New Scene(@Temporal = Late_Morning)

Ash and company are waiting by the side of a stream, except for Benjy, who is fishing but not having any luck.

Ash: Togepi convention?

Brock: That’s what she said.

Narrator: Just a bit of clarification: I’ve received word that there are a quite a few people going around simply calling themselves "Doctor."  Try not to get them mixed up.

May: So when is this friend of yours arriving?

Brock: Should be any minute now.

Coal: Something about it sounds sketchy, but I can’t put my finger on what’s so sketchy about it…

QST.camera slowly shifts to Benjy, who is staring intently at the water, although he hasn’t gotten a bite yet.  Max sits down next to him.

Max: Do you know anything about this Misty person?

Benjy: Just what I’ve seen on TV.

Max: Ah…

Max’s glasses catch the sunlight.

[ [ Theme Song ] ]

Refresh Scene()

QST.camera is pointed at a building about 100 meters away, which looks like a railway station without any railway nearby.  This building is surrounded by palm trees and borders on the nearby river.  The doors to the station open, and Misty emerges, although due to how far away QST.camera is located, all that can be seen of Misty is her silhouette, at least for the first couple seconds.  (As Misty comes closer she gains color).

Misty: Ash!  Brock!

Ash, May, and Brock look around for Misty for about a half-second, and start to wave once they see the direction that she’s coming from.  Coal also turns towards Misty, smiling slightly.  Benjy meanwhile keeps fishing for a few more seconds, then starts to put the rod away, much to Max’s dismay.

Max: Nothing?

Benjy shakes his head.

Benjy: Never seems to work.

Misty: That’s because you aren’t doing it right.

Max (on Benjy’s left, facing the stream) moves to the left and Benjy leans to the right as Misty bends down to see what’s going on.

Benjy: How so? (nervous)

Misty: Don’t grip it so tightly like that.  The fish will notice that it’s unnatural, and get spooked.

Benjy: Huh…

Brock: Take her advice, she’s the water pokémon expert.

Yami Benjy: Expert?

The millennium gameboy advance starts emitting a soft light, a phenomenon which Misty makes a mental note of, but says nothing.

Yami Benjy: I see.  Is that all?

Misty: You also really should–

Brock: Misty, you said something about a Togepi convention?

Misty suddenly stands up to face Brock.  While the millennium gameboy advance starts emitting a soft light in the background.

Misty: Oh.  Yeah.  Right.

Holding Togepi with her right hand, Misty reaches around herself and pulls a letter out of her backpack and hands it to Brock.

Misty: Right.  Check this out.

Brock opens the letter and takes out the card, studying it carefully.

Brock: Hmm…  Ash, does anything strike you as odd about this?

Ash: No, not really.

Coal: Its giving me an uneasy feeling about it as well.  Who are these people and how did they know you have a Togepi?

Max: What’s a Togepi?

Misty shows Togepi to Max, and lets him hold Togepi while May takes out her pokédex to scan Togepi.

May’s Pokédex: Togepi, the Spike Ball pokémon.  Togepi uses the positive emotions of compassion and pleasure exuded by people and Pokémon as it’s source of energy.  The feelings of happiness gather inside its shell, where then Togepi can share them with others.  Research is ongoing on how Togepi handles negative emotions, but nothing is known at this time.

Max: Interesting…

Togepi: Togepri!

May: It’s so cute!

Togepi: Togepri!

Max now gives Togepi back to Misty.

Ash: I still don’t see anything weird about the invitation

Benjy: Aside from the fact that they misspelled "you’re" as y-o-u-r in "Your invited."

Misty: But that doesn’t make it suspicious, does it?

Benjy: Where I come from, anything misspelled is always suspicious.

Brock nods.

Ash: If you look at it closely, it says to meet in the north building.

QST.camera synchronizes with Ash’s vision as he looks up, and past the first building to a second building nearly identical to it but located just inland from the river.  Misty turns to see where Ash is pointing, and then QST.camera desynchronizes with Ash’s vision.

Brock: Lets go; there should be people there already.

Ash, Misty, and Brock hurry off towards this second building with May and Max close behind them.  Benjy and Coal exchange nervous glances then hurry after them.

Refresh Scene()

Misty approaches the building with Ash and company behind her, holding Togepi in her arms.  Yami Benjy silently remarks to Benjy that something seems off about this building.  Misty now begins to walk up the steps, and as she does, two people immediately come out to meet her, wearing robes with the designs of a Togepi’s shell on them.  One person's robe has red patterns and the other has blue patterns.

Misty: Are you guys–?

Person_red_patterns: Yes, zee convention is waiting.  Please hurry, we are late.

Misty: Late?

Person_blue_patterns: Which one of you is Misty?

Misty: Um, that’s me…

Person_blue_patterns: Very good, come this way.

Misty starts to walk with the people into the building, with Ash and company following, but the person in the blue-patterned robe turns around.

Person_blue_patterns: Sorry, but the invitation is only for Misty.

Coal: You’ve got some typos in your invitation.  Care to explain.

Person_red_patterns: We don’t speak de English very well.

Now that Misty is inside the building, the doors, start to close, but Coal grabs the handle.  The door continues to try to close but Coal holds it firmly, which results in the handle being ripped out of the door after a quarter-second.

Coal: What the.

Refresh Scene(Temporal -= 2 seconds(story time))

Inside the building, Misty turns around hearing the crunch of the door handle being ripped away.  The two people in Togepi-pattern robes don’t seem to notice this as they are almost out of the room, both giggling.

Misty: Ash?  Brock?

Coal: Get back.

Misty starts backing away from the door, as seconds later Coal kicks through the door, breaking it into pieces, and allowing Ash and company to rush into the room.

Misty: What’s going on?

Brock: Where’d those people go?

Misty points, and Brock starts to walk in the direction that the two people went.

Coal: Brock, we should probably just get out of here.

Brock: I want to know…

Brock is cut off as part of the floor folds up, preventing anyone from leaving.  Benjy runs to where the hatch came down to see what’s going on, and the room shakes.  May and Max approach the door but remain behind him as the room shakes again.

Ash: What’s going on?!

Benjy: We’re lifting off…

New Scene()

QST.camera is focused on the building that Ash and company are inside of, as it shakes, and then collapses, revealing a large blue and white blimp which slowly rises into the sky.

Hearing this noise, the clerk comes out of the real station to see the cause and quickly sees the collapsed replica of the station.  She then goes back inside the real station muttering something about "art students."

Revert Scene()

With the outside of the building fallen away, the inside of the blimp begins to look more blimp-like.

Misty: Hold on…

Misty pushes past Benjy, May, and Max as she sees that the ground is getting farther away beneath them, and suddenly looks nauseous.  She hands Togepi to May before collapsing to her knees.

Max: You okay?

Misty:

Ash: Misty gets airsick easily…

Benjy: The question is, how do we get off this thing…

May: We can just walk back once this thing lands at the convention, right?

Max: May, they’ve got bad news for you.

Max gestures at Coal and Brock, and May turns to face them.

Coal: I don’t know where we’re going, but it’s not a Togepi convention.  First of all, I’ve never heard of such a thing, second of all, where is everybody else.  This is a classic kidnapping.

QST.camera goes into split-screen to show the expressions of shock worn by Ash, May, and Max.

Intercom: We may be experiencing some turbulence.  Please hold on.

New Scene()

In the cockpit, the two cloaked figures are revealed to be Jessie and James of Team Rocket.  With grins on their faces, they play with the blimps controls to simulate turbulence.

#FAR_SIDE_REFERENCE

Revert Scene()

Ash and company all grab on to supports (save for Misty whom is too busy throwing up offscreen) as the blimp rocks and rolls back and forth for a couple seconds (real time).

Intercom: That was just a test.

This comment generates looks of resentment on the faces of Ash and company.

Misty: Unnnngh…

Togepi approaches its trainer, careful not to step in her vomit (which is just offscreen).

Togepi: Togepri!

James now enters the back of the blimp, in costume.

James (costume): I just wanted to check in and–

James cuts himself off as he stares at Ash and company.

James (costume): I’m sorry, this convention is invite only.  I’ll have to ask you to please disembark.

Max: And how are we supposed to do that?  We’re all the way in the air!

Jessie now enters the room, also in costume

Jessie (costume): That’s not our problem.  Jim, show them to the hatch.

James (costume): This way please.  We do not tolerate stowaways on this blimp.

Coal: And I don’t tolerate people who don’t answer my questions.

Jessie (costume): We don’t have time to answer questions, we’re already late!

Coal: Not buying that.

James (costume): Alternatively, you could pay for your ride.

Brock: How much do you want?

James (costume): One Pikachu will suffice.  (The way he says it, it sounds like "peek at you")

As James says this, he looks at Ash’s Pikachu who is on Ash’s shoulder, and May as well (who is standing next to Ash and a little bit forwards).  May suddenly turns bright red.  QST.camera synchronizes with May’s vision as she looks down at herself and starts to sweat.

James (costume): No, no, Pikachu, the pokémon.  Electric type number twenty-five.  That one will do nicely.

Jessie and James (still in disguises) turn to each other.

Jessie (costume): That’s brilliant! (whisper to James)

James (costume): Thanks, I do have my moments. (whisper to Jessie)

QST.camera desynchronizes from May’s vision, moving to Ash as he shakes his head.

Brock: I’m sorry, but we really can’t part with that one.

Jessie (costume): If you do not comply, then you’ll will be under arrest for trespassing in–

Jessie is cut off as Coal suddenly lunges forwards, snatching the cloak off of her, and then the cloak off of James with his other hand, tossing them aside.

James: This changes nothing.  You’re still trespassing, so you still–

Brock: I really want to see you guys call the cops.

James: Then I’ll do it…

James pulls out his phone and starts to dial.

Max: You’re members of the notorious Team Rocket.  You realize you’ll be arrested as well, right?

James suddenly stops dialing, as blue lines appear over his and Jessie’s foreheads.  As this happens, Meowth walks in, also in a Togepi disguise walks in to the room.

Meowth: Hey, what the hold–Where are your costumes?!

James: He stole them!

James points at Coal, angrily.

Meowth: Then give them back!

Meowth leaps at Coal with his claws outstretched, but Coal swats him away with the Togepi robes, letting them go of them in the process causing Meowth to tumble backwards, wrapped in them.  He struggles frantically, but is unable to break free.

James: It looks like we don’t have a choice!

Jessie: We’ll subdue them with brute force!

James: Cacnea let’s go!

Cacnea pops out of it’s poké ball and hugs James as May calls on Torchic.  James tells Cacnea to use pin missile, and it points one of it’s arms at May and Torchic and fires pin missiles at them.

May: Torchic, ember!

Torchic shoots embers back at Cacnea.  Some of the embers collide with pin missiles and explode, but others miss, falling to the floor of the blimp and smoldering, while some of Cacnea’s pin missiles shoot past May and explode, tearing holes in the blimp, about a foot in diameter each.

Jessie: Seviper, poison tail!

Seviper emerges from it’s ball in a flash of red light and hurls a poison tail at Ash and Pikachu.

Ash: Pikachu, thunderbolt!

Pikachu starts to spark.

Brock: Ash stop!

Pikachu stops sparking forcing Ash to dodge the blow from Seviper.

Coal: It’s alright, most modern blimps can easily survive a pokémon battle.

Brock: It’s not a modern blimp!

Brock urgently points to the holes torn in the side of the blimp by Cacnea’s pin missile.  Meowth has now gotten his head out of the tangle of robes, but not any other part of his body.

Meowth: That’s right!  This is an F-1 class Massive Ornery Air Blimp, or M-O-A-B for short.

Coal: An F-1…  That sounds familiar.

Meowth: It’s a kind of MOAB that was mass produced four hundred years ago in the god-wars.  They were all recalled though, because they were defective.

Coal: Are you zarking insane?!

James: It was a strategic move.  This way you can’t use electric attacks.

Benjy: Technically we can…

Jessie: So just surrender already.

Ash: Not a chance!

Jessie: Seviper, bite him!

Ash: Corphish crabhammer!

Corphish shoots out of it’s ball and lands a powerful crabhammer on Seviper’s head causing it to fly head-over-tail backwards.  Seviper slams into a support beam  bending it slightly and causing the MOAB to shift, nearly knocking everyone off balance.  At this point Cacnea and Torchic exchange another round of projectiles.  Some of Cacnea’s pin missiles tear more holes in the MOAB, while one punctures some kind of capsule of compressed gas, causing the MOAB to tilt in the other direction.  Behind James, Brock rushes to quickly stamp out some of the flames smoldering on the floor of the MOAB there.

Jessie: Seviper, wrap attack!

Seviper shoots off of the MOAB’s framework at Ash and Corphish, weakening the MOAB’s structural integrity even more.  Ash has Corphish use bubblebeam, which deals heavy damage to Seviper, but doesn’t stop it from wrapping both Ash and Corphish.  Due to the MOAB’s instability, it shifts, causing all three to roll across the MOAB’s floor into something that breaks and starts sparking.  Seviper yelps, and instantly releases Ash and Corphish.

Jessie: Dustox!  Your turn!

Ash: Corphish, bubblebeam!

Bubblebeam strikes both Seviper and Dustox, doing moderate damage.  Jessie now has Dustox tackle and Ash has Corphish counter with a crabhammer, which nearly knocks Dustox, out, sending it flying into, and breaking, a horizontal support beam.

Jessie: Seviper, poison sting!

Coal: Pelipper, hydro pump!

Pelipper knocks Seviper’s head aside, causing poison sting to miss Ash and Corphish, and instead riddle the wall of the MOAB with holes.  Hydro pump also breaks some structural supports, and causes something to start shooting sparks.  QST.camera now switches back to May and James:

James: Just give up already!

May: You first!

Both injured, Torchic and Cacnea launch another round of attacks.  Some of these actually light the floor behind James on fire, so when Brock goes to stomp them out, his foot goes right through the floor of the MOAB, which starts to crack under the weight of him and Misty.

Recognizing the inevitable, the Millennium Gameboy Advance activates with a flash, and Yami Benjy tackles both Misty and Brock off of the breaking floor, seconds before it collapses, sending pieces of flaming wood falling towards the ground.

Meowth: You’re wide open!

Seeing an opportunity not that he’s freed himself of the disguises, Meowth leaps, claws outstretched, at Benjy, Brock and Misty.

Yami Benjy: Pixielite!

Pixielite zips from its capsule, using a mirror force attack to send Meowth flying backwards into a structural support, which bends slightly from being hit with Meowth.  Yami Benjy jumps to his feet and Meowth get to his feet, leaving them to stare at each other.  Something snaps behind Meowth, which causes some pressurized air to come shooting out of something there.  (This isn’t seen, all that’s heard is the hissing)

Meowth grins smugly.

Meowth: Stop this, you’re not going to be able to win this time.

James and May both turn around to watch this confrontation.

Yami Benjy: Pixielite…

Pixielite starts sparking.

Brock: Benjy.  If you…

Meowth: You’re going to what?  One spark and…

Meowth makes a popping sound with his mouth.

Yami Benjy: You want to try me?

QST.camera suddenly split-screens ten different ways, showing the expressions of Ash, May, Max, Brock, Pikachu, Jessie, James, Meowth, Torchic, and Dustox.  Coal appears in this wheel a half-second later, looking calm.  The split-screen ends a half-second after this and goes back to the face-off between Yami Benjy and Meowth, with Pixielite continuing to spark.

Brock: Benjy!

Brock suddenly grabs Yami Benjy’s arm.  Yami Benjy tries to pull away, but can’t due to the movement of the MOAB.  Meowth chuckles:

Meowth: Heh.

Meowth: Listen to your friend, twerp.

Yami Benjy turns to Brock.

Yami Benjy: If you don’t let me go–

Brock and Yami Benjy share a quick glance before Brock lets Benjy go and quickly scoots backwards.

Brock: You’re completely insane…

Benjy: Let me make something clear: you can’t have a hostage situation without a threat.

This comment comes off on deaf ears.  Pixielite stops sparking.

Meowth: Dumbest bluff ever.

Yami Benjy: It’s not a bluff.  Lets say that hypothetically this blows up and we’re all go shooting into the sky: We’re not going to die.

May: What is he talking about?

Max: If we fall from this hight there’s no way–

James: You’re bluffing.

Yami Benjy: Do you want to try me?

Meowth: On what grounds?

Yami Benjy: You people must fall from at least this height on a near-daily basis.  You really expect me to believe that such falls are fatal?

Coal now stands up.

Coal: I’m really fine either way.  As they say, I like to live dangerously.

Brock: Benjy and Coal seem awfully sure…

Meowth: Ha!  That’s because you kids don’t have the power of the Rocket-Rocket fruit!  So hand over Pikachu and make it snappy!

Misty: That has to be literally the dumbest thing that I have ever heard.

James: You don’t believe in the Rocket-Rocket fruit?

Yami Benjy: Nope.

James: How else do you think we survive those falls?

May: This is dumb even for a parody…

Jessie: This is so obviously a bluff.

Meowth: Hehe, we already told you how we did it.

Meowth extends a claw menacingly.

Yami Benjy: Your credibility is on par with a used car salesman.  Pixielite–

Pixielite starts sparking again, with slightly more power than before.

James: Hold on, Meowth, what if he isn’t bluffing?!

Meowth: There’s no way he’s got the guts to do it…

Meowth takes a giant step towards Yami Benjy and Pixielite.

Meowth: See?

Yami Benjy: Back down, cat!

Meowth: I’m a Meowth, not a cat!  See!

Meowth starts to slash at Yami Benjy, but Pixielite blocks it with a mirror force, causing Meowth to slash himself instead.  He stares at Benjy, fuming.

Yami Benjy: Now back up.

Meowth: I don’t back up for anyone!

With this, Meowth launches himself at Yami Benjy, fangs barred.

Yami Benjy: Discharge!

Pixielite strikes Meowth with a large electric charge, catching it in mid-air about 18 inches from Yami Benjy.

Meowth: Aaaaaaa!

Meowth is then suddenly launched by the electricity across the MOAB, at which time, the Millennium Gameboy Advance de-activates.

Benjy: We warned you, cat.

Meowth: You’re going to pay–

QST.camera split-screens, showing the expressions of Ash, May, Max, Brock, Coal, Misty, Jessie, and James for about a half-second (real time).

New Scene()

QST.camera is looking at the MOAB from about fifty feet away.  The MOAB starts to tip, and suddenly a fire appears near the rear.  About one eighth of a second later, the MOAB explodes in a ball of red-orange fire.  QST.camera zooms in on Jessie, James, and Meowth who are starting to fall.

Meowth: Mutually.

Jessie: Assured.

James: Destruction.

Narrator: And there are three more famous last words to add to the list.

QST.Lyrical::startCustomMusic(using template$C01) {

In a MOAB, I was riding, as some Trigamon trainer guy;

The blimp was flimsy, and it blew up, way up high in the sky;

Benjy is surrounded by Ash and company, all falling.  Benjy appears to be in a state of shock as he blows out the flames on his clothes.  Pixielite lands on Benjy’s backside.

Now I am falling through the air, bits of debris flow through my hair;

All I can do right now is stare, up at the ozone;

Bits of debris flow upwards through Benjy’s hair as he turns around to look at the destroyed MOAB above him.

Pixielite: Ixie!

As if in response to Pixielite’s comment, Benjy’s backpack vibrates, and he immediately pulls out his phone.

Suddenly, my cell phone starts ringing and I pick it up;

It’s someone I don’t know asking me what’s up?

I say– (Benjy) Excuse me, who is this?

And they’re like– (Person_On_Phone) Well, Hello and goodbye, please don’t hurt yourself.

Benjy: I think you’ve got the wrong person.

May and Brock, also falling, turn to look at Benjy on the phone.

Person_On_Phone: Life can be like that sometimes, it’s such a–

Benjy: What?

Person_On_Phone: Now listen, I’d love to stay and chat but gravity’s calling, and you have some flying to do.

I don’t know what I just heard and it’s something new.

Person_On_Phone: And remember that’s it’s based on your point of view…

Benjy pulls his phone away from his head and stares into it.

Benjy: Who are you?!

This is boring, though I’m falling, it’s taking quite a while;

My destination is impending, and might as well go out in style;

I put my arms next to my sides, and try to turn myself upright;

Which is harder than it seems, due to the motion;

Benjy squirms trying to position himself so his feet are facing downwards, all the while looking around.  Pixielite clings to Benjy’s back tightly as the ground suddenly becomes visible through the clouds.  Nearby Benjy, Coal has a twinkle in his eye.

Suddenly…

Coal: Hey, check out that cloud, it’s totally flat!

Coal points to a cloud above everyone.

Max: Coal, I really don’t think we have time for that!

Coal: It’ll take your mind off falling.

Misty: We need something to take our bodies off falling!

Coal: It already did.

Ash and company (+Misty) look around and discover that the ground isn’t getting closer.

Ash: Huh?

That little distraction seems to have saved my life;

But someone’s too freaked out to be nice;

Brock: To tell you the truth I’d rather fall, no offense but at least it’s predictable.

Got to stop falling, I've got some flying to do;

Somehow we missed the ground, so away we flew;

So maybe depends on your point of view.

The sound of the wind whistling past Benjy ends the song.

}

Ash: Hey, what’s going on?!

Misty: Why isn’t the ground not getting any closer?!

Max: We’re in orbit?!

Benjy: That’s impossible!

Yami Benjy: Benjy!  Don’t disbelieve what your senses are telling you!  It’s the only logical explanation.

Benjy: I don’t think the explanation is logical.

Yami Benjy: Um…  What?

Benjy: Listen to what Coal’s telling us.

Benjy and Yami Benjy both turn their attention to Coal who appears to be comfortable floating in the sky.  He is in a reclining position with his hands behind his head.

Ash: Coal!  What’s going on?!

Coal: We’re flying.

Coal speaks the above line nonchalantly, but QST.camera goes into a 1-second split-screen to show how shocked everyone else is.

Misty: That’s impossible!

Coal: It’s perfectly possible…  If you know how.

QST.camera shifts to Max.

Max: This doesn’t make any sense.

QST.camera shifts to May.

May: This is amazing!

QST.camera shifts back to Max, as he watches May start to move about in the air by flapping her arms.

Max: She’s having way to much fun…

May: Hey Max!  Look at me!  I’m flying!

Ash flaps his arms in the air, and is surprised that he is able to move.

Ash: I don’t understand it, but I’ll just go with it.

May: Ash I’m flying!

Ash ducks out of the way as May shoots towards him doing a spin in mid-air.  Coal smiles, watching her.

Coal: You’re getting the hang of it.

May: I’ll show Beautifly!

May sends out Beautifly, and starts to show it her flying technique.  This startles Beautifly.

Pikachu: Pika-Pi!

Pikachu calls out from above everyone, causing Ash and company plus Misty to turn their attention to it.  Team Rocket is also flying, and is flying towards it in all direction.

Ash: Use thunderbolt!

Pikachu: Pika?

Ash: We’re not in that blimp anymore, Pikachu, so there’s nothing–

Team Rocket reacts to Ash’s comment before Pikachu can, flying away from Pikachu as fast as their arms can take them.  Ash flies up to Pikachu, and it lands on his shoulder.

Coal: Quickly everyone!  After them!

Ash: Why?

Coal: Somethings rotten.

Max: We’re dealing with Team Rocket, somethings always rotten with them.

Coal: No, I mean it’s different this time.  They’re up to something big.

Misty: Like what?

Coal: I don’t know.  But unless we stop them now, what they’re doing could become a bigger problem later.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  Everyone!  After them!

Benjy shrugs, and turns to Pixielite, who helps Benjy to move through the sky as Ash and company all quickly follow Coal as he flies after Team Rocket.  Using Pixielite’s boosters, Benjy is able to catch up to Coal, as well as everyone else.  Ash and company (+Misty) regroups about 100 yards behind Team Rocket.

Brock: So Coal.  How are we doing this?

Coal turns to look at Brock.

Misty(offscreen): You have to think happy thoughts, right?

#PETER_PAN_REFERENCE

Coal: Some say that helps, but that’s not it.  The first step to flying is to throw oneself at the ground, which happened on it’s own when the MOAB exploded.  But there’s a catch: you have to miss.

Max: Miss?  As in miss the ground?

QST.camera zooms out a bit to show Misty and Max

Coal: Exactly.

Max: But that’s impossible due to Graaaaaaavity…

Max suddenly starts to fall, but May dives after him, catching him about fifty feet below where everyone else was flying.  Everyone watches as Max climbs onto his sister’s backside, and May flies back to rejoin the group as they continue to chase after Team Rocket, now at a distance of about 400 yards.

Yami Benjy: You’re right, the explanation is *totally* illogical.

In the distance, a strange floating island starts to become visible through the clouds.

New Scene()

Ash and company (+Misty) are now flying closer to this floating island.  In the distance, Team Rocket land on the island and take off running.  (Note: this is NOT the island from Cave Story).  Ash and company fly just over the edge of the island, before landing about ten feet from the edge.  Max climbs down off of May’s back.

Misty: Where are we?

Coal: I think we’re where we need to be.

May: And that is?

Coal: Not entirely sure, but Team Rocket is around here somewhere.

Coal scans the floating desert-ish island.

Benjy: We should probably step away from the edge.

Coal: Not a bad idea.

Misty: So I’m confused about something.  Since I left, have you guys been following Team Rocket every time they show up trying to stop them from causing trouble.

Brock shakes his head.

Coal: No, but this time is different.

Misty: And what do you mean by that?

Coal: Usually they try to steal pokémon from their trainers, not pokémon *and* their trainers.  I’ve dealt with various factions of Team Rocket before on several occasions, usually they just want pokémon.  When they abduct people, it’s–how should I say it…

Coal looks at the ground, then sniffs the air.

Coal: They’re up to something big.  The longer it goes on, the harder it will be to shut them down.

Coal: And with Ala Rubia disbanded…

Max: Then why not just call the police

Coal: As if the police could get here…

Coal sighs, and starts walking.

Coal: If things start to get ugly, stay calm and cause as much damage as you can.

New Scene()

Jessie, James, and Meowth are in a royal-looking room with an angry-looking man wearing royal-looking robes.  The man clenches his fist and turns around, facing a large mirror.  As he shimmers with rage, Jessie, James, and Meowth squirm.

James: Um…  Doctor Hansen…

Hansen trembles with rage, speaking the following line with difficulty.

Doctor Hansen: It’s not your fault.  They was no way to know that they would do that…

Jessie: So we just need to try harder, right?

Doctor Hansen: I’m going to go see if those kids followed you here.  Requip into those new robes and meet me in front of the hangar at the approach.

Jessie, James, and Meowth: Aye sir!

Diagram

Ash and company (+Misty) walk though what looks like a dusty airport.  Coal leads the group, looking calm-ish as they head towards a large flat area (60 feet by 60 feet?), surrounded on three sides by steps leading upwards.

NOTE: The blue symbol in the diagram above denotes where Ash and company land, and the arrow denotes the path they take.

NOTE: The diagram above is just a rough drawing to provide a feel for the area.  Red is the blimp hangar, gray is other buildings, and green is trees.  The diagram is only partially to scale, the airport area is larger than just the blimp hangar (several hangars and an office or two), and there are trees not shown on the diagram.  The gray buildings are not all to scale and their locations are only approximate.

Ash: Coal, what do you think Team Rocket is doing?

Coal just shrugs, then after a few more steps, Coal stops and puts his hand out to signal everyone else to do the same.  Ash and company all stop behind Coal at the edge of the flat area.  Max tries to ask Coal what’s going on, but Coal doesn’t reply.

May: Coal–

Coal puts out his arm, to stop May from talking, then motions for everyone to move behind a building by the edge of the flat area.  No one does this, but Ash, May, Max, Benjy, and Misty do move backwards a few steps.  As they watch, Doctor Hansen emerges at the top of the steps, and starts to walk down them towards Ash and company.

Brock: Hey, we were wondering if–

Doctor Hansen’s eyes scan everyone for a split-second.

Hansen: Your Togepi.  Give it to me.’

#Terminator_Reference

Brock: Um…

Coal steps in front of Brock and motions for him to get back.

Hansen: I’m waiting.

Misty: Who do you think you are?!

Hansen says nothing, as he gazes intently at Ash and company (+Misty); he then beckons Misty forwards.

Misty: Who do you think you are just ordering me to–

Hansen: Ninjask!  Shedinja!

Cutting Misty off, Hansen sends out a Shedinja and a pair of Ninjask.  (He doesn’t send them out of poké balls, they just fly overhead as he calls them)

Coal: He doesn't beat around the bush…

Hansen: Ninjask, shadow ball!  Shedinja, solarbeam!

Ash and company (+Misty) excluding Coal gasp as Hansen’s pokémon charge their attacks.

Coal: I think I like this new approach.

Coal: Pichu!

A Pichu pops out of Coal’s outfit as Coal points at Hansen’s three Pokémon.

Hansen: Fire!

Ash: Pikachu, thun–

Coal: Raigeki!

Shedinja and both Ninjask launch their attacks straight for Ash and company (+Misty); Coal’s Pichu immediately intercepts this with an electric blast that fans out to block all three attacks.  Ash and company (+Misty) excluding Coal all shield their eyes as the light from Pichu’s attack is extremely bright, obscuring Hansen.

Hansen: Second round!

Coal: Let him have it.

At this point, Shedinja shoots a second solarbeam through the electric barrier, but Coal’s Pichu quickly sends a high-voltage stream at it, which stops it, and then breaks through it, pushing the solarbeam back towards the barrier.  As the solarbeam is forced back, suddenly the entire mess explodes in a gigantic blast.  No one has any time to react before everyone is thrown high into the air.

Refresh Scene(@Temporal += ~2 seconds)

Hansen, injured, begins to dig himself out of the hill that the force of the blast nearly buried him inside, looking around.

Hansen: And of course they’re gone now.

Hansen’s Ninjask and Shedinja now dig themselves out of the ground, the pair of Ninjask looking heavily damaged.

New Scene()

Benjy lies in the wreckage of the top of a well, which he crash-landed into, as a gold light around him fades.

Benjy: Ouch…

Realizing that the barrier around him is fading, Benjy quickly pulls himself to his feet, looking at the wreckage of the well’s overhang.

Benjy: What now…

Yami Benjy: Sorry–I lost track of where the others were sent.

Benjy: That’s fine.

Benjy presses the button on Bayleef’s ball, and Bayleef emerges as Benjy sighs loudly.

Benjy: Bayleef, can you track down where everyone else went?

Bayleef starts sniffing the ground.

Bayleef: Bay!

Yami Benjy: Why Bayleef and not Pixielite?

Benjy: I’m hoping he’ll smell the food in Brock’s backpack.

Bayleef goes back to sniffing the ground, before lying down and rolling around in the dirt.

New Scene()

May, Max, and Misty have landed on their backsides in a large maze with walls as hedges.

Max: Oww.

Togepi leaps out of Misty’s arms and starts looking around, prompting Misty to now sit up to watch Togepi.  May now gets up as well and starts looking around.

May: Where are we?

Misty: It looks like some kind of maze…

Togepi: Togrepi!

Max now gets to his feet.

Misty: It looks pretty large though.

Refresh Scene()

May, Max, and Misty are walking through the maze, with May slowly looking more and more nervous the further they travel.  She scans her surroundings nervously, moving more slowly than Max and Misty, and thus winds up about eight feet behind them.  As soon as May notices this, she calls out:

May: Wait!

Max and Misty turn around to face May.

Max: May you need to hurry up!

May: I’m going as fast as I can!

Misty: May, If you want you can stay here and we’ll come back to get you when we find the exit?

This comment appears to make May even more uneasy, and May shakes her head vigorously.

Max: May, it will be faster this way.

May stares at Misty and Max for a second (real time).

May: Fine.

Misty: Alright, I’ll come back to get you when…

May: In that case I’ll just burn the whole place down. (mutter)

Misty: Wait, what did you say?

Max: Never mind her.

Misty and Max start moving again, but only are able to take a few steps before:

May: Torchic!  Come out and use ember!

Misty and Max both spin around to see May have Torchic use ember on some of the bushes.  As Misty and Max watch in surprise, at first Torchic’s flames don’t seem to ignite the bush, but as Torchic increases it’s fire power, the bush starts to smolder, then to burn, slowly at first, then faster and faster until it is engulfed in fire.

Max: May that’s brilliant!

May doesn’t appear to hear Max as she stares at the gigantic fire in front of her, looking quite pleased with the results.

Torchic: Tor?

Misty: You idiots!

QST.camera zooms out very slowly as the fire starts to spread to the nearby bushes.

Misty(screaming): You’re going to burn the entire place down!

Max: Misty, that’s sort of the point…

Misty(screaming): Need I remind you what we are right in the middle of!  If the maze burns, then so do we! (frantic)

QST.camera has now zoomed out to about twenty feet away from May, Max, and Misty.  QST.camera shifts up slightly to where Hansen’s Shedinja has just heard Misty’s screams, and approaches curiously.

Refresh Scene()

Back on the ground, Misty’s has sent out a pair of Starmie to put out the fire.  Both are watching their trainer butt heads with May.

Misty: What were you thinking–?!

May: What were you thinking trying to leave me behind like–?!

Misty: I told you my train of thought!  What else do you–?!

May pulls herself away from Misty.

May: It was a rhetorical question, Mss Smartypants.

Misty: Mss?!  What kind of girl do you think I am?!

May: You’re married to Ash, aren’t you?

Misty leaps towards May, and May spins around, causing them to butt heads again.

Misty: Again, let me ask you: what kind of girl do you think I am?!?!

Max: Uh, guys…

/# Note: Max calling Misty and May "guys" is intentional, not an oversight #/

Misty: But out!

Suddenly, offscreen, something explodes, diverting both Misty and May’s attention from their argument.  As the smoke clears, Max is revealed to have shielded Togepi from some kind of attack.  Misty looks around wildly.

Misty: What’s going on?

Shedinja: Shed.

Misty turns to face Hansen’s Shedinja, and quickly recoils.  Shedinja now starts to charge a solarbeam.

May: Torchic–

Misty: Starmie, thunder!

Shedinja fires solarbeam as both Starmie launch thunder directly at it.  The attacks collide, in a mushroom cloud, which doesn’t appear to affect Shedinja, but throws May, Misty, Max, and their pokémon into the air.  Shedinja now immediately shoots out of the smoke, starting to charge solarbeam again.  Misty has her Starmie attack it using rapid spin.  Rapid spin does nothing to Shedinja, however the Starmie are too fast for Shedinja to hit with a solarbeam, and as a result it misses, firing solarbeam into the side of a nearby cliff, triggering a minor earthquake as everyone crashes to the ground.  Misty’s Starmie land on their feet in front of her.

Misty: Both of you, hydro pump!

Misty’s Starmie both follow her instructions and launch Hydro Pump at Shedinja, but these attacks seem blocked by some kind of energy field around Shedinja, which makes it glow slightly reddish.  Shedinja now fires another solarbeam at Misty, May, and Max, which causes a huge explosion upon impact, almost completely ignoring Torchic’s ember attack.  All are launched up in the air again, as a large part of the edge of the maze is destroyed.  The force of this blast is enough to launch Togepi out of Misty’s arms.

Shedinja remains behind, unaffected by the blast, although the debris kicked up by the blast has caused it to loose track of Togepi and it’s target.

New Scene()

Benjy and Bayleef are walking with Bayleef sniffing the ground, when both are caught off-guard due to the ground shaking from the second explosion.  Bayleef starts to run, but Benjy recalls him.

Benjy: Where did that come from.

Benjy now closes his eyes trying to pinpoint the source of the quake.

Yami Benjy: Benjy, does that actually work?

Benjy: Got it.

Benjy opens his eyes, and darts off in the direction that he’s determined the earthquake came from.

New Scene()

/# Note: The garden looks different than it does in the original pokémon version, specifically the planter beds are higher up, and the entire garden is near the top of a hill. #/

In the middle of a large garden of raised planter beds containing flowers, a teen-aged lady in a blue dress is busy watering.  The planter beds are arranged in curving rows with a small stream running down the middle of each.  As the lady in blue is watering, Togepi, heavily injured, floats down the middle of the stream, gently bumping into some lily pads.  The girl in blue suddenly looks up for her watering, and stares at Togepi in surprise.

With trembling hands, she reaches down and quickly, yet gently, pulls Togepi out of the water, gently drying it on her robe.  As she does, Togepi opens it’s eyes slightly.

Lady_in_blue: No way…

The lady in blue looks around quickly.

Lady_in_blue: No way…

The lady in blue starts to walk quickly along the planters, leaving her watering can behind.

Lady_in_blue: L-lady Miranda?  Lady Miranda?!

As the lady in blue turns the (gradual) corner, An older woman in brown watering the plants in a larger planter comes into view.

Lady_in_blue: Lady Miranda!

The older lady looks up.

Miranda: What’s the matter Sarah?

Lady_in_blue: Look!

Miranda straightens her glasses as the lady in blue (Sarah) reveals Togepi in her arms.

Sarah: I found one!

Miranda: Where?

Sarah: He was floating in the fountain injured.

Togepi is now clinging to Sarah’s dress.

Miranda: Why is it injured?

Sarah: I don’t know.  Do you think he got into a fight with something?

Miranda: I’ve never heard of a Togepi fighting.

Miranda suddenly looks at the sky nervously.

Miranda: We should go inside.

Sarah: Why the–

Miranda: Never mind.

New Scene()

A man wearing a crown walks down the hall with another man, wearing a top hat.

Man_with_crown: I’m concerned about his loyalty too, Al.  But I’m not going to act on something that might be completely unfounded.

Al (the man wearing the top hat) rolls his eyes.  As the two men continue walking, a maid rushes up to them.

Maid: Your majesty!  Princess Sarah found a Togepi!

Man_with_crown King: You see Al?  All your worrying wasn’t needed.

Al sighs.

Al: Maybe…

New Scene()

Hansen is in the room with Team Rocket, and brushing the dirt off of himself.

Meowth: Um, Doctor…

Hansen: You three stay here.

Team Rocket stare at Hansen pleadingly.

Hansen: Some of the other officials are already growing suspicious, so this needs to be done delicately.  A quality which you three lack.

With this, Hansen puts on his robe and exits the room, locking Team Rocket inside the building without them realizing it.

New Scene()

In a semi-fancy parlor with windows looking out onto the garden, Togepi sits on a pillow with Princess Sarah seated nearby.  Togepi stares at the ceiling, wrapped in bandages.  Miranda watches them pleased, and hands Sarah a feather, which Sarah shows to Togepi.  Togepi doesn’t react to this, aside from blinking a couple of times.

Sarah: You think something happened to it?

Miranda: I don’t know dear.  It’s not acting like I remember Togepi’s acting when I was a girl.

Sarah looks slowly from Togepi to Miranda, and a knock resounds on the door.

Sarah: Oh, come in.

The door opens, and Al steps in with the King right behind him.

King: The maids tell me you found a Togepi…

Sarah nods, and points it out to the King, who gasps.

King: What happened to it?

Miranda: We’re not sure.  Sarah found it floating like that in the fountain.

The king turns to Al and winks at him.

King: Don’t start generating any conspiracy theories now.

Al winks back to the king.

Al: I don’t generate, I just connect dots.

Miranda: Al, you’ll check the area right?

Al nods.

Miranda: It was just down below us.

Al nods and bows slightly to Miranda.

Al: Thank you.

Al now bows slightly to the King.

Al: Please allow me to excuse myself.

New Scene()

Benjy is walking down one of the streets with Pixielite by his shoulder.  Benjy looks around.

Benjy: And now the trail grows cold…

Pixielite: Ixie!

Benjy asks Pixielite if it found something, and Pixielite chirps and flies around his head, and then into the distance, and Benjy rushes after it down the sidewalk to an intersection of two roads paved with concrete and plants.  As Benjy looks around, Pixielite flies around his head twice and then off at a 90º angle down one of the cross streets.  Benjy continues to follow Pixielite as it buzzes around his head one more time  at the next intersection and leads Benjy across the street.

Pixielite now spins around and flaps it’s wings, beeping.  It then points with it’s tail to Misty, May, and Max about 100 feet in the distance as they turn a corner.  Benjy starts to run towards them.

Benjy: May!  Max!

As Benjy races along the sidewalk, he is unable to cross the street because of a large carriage drawn by two winged unicorn, the sight of which causes Benjy to stumble backwards.

Benjy: W-what are…

Yami Benjy: Unicrown.  I don’t know much about them, but they’re known as "the spiral chariot."  And yes, they can really fly.

The traffic light turns green and the Unicrown-drawn carriage proceeds across the cross street, allowing Benjy to cross the street behind it.  As soon as Benjy does, he takes off down the sidewalk

Benjy: Where’d they go…

Benjy: May!  Max!

Benjy coughs as he runs, and nearly stumbles, swallowing hard, before slowing down and sending Pixielite after them.  Benjy now sighs loudly.

Benjy: I’ll probably meet them by the end of the block there…

At this point, QST.camera shifts to showing Pixielite as it flies over the rooftops towards May, Max, and Misty.  After watching them from a distance, Pixielite zips up to them walking along a sidewalk.  As Pixielite approaches them, it beeps, startling Misty, who reaches for a poké ball to defend herself.

Max: Misty stop!  It’s Benjy’s!

May: You know where he is?

Pixielite beeps and flies around in a circle, leading May, Max, and Misty back the way they came.

New Scene()

In a garden (similar to the one where Sarah found Togepi in the original Pokémon™ show), Misty is looking around desperately while May and Max are examining the plants.

Benjy’s voice: Um–

May, Max, and Misty all look up to see Benjy approaching, almost out of breath.  Benjy starts to collapse, but before he can, the millennium gameboy advance emits a pulse of light.

Yami Benjy: May!  Max!

Max: Benjy!

Yami Benjy: Where’s Togepi…

Max starts to explain what happened, but as he gets to the part of the explosion, Al steps out from behind a curtain of vines, startling all four.

Yami Benjy: Who are you?

Al: Mystery solved.

Al: We found your Togepi.

New Scene()

Misty bursts into the entry hall of the palace building, causing two maids playing some kind of card game to jump up and rush towards her as she rushes inside.  Misty quickly pulls out a poké ball, ready to fight the maids, whom quickly take out poké balls of their own in response.

Max: Misty, wait!

Misty: Our of my way!

Maid: One doesn’t just simply barge into the royal foyer.

#Meme_Reference:

Al now quickly leaps into the room, followed by Benjy.

Al: Calm down please.

Maid: Relax Al, we’ll handle this.

Al: You don’t need to–don’t!  That’s the trainer of the Togepi Sarah found!

Both maids take two steps backwards nervously, and Misty advances them, before darting past both of them.  Al darts after her.

Al: Excuse me–

Misty rushes up the stairs at the end of the Hall.

Misty: I’ve got to get there before he does…

Misty now darts around a corner, as Benjy, May, and Max begin to talk to the maids.

New Scene()

In the upstairs lobby, the king jumps as a furious pounding is heard on the door.  Al’s voice follows this.

Al’s voice: Please calm yourself, excuse me.

King: Al?

Sarah: What did you dig up?

Al’s voice: That Togepi already has a trainer.  She’s at the door.

The knocking now stops, and Al opens the door so Misty can step inside the room, before following Misty.

Misty: Togepi!

Misty rushes towards Togepi, which seems to give Togepi some energy.  Behind her, Al and the King begin to whisper.

Al: Where’s Hansen? (whisper)

King: I don’t know, I sent him a text about a half hour ago.  I don’t know what’s keeping him…  (whisper)

At this point, May, Max, and Benjy poke their heads in the doorway.

New Scene()

A tumbleweed blows down a dusty street not far from the palace.  Coal is on one side, and Hansen is on the other.  Both stare the other down.
