mean it.

The chimera now turns back around and flies away, in the rough direction of Oldale Town.

Dren: I’ve got to go.  I better look into this.

Ciri nods.

Ciri: You sure it’s never happened before?

Dren: I’ve never seen it.  It might have to do with Deep Blue moving his plan closer to completion, but I don’t know.  Right now though I need to go.

The wind blows past Ciri and Dren, who are now facing opposite directions.

Ciri: Don’t forget about crimson bind.  It can’t be exorcized.

Dren: I haven’t.  And you need to inform your friends.  I’ve got a feeling that the next time we meet, it will be at the final battle.

Ciri: You stay alive then.

Dren nods, then ripples appear around Dren and he vanishes.

New Scene()

May rushes into the pokémon center area of the castle, and while all dialogue is muted, what she is saying causes Eileen, Lucario, and the staff to start to cry.

Narrator: Eileen’s Grandmother, Jenny, has passed leaving the castle of Onuduran in mourning.  And while the mystery of the mew aqua may have been solved, but other questions remain.  Just what’s going on in Oldale town?  Things are really starting to heat up!
