Ash and company with Scooby and Shaggy stand facing the three Team Aqua grunts.
Sarah: I’m not done yet! Take down direct!
Yami Benjy: Razor leaf!
May: Beautifly! Silver wind!
Sarah’s Mightyena charges, but the combination of razor leaf and silver wind prove too much for it, knocking out both Mightyenas.
Monty: I warned you they were strong!
Both grunts back up, recalling their fainted Mightyenas
Max: Great thinking May! Dark types are weak to bug-type attacks!
Suddenly both of the Team Aqua grunts that attacked them turn and run, leaving Monty staring, wondering what happened.
Monty: Hey–
Sarah: This are is your responsibility!
Shaggy: They actually did it.
Scooby: Reah.
Yami Benjy now stares at Monty, who backs up nervously.
Monty: What are you doing–
Yami Benjy: What’s going on with the hot springs?
Monty: I don’t know! I’m just a low man on the totem pole! They don’t tell me anything!
Yami Benjy: Really now…
Monty: I’m not lying! H-hey! It’s reinforcements!
Ash and company all turn in the direction that Monty is pointing, as does QST.camera, but no one is there.
Shaggy: I don’t see anyone…
QST.camera now turns back towards Monty, who is running away as fast as he can.
Monty: You’ll get yours one day!
New Scene(@Temporal=Afternoon)
Ash and company (minus Benjy) are in the Lavaridge’s Pokémon center, sitting on a cushion across from Scooby and Shaggy. Both hold their heads in their hands, making no effort to conceal their boredom. The floor of the pokémon center is covered in water, and the power is out, meaning that the automatic doors are wedged open. May swings her legs impatiently.
May: This stinks. Why did they have to close down the hot springs.
Max: The whole town is flooded, and that’s all you can think about?
Ash: And it’s dangerous. Both Benjy and Nurse Joy said that–
Suddenly, a tiny ripple of water moves across the flooded Pokémon center floor. This is followed by another ripple, this time bigger, about a quarter second later, and then Benjy emerges from the back room with a push broom, using it to sweep the water towards the entrance to the pokémon center. As Benjy steps through the doorway into the main room, he gives the water another push with his broom, then quickly closes the door sliding behind him to prevent the water from rushing back in.
May: Benjy! Why won’t you let us go back to the hot springs?!
Ash: Um, sorry– (quiet)
Benjy: It’s not safe. As much as I’d like to…
Benjy shakes his head slowly, then gives the water another sweep.
Benjy: I’d love to examine it, but as it is that cavern nearly collapsed on us.
May: But it’s outside!
Benjy: But it’s next to a large cliff! If there’s a landslide–
Shaggy: Hey, do you know if there are any more Snax left?
Benjy: That’s the last of it.
Benjy continues to push the water with his broom.
Benjy: Ash, how’s Brock doing?
Ash shrugs.
Ash: He’s still really out of it.
Max: Ash, I think he’s asleep.
May: Sitting up?
Benjy stops sweeping and walks over to check Brock’s pulse by placing his two fingers on Brock’s wrist.
Benjy: I still can’t figure out what that mind spark was…
May: Is he okay?
Benjy: I think so.
Max: But you don’t know for sure?
Benjy: I don’t even know for sure if he’s real.
Max: I’m just going to pretend you didn’t say that.
Ash: How long until they get the power back on?
Benjy: I don’t know that either.
Benjy gives the water a big sweep.
Benjy: The fuse box is all flooded
Benjy continues sweeping the water.
Shaggy: Are you sure this is the last of the Snax?
Benjy: Normally I’d have you check for yourself, but I don’t trust you touching anything.
Shaggy: This stinks; we still don’t have any word from the others.
Ash: The others?
Shaggy: Scooby and I came here with three of our friends, but we haven’t heard anything from them since this morning.
Max: Where did you see them last?
Shaggy: I said we saw them this morning.
Max: I mean when––I mean where!
Shaggy scratches his head as Benjy continues to sweep the water.
Shaggy: You know, I don’t remember.
Scooby: Rey read rum-ring arout a rail.
Shaggy: Oh yeah! They were going to hike up and around Mount Chimney.
Ash: And they haven’t come back, huh.
Benjy gives the water another push, and then suddenly and without warning, the Millennium Gameboy Advance shines.

Yami Benjy: And why didn’t you mention this sooner?!
Shaggy: Um…
Yami Benjy: Everyone, get your things together quickly!
Ash: What do you mean?
May: Where are we going?
Yami Benjy turns to Ash, May, and Max with a serious look on his face.
Yami Benjy: To war.
Scooby: Rus rit rum-ring re read?

Rescue Team is standing outside the flooded hot springs, with Scooby sniffing the flooded ground. Benjy is barefoot.
Ash: Are you sure about this?
Benjy: Nurse Joy and Shaggy will take care of Brock… Or do you mean going to war with Team Aqua?
Scooby continues to sniff the ground.
Ash: Actually I meant him.
Scooby: Re?
Ash: Can you really smell him through all the water?
Scooby keeps sniffing the water.
May: Benjy, is it really a good idea to be without shoes? (whisper)
Benjy: If I were to wear them, they’d become moldy and unusable. (whisper)
May: Torchic could dry them… (whisper)
Benjy: That would burn them… (whisper)
Scooby takes one long sniff of the water.
Scooby: Rup! Rey rent ris rey!
Scooby points with his paw, across the hot springs.
Officer Jenny: Hold it you guys.
All members of Rescue Team look up as Officer Jenny walks into view.
Officer Jenny: The hot springs are currently out of order due to the flooding, I have to ask you to come back some other time.
Scooby: Works for me!
Max: Wait a minute, your friends are in danger!
Benjy now explains what Rescue Team is up to, which puts Officer Jenny in a tight spot, when Benjy requests that she investigate if they aren’t allowed to.
Officer Jenny: I don’t know what to tell you…
Officer Jenny looks up the mountain, then back at Rescue Team.
Officer Jenny: I’m not supposed to let people into the hot springs, but you’re right that this is imperative…
May: So we can’t even…
Officer Jenny: No I mean I literally don’t know. You’re not allowed to go into the hot springs, but someone needs to go, and I can’t go, and one has to cross the hot springs… If there only was a way of crossing the hot springs without going in them…
At this point, the water coming out of the hot springs per second seems to roughly double.
Max: You could carry us…
Refresh Scene()
Officer Jenny is carrying May and Max across the hot springs, holding them one under each arm such that their dangling feet don’t touch the water. Officer Jenny is somewhat unstable as she walks, due to the extra weight and the water covering the ground. Officer Jenny turns a corner and begins to walk towards the start of the trail, where QST.camera shows that Ash and Scooby are already waiting. As Officer Jenny approaches, Satolite lands Benjy on the trail a couple of feet ahead of the others
May: Max! This is uncomfortable! (whisper)
Max doesn’t respond for about two seconds (real time); where Officer Jenny shifts to keep him under her arm.
Max: I didn’t think she’d take it seriously! (whisper)
Officer Jenny now arrives at the edge of the trail, where the trail slopes up out of the flooded ground, and places May and Max on solid ground.
Officer Jenny: Now remember. When you kids come back, call me so I can carry you back, got it?
Rescue Team all nod nervously, and watch Officer Jenny head back across the hot springs.
Scooby: Rat ruz rockrard.
May: My underpants are all messed up.
Ash: Brock is going to be so jealous when we tell him…
Benjy: Lets not.
The rest of Rescue Team nod in agreement, and Scooby starts sniffing the ground again.
Max: Found their scent yet?
Scooby nods.
Scooby: Ris ray!
Scooby points up the mountain with this paw, and Ash and company turn as Scooby points, and starts up the mountain, sniffing the ground every few paces. The rest of Rescue Team pass Scooby as they hurry up the mountain.
Scooby: Rare you rowing?
Max: You’re taking two long! If you don’t hurry up we’re going to be at this all day!
Scooby: Rut the ream is raking it hard to rell!
Ash pauses to look back at Scooby.
Ash: Steam huh?
Scooby: Rup!
Benjy: We need to try larger intervals! C’mon!
Hesitantly, Scooby abandons his sniffing and follows the rest of Rescue Team, hurrying up the zig-zagging trails after them. QST.camera shifts ahead as the members of Rescue Team approach around thirty feet above the hot springs, at which point the hot springs disappears behind some rocks, and the trail begins to slope upwards and away from Lavaridge, back towards Fallarbor.
Scooby whines that he isn’t able to sniff the trail, but Benjy quickly points out that there’s only one direction that anyone could have gone. Scooby quickly sees the logic in this, and becomes content to trot alongside the rest of Rescue Team. Ahead of Rescue Team the trail zig-zags again through a field, and Rescue Team quickly follows it.
Max: You last saw them this morning?
Scooby: Rup! And ray have all the racks!
Yami Benjy chuckles.
Benjy: What’s so funny?
Yami Benjy: Oh, nothing. Never mind.

Rescue Team has stopped to rest after climbing a particularly steep section of trail. The trail itself is now more forested somewhat, with tall trees around them Scooby sniffs the ground again, and quickly confirms that they’re still on the trail.
Benjy: I’m not sur–
Pikachu: Pika!
Rescue Team all turn to Pikachu curiously, as his (Pikachu’s) ears perk up and Pikachu holds a finger to hi, mouth.
May: Is there some there? (whisper)
Scooby’s ears perk up.
Scooby: Rits rem!
Ash: You sure about that?
QST.camera now shifts up the slope of Mount Chimney to a more forested area where a female Team Aqua grunt is waiting behind a tree. She turns around and tells someone near her that someone is coming. QST.camera shifts back to where Rescue Team is catching their breath.
Scooby: I can rear them!
Scooby prepares to run, and the Millennium Gameboy Advance suddenly shines.
Yami Benjy: Scooby wait!
Yami Benjy makes a grab for Scooby, but Scooby is too fast as he bounds ahead excitedly.
Scooby: Red! Relma!
Yami Benjy races after Scooby as he bounds into the trees towards the hidden Team Aqua grunts. QST.camera turns around to show five Team Aqua grunts (all female) hidden behind trees, switching to a point of view in line with theirs as Scooby bounds towards them. QST.camera then synchronizes with Scooby’s field of vision as he continues along (the colors of QST.camera change, as Scooby cannot see the color red)
Scooby: I can smell them!
As Scooby jumps towards the trees, suddenly a Poochyena darts into his path and Scooby comes to a screeching halt with his nose about one centimeter from the Poochyena’s. The Poochyena immediately begins sniffing Scooby, and a half-second later (real time) QST.camera desynchronizes with Scooby’s field of vision, changing back to normal colors in doing so. Both Scooby and the Poochyena start to sniff each other, moving along each other’s body towards the scent glands on their buttocks, but suddenly the Poochyena stops and growls, causing Scooby to recoil.
Human Voice: Don’t let him get away!
Upon hearing the voice Scooby starts to back up, but four more Poochyena quickly surround him, forming somewhat of a diamond, and then all the Poochyena start to growl.
Ash’s Voice: Pikachu, thunderbolt!
Instantly an electric attack arcs towards Scooby and the Poochyena, causing all six to jump backwards. Scooby is caught by Yami Benjy, while the Poochyena all land on their feet and start to growl again.
Yami Benjy: This is what I was afraid of.
The Poochyena slowly start to approach Yami Benjy, all growling. Yami Benjy quickly puts his foot on a loose rock, then suddenly kicks it.
Yami Benjy: Fetch!
The Poochyena start to chase after the rock, allowing Yami Benjy to put Scooby down quickly. Yami Benjy proceeds to pull Bayleef’s ball out of his pocket.
Yami Benjy: We’ve got company.
Scooby: Rot anymore.
Yami Benjy: Still. There are people behind the trees–SHOW YOURSELVES!
Despite Yami Benjy’s yell, the people behind the trees don’t move, which appears to confuse Scooby.
Yami Benjy: I know you’re there.
Still no response comes from the grunts. After five seconds (real time) Yami Benjy speaks again:
Yami Benjy: Then let’s make things interesting–
Yami Benjy is cut off by five distinct whistles, each in succession, which cause Scooby to flinch, and Yami Benjy to single out five tree trunks.
Max: Benjy! Behind you!
Yami Benjy quickly turns around as QST.camera switches to his viewpoint. Yami Benjy turns to his right, then his left and sees the Poochyena rapidly approaching. In one sweeping motion, Yami Benjy calls on Bayleef:
Yami Benjy: Bayleef! Razor leaf! Volley!
Bayleef leaps from it’s ball and fires a flurry of leaves. The Poochyena try and dodge, but there are just too many leaves to avoid them all, and all take heavy damage from the attack. They crash to the ground as Bayleef growls back at them.
At this point, the five Team Aqua grunts all leap at Yami Benjy from behind their trees. Yami Benjy turns around quickly, but before he can react, Ash has Pikachu hit them with thunder, knocking them down. Seeing their trainers hurt, the Poochyena all charge, forcing Yami Benjy to turn his attention again.
May’s Voice: Silver wind!
As the Poochyena charge, silver wind picks them up from the backside and carries them past Yami Benjy and Scooby, to where they collide with their trainers, causing an explosion of dirt and dust from the impact. Both Yami Benjy and Scooby back up at this point to avoid the dirt that was kicked up by the blast.
Team Aqua Grunt’s Voice: We’re not taking that lying down!
Yami Benjy: Bayleef!
Bayleef turns around to watch the explosion.
Team Aqua Grunt1: You’ve got guts, but it’s five vs three! You’re outnumbered!
Bayleef and the Poochyena are now growling at each other.
Yami Benjy: So?
Team Aqua Grunt1: We’re going to destroy you!
The other grunts now tell their Poochyenas to use tackle in quick succession. Ash, May, and Max show up on QST.camera (behind Yami Benjy) as QST.camera zooms out.

All five Poochyena leap in the air, one at a time.

May now has Beautifly use silver wind, blowing the Poochyena backwards to where they crash into the ground.
Yami Benjy: Your turn, Bayleef. Flower pulse!
Not giving the Poochyena a moment to rest, Bayleef starts shaking, and then suddenly fires a flower pulse from his (Bayleef’s) mouth. One Poochyena has started to get up after being hit with silver wind, but this Poochyena is knocked out instantly by flower pulse, which crashes into the other four Poochyenas, knocking two of them out as well, and causing a small explosion.
Team Aqua Grunt2: You think that’s all we got, huh?
Team Aqua Grunt3: Well y’all are in for a nasty surprise!
At this, four of the Team Aqua grunts take out spiked metal bats, however grunt #4 doesn’t, and remains trembling.
Team Aqua Grunt5: Sarah what’s wrong?
Sarah (grunt #4) says nothing, but points, and QST.camera follows where she’s pointing: at Ash’s Pikachu who’s cheeks are sparking. QST.camera switches back to the grunts, as all drop their bats and scream, then turn tail and flee, each grabbing their own Poochyena on the way.

QST.camera watches from the bushes as all five Team Aqua grunts rush by, one at a time, each carrying their respective Poochyena.
}
Rescue Team now gives chase after the grunts, who are joined by a total of three more grunts (all male) as they run away from Rescue Team. The third of these grunts sends out a Zubat, but Pikachu knocks it out in one hit and the grunt has to recall it.

Rescue Team chases after the group of grunts across a meadow that looks like somewhere in the jagged pass.
May: Get back here!
Suddenly, something clicks in the ground and the part of the field that Rescue Team is on suddenly explodes in a smallish blast, striking everyone with rocks from the dirt and bits of dirt and plants while the grunts continue to run away. No one is badly hurt, but everyone is knocked to the ground.
Ash: What was that!
Yami Benjy: Land mines.
Yami Benjy: And it’s a miracle that those weren’t lined with shrapnel.
May now begins to get to her feet, her arms and legs dotted in small bruises.
May: Max, are you okay?
Max nods, and allows May to help him up, while Ash pulls himself into a sitting position. Shaking slightly, Yami Benjy does the same.
Max: So they planted land mines…
Max cringes with pain, and now has to sit down. Yami Benjy now gets into a kneeling position and examines Max’s leg to discover a small cut. Yami Benjy quickly puts his backpack down and pulls out a wipe and a tiny band-aid. Ash now stands up and he and May check themselves for injuries.
Scooby: Row ryme rangry!
Yami Benjy: There are probably more mines. Ash, see if Pikachu can set them off before we trip them and the same thing happens.
Ash nods.
Ash: You got that, Pikachu?
Pikachu: Pika-pi-pika!
Pikachu starts sparking, then shoots a line of electricity straight across the field, blowing up a line of land mines in the middle of the field and then one on the end. Each makes a bigger explosion than the last.
Max: Oh, wow…
Yami Benjy recalls Bayleef, and calls on Satolite, which appears perched on his arm, holding itself there with it’s front feet.
Yami Benjy: Satolite, I need you to search for anything metallic buried in the ground, and then blow them up from a safe distance.
Satolite: Sato?
Yami Benjy: Zapping them should do it.
Satolite now lifts off Yami Benjy’s arm, and appears to scan the field for a one second (real time) then fires off a large number of electric charges into the trees. A large number of explosions level much of the forest a split-second later. Satolite now zaps the field, and one last mine explodes. Satolite now beeps, declaring the field safe.
Yami Benjy now gets to his feet, and takes a step. The rest of Rescue Team begin to follow him closely as Satolite flies about five yards ahead, zapping anything suspicious. Only once, after the group is almost across the meadow, does this blow anything up, and Satolite protects itself with mirror force, sending debris flying through the trees. Rescue Team continues on a short ways after this, approaching the summit of Mount Chimney, before the following dialogue begins:
Max: My legs hurt.
Ash: Yeah, that mine blast was nasty.
Yami Benjy: Could have been a lot worse though.
Max: I don’t see how.
May: Well just imagine if Satolite hadn’t set those others off for us…
Pikachu, Satolite, and Scooby all seem to flinch.
May: Do you hear something?
Scooby: I rant tell.
QST.camera switches to Rescue Team’s approximate viewpoint as suddenly a large missile appears over the trees, shooting down the sloped path towards them. QST.camera goes into split-screen, which suddenly Rescue Team is teleported out of, a few yards into the forest nearby. QST.camera comes out of split-screen a half-second later (real time) and follows the missile as it (the missile) makes a u-turn and re-targets Ash and company from where they appeared in the brush. Jirachi is on Max’s head, and watches the missile carefully.
Yami Benjy: Satolite–
Satolite charges the missile, crashing into it and using mirror force. This causes the missile to explode, with the force of the explosion focused away from the group. A large chunk of the forest is destroyed, but Rescue Team is unharmed. Max congratulates Jirachi on the nice save.
Yami Benjy: Now here’s where things are about to get fun or scary, depending on your outlook of course.
Scooby raises his paw slightly.
Scooby: I rote for scary.
Max raises his hand slightly.
Max: Me too.
New Scene()
Standing on the rocky plateau above the forest’s tree-line, Team Aqua Admin Matt watches the explosion in the woods with a big smile on his face. This plateau looks like the summit of Mount Chimney from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire™, however Mount Chimney rises into the clouds still on the eastern side. A large lake of molten lave is behind Matt. Still smiling, Matt turns towards a group of nine grunts.
Matt: And that’s how you do it.
QST::setItemMode(QST.camera → First_Person::Synchronize(Yami Benjy))
Yami Benjy is walking carefully through the trees, focused on Matt laughing in the distance.
Yami Benjy: We’ll get him when his back is turned. (Whisper)
(From Offscreen) May: Isn’t that fighting dirty? (Whisper)
Yami Benjy: Not nearly as dirty as planting land mines. (Whisper)
QST::setItemMode(QST.camera → Normal)
QST.camera switches back to Matt again as he turns his back to where Rescue Team is hidden in the bushes to face the grunts again. He starts to say something, but suddenly two balls of energy zip in front of him and explode, knocking him and the grunts backwards.
Max.voiceover: You know, I don’t think Celebi and Jirachi are comfortable attacking humans.
Yami Benjy.voiceover: I agree. To plan B.
May.voiceover: What’s that?
Yami Benjy.voiceover: KO his pokémon, then wreck him.
Matt: Y’all are still alive, are ya?
While Matt seems unfazed, the other Team Aqua grunts back up nervously. Matt calls on a Mightyena:
Matt: Mightyena, hyper beam!
Mightyena charges hyper beam and fires it into the forest, where it explodes, seemingly repulsed by a barrier.
Matt: Interesting…
Before he can react, Mightyena and Matt are both struck by powerful electric attacks coming from above. Both seem to only take minor damage, as Matt looks up to see Ash and Pikachu, being carried by Satolite. (QST.camera shifts up to show them)
Matt: That’s cute. Mightyena, dark pulse him.
Mightyena looks up.
May’s voice: Silver wind!
Mightyena is hit with a bolt of silver wind and recoils
Yami Benjy’s voice: Flower pulse!
Mightyena takes this attack too, cringing as Benjy, May, Beautifly, and Bayleef emerge from the trees onto the plateau.
Matt: I see… Golbat, air cutter
Matt tosses a poké ball and a Golbat appears, and rushes at Benjy and May.
Ash: This is bad, both of those are weak to flying attacks!
Ash: Thunder on Golbat!
Pikachu strikes Golbat with thunder, which does only minor damage, despite the type advantage.
Matt: You’re not off the hook! Mightyena, dark pulse!
Without waiting for Ash to respond, Satolite beats it’s wings furiously deflecting part of dark pulse back at Mightyena, whom is preparing to attack again.
May’s voice: Silver wind on Mightyena!
Yami Benjy: Flower pulse!
QST.camera switches to Benjy and May as Beautifly doesn’t get a chance to attack before Golbat knocks it out, then bites Bayleef’s neck as it attacks, doing almost negligible damage to Golbat. A tiny bit of flower pulse gets through and strikes Mightyena, but this also does next to nothing. Yami Benjy quickly strikes Golbat with a punch, but this does more damage to Bayleef than Golbat, who strikes at Yami Benjy with it’s wing. May shrieks, and Yami Benjy immediately grabs Golbat around the neck, trying to force it to release Bayleef, and after applying pressure for a half-second, Golbat lets go, and Bayleef collapses to the ground, having taken massive damage.
Golbat now strikes at Yami Benjy, who uses something that looks like double-edge, knocking Golbat away from Bayleef. Yami Benjy then steps over Bayleef protectively, attempting to restrain Golbat whom is now slashing at Yami Benjy frantically. A couple of these attacks draw blood, but Yami Benjy tanks the damage and continues to restrain Golbat while May stumbles backwards squeamishly.
Suddenly one of Golbat’s attacks cuts Yami Benjy deep, causing the latter’s blood to drip on the ground. From behind Golbat, Matt starts to walk towards them
May: BENJY! Behind!
Yami Benjy doesn’t stop his attempt to restrain Golbat, which bites at him, missing by millimeters and taring Benjy’s shirt.
Matt: You know kid, I think you’ve just–uwah!
Refresh Scene()
In the blink of an eye, Ash realizes that Satolite isn’t holding him anymore. Ash comes crashing down (with Pikachu) on top of Mightyena’s back, dealing it massive damage, and causing it to yelp. Ash looks around to see that Satolite has grabbed Matt and lifted him off of the ground away from Benjy.
Ash: No way!
Mightyena now forces Ash and Pikachu off of it, and angrily snaps at Pikachu, who strikes it in the head with a powerful electric move without waiting for instruction, causing it to yelp, and try to snap again.
QST.camera now shifts back to Yami Benjy, whom is still trying to restrain Golbat; Golbat is flailing wildly. Suddenly, Golbat appears to escape from Yami Benjy’s grasp, before realizing that Yami Benjy is still holding it’s feet tightly. Panicked, Golbat opens it’s mouth wide in an attempt to completely swallow Yami Benjy’s head, however, for a split-second Golbat sparkles, and appears to be frozen in the air.
Suddenly and without any other warning, Golbat is launched by an unseen force out of Yami Benjy’s hands straight at Mightyena as it (Mightyena) tries to bite Ash. Golbat crashes into Mightyena upside the head, knocking out both Golbat and Mightyena instantly. Ash breathes a loud sigh of relief.
QST.camera now shifts to where Satolite is holding Matt by the backside. Matt starts to radio for backup, but Satolite zips him around in a circle (horizontal) causing Matt’s communicator to fly out of his hand and into the lava.
Matt: Why you little–
Before Matt can touch Satolite, it lets go of him, causing him to fly across the plateau (away from the Rescue Team) before he crashes to the ground and rolls about thirty yards, finally crashing into a crate of steel beams. Matt seems to have sustained moderate injuries, and slowly gets to his feet.
Matt: Zark it, you son of a (bleep)!
Satolite: Yrak! Kya!
Now visibly upset, Matt pulls a steel beam from the crate and holds it menacingly at Satolite, then tries to smash it (Satolite) like a piñata, however Satolite is much too fast to be hit and dodges each time, sometimes striking Matt with electric moves.

Celebi is healing Yami Benjy and Bayleef, to the best of it’s ability.
Max: Sorry… I… I…
May says nothing, but just stares at Yami Benjy and Bayleef. Bayleef is shivering while Yami Benjy is simply lying on the ground.
Max: I’m sorry, I should have–
Yami Benjy: Thanks.
Max: Um…
Yami Benjy: That was stupid.
Max: Um…
Yami Benjy: Should have gone with plan C.
Scooby: Rould I ro ret Rock?
Yami Benjy: Don’t bother. He’ll be feeling the effects of mind spark for about twenty-four hours, which is a full day where I come from. He could easily get killed up here.
Revert Scene()
As Matt attempts to strike Satolite, after a few strikes he accidentally lets go of the beam, causing it to fly past Satolite. QST.camera now turns around to show it heading straight for Yami Benjy, May, Max, and Scooby.
Ash: Look out!
QST.camera split-screens on Yami Benjy, May, Max, and Scooby as the pole shoots towards them like a spear.
Scooby: Ruh-roh…
QST.camera now exits the split-screen, with the Millennium Gameboy Advance crackling with energy on the ground. In the next second, May catches the pole thrown their way.
Max: May…
May stands holding the metal pole, unsure of what to do with it. In the distance Matt cackles with laughter.
Matt: Oh wow. You kids are tough. You can’t be any older than what? Twelve? Lets see how you take this!
Matt grabs another pole and charges at May, stumbling and regaining his balance when Satolite zaps him. May, visibly scared, tries to hold her pole defensively, but has severe difficulty holding the pole due to it’s weight, which the others quickly realize.
Ash: Pikachu, thunderbolt!
Pikachu zaps Matt, causing the latter to stumble but regain his balance. This is followed by Satolite zapping Matt to the same effect. QST.camera now shifts to Max as he addresses Celebi and Jirachi.
Max: I know it’s not what you usually do! But we need you to do something…
Max: If he has a type, it’s probably fighting, so…
Celebi and Jirachi both look at Max, then stare at Matt rushing them.
Max: Or he’s probably going to kill my sister! He’ll kill us all!
Matt takes about two steps forwards after this, then suddenly both Celebi and Jirachi glow. At once, both pokémon launch some kind of psychic attack at Matt, blowing up the ground around him (Matt) and sending him flying backwards while the pole flies forwards out of his hands forwards, sailing over the heads of Rescue Team, excluding Ash, and landing somewhere in the forest.
Refresh Scene()
The members of Rescue Team approach Matt, where he lies on the ground, injured but conscious. Benjy is using the pole that May caught to maintain his balance.
Matt: Ah-hahaha.
Matt continues to laugh as they surround him.
Max: What should we do with him?
May: You think he knows where Scooby’s friends are?
Ash: The question is how do we get that info out of him…
May: We could tickle him until he tells us.
With this, Matt breaks up laughing.
Matt: The little girl’s going to tickle me until I tell her where her friends are…
Matt starts laughing hysterically, all the while trying to sit up.
Benjy: Think I should knock some sense into him?
Ash and Max seem hesitant, while May seems to be getting ready to tickle Matt should he refuse them information. As Matt gets into a sitting position, still laughing, Benjy gently taps him with the pole, causing Matt to fall over backwards, hitting his head on the ground and knocking himself out cold.
May: Aww, Benjy, now what are we supposed to do?
Ash: I don’t think you’re plan would have worked. He seemed really tough.
Scooby: Rey ruys! I rot their rent!
Max turns towards Scooby, who is now sniffing the ground again.
Max: Huh?
Ash: He got their scent I think…
The rest of Rescue Team turns towards where Scooby is sniffing the ground.
Scooby: Rey rent ris ray!
The other members of Rescue Team quickly begin following Scooby as he sniffs along the plateau, towards where Satolite threw Matt and beyond the crate of steel beams. Scooby is moving faster than before, and he continues up a slope around the side of the mountain. As they walk, Benjy is still using the pole as a walking stick.
Ash: You okay, Benjy?
Benjy: I’ll live. It’s nothing too bad, really just this cut on my arm.
A tiny bit of blood drips from Benjy’s arm as he talks.
Max: Y’know that was a really stupid thing to do.
Benjy: I didn’t do it, it did.
Max first seems confused by this comment, but quickly realizes what Benjy is talking about.
Max: But you didn’t stop it…
Benjy: I froze, much like you did.
Max starts to say something but Benjy doesn’t let him.
Benjy: Please Max, I’m not able to deal with this right now. This has been one royally (bleep)ed up wreck of a day.
May looks at Benjy nervously.
Benjy: Lets hope we find them soon. I need some rest.
May: So they went this way?
Scooby: Ruppears ro.
Benjy: I really hope it’s not much farther.
???: Because we aren’t letting you guys go farther?
Rescue Team looks around for where the voice is coming from. Two Team Aqua grunts step out from behind trees as they continue along the path.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA(♂): What’s Matt been doing anyway? Letting children get past him. (Whisper)
Team Aqua Grunt0xB(♀): No idea.
QST.camera shifts back to Rescue Team.
Ash: Looks like another battle. (Whisper)
Ash and May discreetly take out Poké balls.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: You kids need to go home!
Ash: We will when we find our friends.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Well they couldn’t have gone this way. We’ve been here since this morning.
Scooby sniffs the ground.
Max: But their trail goes right through here.
Scooby nods, and both grunts look at each other confusedly.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Doesn’t make sense. (whisper)
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Well clearly you kids have got the wrong trail, so go home.
May looks at Scooby curiously.
Scooby: I know their rent.
May shakes her head.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Well we can’t let you through here.
Ash: We’re just trying to locate some missing people.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: I know, but we can’t let you through! Look at yourselves; you aren’t really in any condition to continue anyway.
Benjy: It’s fine, we’ll just be a few minutes.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: No-no, you cannot go past here.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: This isn’t good! (whisper)
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Golbat!
The Team Aqua Grunt pulls a dusk ball out of his pocket and pushes the button, causing a Golbat to pop out.
Ash: Pikachu!
Pikachu, riding on Ash’s shoulder, sparks.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: This matchup might not be such a good idea! (whisper)
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Right, right, type advantage. (whisper)
The Team Aqua Grunt pulls out another poké ball, then recalls Golbat and sends out a Poochyena.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Kids, this isn’t the kid world. This is the adult world. If–
May: We have a task, and we’re going to complete it. So get out of the way!
Ash and Max seem taken aback by May’s sudden use of a sharp tone.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Not happenin’. Poochyena, direct attack the injured guy!
Poochyena’s tail wags, then it charges at Benjy.
Ash: Pikachu, thunderbolt!
Max: Jirachi, psychic!
Poochyena dodges thunderbolt, but is hit square on with psychic, although the attack doesn’t do anything. Before Max can fully realize this, the Poochyena lunges at Benjy, who reacts by swinging his metal pole at Poochyena. Benjy misses Poochyena, but Benjy is also propelled out of the way by the swing of his pole. Poochyena jumps at Benjy again, who swings his pole at it again, and again both miss, as the female grunt giggles.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: I’m not having this! Golbat!
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Oh don’t be that way! Poochyena can use some exercise.
The male grunt ignores his female counterpart and calls on Golbat, and at the same time, Ash has Pikachu use thunder, doing heavy damage to Golbat.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Wing attack direct!
Golbat charges at Ash as Poochyena charges for Benjy’s legs.
May: Torchic, ember!
Torchic emerges from it’s ball on a battle_background, and fires embers at Poochyena, forcing it to leap backwards. Pikachu now lands another thunderbolt on Golbat, doing massive damage (each thunderbolt reduces Golbat’s health by somewhere between 40% and 45%)
Torchic’s embers now force Benjy to re-adjust his footing to avoid them, and this gives Poochyena an opportunity to pounce, which it takes, but Benjy kicks it unintentionally, dealing moderate damage.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Don’t just stand there! Help me!
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: What do you want me to do?
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: HELP ME!
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Okay… Go Zubat!
The female grunt sends out a Zubat, that doesn’t look like it’s very experienced in combat.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Zubat! Leech life!
Leech life doesn’t even get a chance to fire before Jirachi targets Zubat and knocks it out in one hit with psychic. Celebi simultaneously targets Golbat, and then knocks it out with a psychic-type move, sending it crashing into the nearby cliffside. Poochyena now tackles Torchic, doing moderate damage and prompting May to grab another pokéball. Torchic sees this and bites/pecks/slashes Poochyena, causing it to recoil, then attempt to bite Torchic, which falls back on it’s behind to avoid the hit. The male grunt now starts walking towards them
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Yeah, yeah, just because you beat some pokémon doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you want.
The male grunt turns to Benjy.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: You are injured. So I really wouldn’t recommend–
Benjy: You know how I got these scrapes? I beat up this guy you call Matt.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Careful!
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: Dumb punk.
The male grunt rushes Benjy who uses the grunt’s momentum against him, stabbing the male grunt in the stomach with his dull pole. The grunt takes heavy damage, then rips the pole out of Benjy’s hands.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: You’re going to get an Edwin Award!
Benjy snaps his fingers, while the grunt lifts the pole high into the air as if to strike Benjy.
Benjy: Fool!
Satolite: Krr-yaw!
Satolite immediately recognizes Benjy’s finger snap and shoots a bolt of electricity into the pole, which travels down the poll, through the grunt’s body, into the ground. The male grunt immediately collapses, dropping the pole. Not finished, he slowly starts to get to his feet, and then reaches down for the pole. His Poochyena, now worried about it’s trainer, comes rushing over to him, only to jump back when it’s trainer (the grunt) grabs the pole again.
Team Aqua Grunt0xA: You think you’re so clever.
Benjy snaps his fingers again, and Satolite and Pikachu both zap the grunt with a large blast of electricity. This time, the electricity causes something in the ground to explode and knocks the grunt over, knocking the pole out of this hands towards the cliff downwards. The grunt crashes to the ground unconscious as his Poochyena lets out a loud "yip." The Poochyena now makes a b-line for the thicket on the slope of the mountain, disappearing into the bushes. The female grunt has now taken out a communicator and presses the power button, and QST.camera then shifts from her to Max, who sees this.
Max: Jirachi, get that away from her!
Max points, and Jirachi teleports the communicator out of the female grunts hands and into Max’s.
Someone.Communicator: Hello? Hello?
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: Hey!
The female grunt now looks up to see her companion unconscious.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: How dare you children just–
The female grunt leaps towards Rescue Team, aiming for the pole, but as soon as she touches it she is knocked backwards by a bolt of electricity and goes flying into some bushes by the edge of the cliff.
Someone.Communicator: Hello?
Benjy: Alright, let’s go.
Team Aqua Grunt0xB: I’m not going to–
Max: Fetch!
The female grunt gasps as Max throws the Team Aqua communicator over the edge of the cliff into the forest, causing the female grunt to gasp and rush after it.
Benjy: I don’t want to be here when she gets back.
Ash: Agreed.
May: Agreed.
Max: Where’s Scooby?
Scooby: Rup hear!
The rest of Rescue Team turn their attention to Scooby who is already following the trail onwards. May quickly recalls Torchic and Beautifly, then hurries after the others; Satolite flies overhead, starting to look a bit tired.
New Scene()
Rescue Team is on the same path, moving along the cliffside trail towards a large warehouse on the rock. Team Rocket’s balloon floats overhead as Team Rocket stare down at them with binoculars from the basket of their balloon.
Jessie: You know, I don’t remember the twerps being this violent…
James: I don’t remember them having that big dog-creature with them…
QST.camera now shifts down to where Rescue Team is approaching the warehouse, with Scooby sniffing vigorously.
Scooby: Rare in here!
Max: In there…
Max now tries the door, only to find it locked.
Fred’s Voice: Is someone there?
Scooby: Rat roo, Red?
Velma’s Voice: Scooby! Get us out of here! I’ll give you…
Benjy: We’re working on it!
Ash: What do you suggest?
Fred’s Voice: Shaggy?
Benjy: I wonder if the two of them can rip it off.
Daphne’s Voice: Shaggy, is that you?
Benjy: Close!
Benjy gestures to Celebi and Jirachi.
Jirachi: Jirachi is sleepy.
Max: Jirachi, can you first get that door open?
Jirachi: Okay… But it’s stuck… (sleepy)
May: That’s why you and Celebi need to rip it out of the wall together. We need to get in there.
Jirachi: No need to rip. (sleepy)
With this, Jirachi teleports the door out of the wall, and onto the stone nearby, where it falls with a loud *smack* on the ground. Jirachi now falls asleep, despite the noise from the door’s falling over, now that nothing is supporting it.
New Scene()
Rescue Team now enters the warehouse from the previous episode. Across the warehouse is a large cage, holding Velma, Fred, and Daphne inside it. On the wall near the door are controls for an odd machine.
Scooby: Red! Raphne! Relma!
Velma: Scooby!
Ash: These are your friends?
Scooby: Rup?
Fred: Who are you?
Ash: We were tasked on getting you out of here. It wasn’t easy.
Fred: Well, we’re not out yet.
Benjy examines the lock on the cage.
Benjy: Just a minute, do you have a hair pin?
Velma: Don’t worry about us! You have to stop that machine!
Ash: Why, what does it do?
Velma: It’s a doomsday device!
Ash, May, Max, and Scooby all flinch.
Benjy: First give me a hairpin.
Fred shrugs, and then quickly snatches a hairpin from Daphne’s hair and gives it to Benjy, much to Daphne’s horror. Benjy quickly bends it and begins to pick the lock.
Velma: First stop that machine!
May: I don’t see any off button!
Benjy: One second.
It takes Benjy five seconds (real time) to slide the hair pin into the right place in the lock for it to pop open. Benjy now quickly removes the lock and tosses it aside, and Velma rushes out of the cage, nearly knocking him over. Followed quickly by Fred and Daphne.
Scooby: Rum, arout the snax…
Velma: No time Scooby! We have to shut this thing off
Benjy: What is it doing?
Velma doesn’t reply as she rushes to the machine on the warehouse walls, and scans the controls, pushing a lever slightly.
Fred: Team Aqua is planning to pump water all throughout Mount Chimney.
Max: Um, why?
Daphne: They claim it’s going to push all the lava out, and turn it into a habitat for water pokémon.
Ash: Pump out the lava.
Benjy: Are you serious?
Daphne: I just can’t help but worry about all the fire pokémon who make their homes in Mount Chimney. What will happen to them?
Benjy: That’s not possible.
Scooby: It’s not?
Benjy: No. That doesn’t even make sense.
Velma is now scanning the machine that takes up over 90% of the warehouse wall, the others present gather around her and the machine, leaving her enough room to move around.
Velma: Their reasoning is that the water is denser than the lava, so it will push the lava out. But if they do that, the lava is going to destroy the surrounding forests, and even Lavaridge.
Max: Except that’s never going to work!
Scooby: You raying rat re ron’t have to worry?
Benjy: No. In that case even worse.
Daphne: I don’t see how it could be any worse…
Benjy: Do you know how a steam engine works?
Daphne: Um, I don’t see how that’s relevant.
Benjy: Because it’s like this:
New Scene(Pseudo_Interactive_Diagram)
A 2D cut-away diagram is shown of Mount Chimney, full of magma.
Benjy.Narration: Here we have Mount Chimney, full of magma. Now imagine Team Aqua pumping it full of water.
Water is shown being slowly pumped into the diagram of Mount Chimney as Benjy speaks the following line:
Benjy.Narration: Team Aqua thinks that the water will displace the magma, but what will really happen is the water will just sit on top of the magma, and not displace anything.
Revert Scene()
Fred: I don’t get how that’s going to cause a problem.
May: Or even how it’s like a steam engine…
Benjy starts to gesture with his hands.
Benjy: Well, that water’s going to boil…
Revert Scene()
The water in the diagram of Mount Chimney starts to boil, and continues boiling as Benjy talks.
Benjy.Narration: When water turns to steam, it puts more pressure on it’s surroundings. In a steam engine, that pressure moves the pistons, making the train run, then is released through the smokestack as steam. Only here, there’s no where for that steam to go, so it’s going to build and build until…
The water in the diagram is now mostly steam.
Revert Scene()
Ash: It’s going to erupt!
Benjy: No, not really.
May: Then I don’t understand…
Benjy: It’s not going to erupt. It’s going to explode.
QST.camera goes into split-screen on everyone present (including the pokémon and Scooby), save for Benjy. QST.camera reverts to normal after about one second.
Fred: Is that even possible?
Benjy: Either that, or it’ll break the structural integrity of the mountain, and it’ll just collapse. It shouldn’t be possible, but it seems to be the logical conclusion.
Max: So speaking of Edwin Awards…
May: Team Aqua’s going to win a big one.
Fred: Velma, have you found the shutoff?
Velma: As far as I can tell, there isn’t one. I reduced the pressure.
Fred: What if we just break it then?
Benjy: Hmm…
Benjy scans the machine.
Benjy: I think it’s just a terminal… Yeah.
Benjy limps over to the side of the machine where a booklet is sitting on the counter. Benjy picks it up and begins to read for several seconds.
Benjy: You didn’t turn down the water pressure, Velma.
Velma: W-what?
Benjy: What you turned down was the rate at which the machine would be increasing the water pressure. There’s no way to decrease the water pressure.
Scooby: Rill! Re rid romething, right?
Benjy: Maybe; it’s pretty close to peak capacity…
Max: How long were you guys locked in there?
Fred looks at his watch.
Fred: About an hour and a half, why?
Max: Oh, no reason.
Max stares at the water pumping machine nervously.
Benjy: Max!
Max suddenly looks up.
Benjy: I need you to fly back to Lavaridge with Satolite and have everyone evacuate the city.
Ash: Why Max?
Benjy: I’ll explain later.
Daphne: Do we even have time for that?
Benjy: I don’t know.
Fred: Then why are you…?
Benjy: Because there might be time. I’m not going to waste time calculating our chance of survival. Just go!
Max looks to Satolite, which quickly flies over to him, and then they hurry towards the door.
May: What about us?
Benjy: We’re going to follow them on the ground, Satolite?
Satolite: Ecca!
Benjy: There’s no shut off, so there’s nothing we can do from here.
New Scene()
Rescue Team, Velma, Fred, and Daphne exit the warehouse onto the plateau. Small bushes and trees grow around the edges. Behind the warehouse, there exists what looks like a tiny passage
Benjy: Sorry, Max, but you need to get going!
Max: But what about you guys! May!
May and Max quickly embrace. Max suddenly starts to cry.
Benjy: May, Max. We’ll be okay. I have a backup plan, well two of them.
Max suddenly looks up, and Satolite uses this opportunity to pull Max into the air.
Benjy: But I don’t like either of them. The first is having Celebi use timetravel, the second is that Morning’s End spell. There’s a good chance that I can use an incomplete version of it, but who knows what those will do…
Fred: You sure we’ll be fine?
Benjy: I have two backup plans.
Daphne: Including one for them?
Daphne points down the trail that Rescue Team took to come up to the warehouse. Matt and several Team Aqua grunts are running towards them in the distance.
Benjy: Everyone, this way!
Benjy races around the front of the warehouse, beckoning the others to follow him.
Max: Benjy wait!
Benjy: Wait?!
Max: Team Magma’s that way!
QST.camera shifts to show Team Magma charging towards them.
Benjy: Oh, crud.
Scooby: Rut are re roing to do?
Benjy: One second. Max! Get going!
Max: First promise me you’ll all be okay!
Benjy: …um…
Benjy: Satolite, starboard!
In a split-second, Satolite sets up a mirror force, deflecting a shadow ball flung at it from some pokémon belonging to Team Aqua back at the members of Team Aqua. Benjy now signals Satolite and it zips off down the mountain towards Lavaridge, with QST.camera following it.
Max: He didn’t promise…
Refresh Scene()
Ash: Benjy, I think now would be a good time for one of those backup plans.
Benjy surveys the Team Aqua group and the Team Magma group carefully.
Scooby: Rum… Renjy?
Benjy: ?
Velma: There are people behind us too!
Benjy: Get back inside!
Fred: You can’t just–
Benjy: Trust me–
May: We ripped off the door, remember!
Celebi now lands on Benjy’s head nervously.
Team Aqua Grunt: You’re going to pay for what you did!
Velma: Our only hope is to play them off each other.
Ash: Unless you want to deploy one of your backup plans…
Benjy: I’m thinking… I’m thinking…!
Daphne: Well think faster! Because we’re really trapped now!
QST.camera shifts between Team Aqua running at them from the way they came, Team Magma running at them from the other direction, and a mysterious group of silhouetted people on the ledge about 500 feet above them (and a bit further back). Standing on the ground, Benjy scans all of them. Footsteps of the two Teams approaching, can now be heard.
Benjy: Just lovely…
Suddenly, a powerful blast of energy strikes the ground in front of them, about eight feet from the edge of the plateau (and between Team Aqua and Team Magma, kicking up a huge cloud of black smoke. Ash, May, Benjy, Scooby, Celebi, Pikachu, Daphne, Velma, and Fred all shield their eyes
Ash: Uh, we should probably be using one of those backup plans now!
