Tournament Rules

Although the Trigamon PCG is based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading and Official Card Games, the rules that govern tournaments are wildly different. There are several reasons for these changes. While some changes are common sense, others reflect the satirical nature of the card game itself. Finally, other changes from Konami's rules are designed to allow the tournaments to be more inclusive of people with disabilities.

In general, when something is unknown due to player error, the situation can always be resolved with the method of quantum superposition: all possible scenarios are equally and simultaneously valid. Both players can win and lose the same Duel or Match.

Marked Cards
- It is legal to mark cards, however how your cards are marked is public knowledge. If you mark your cards, your opponent has the right to look through your Deck and understand how things are marked before the match begins.
- The above does NOT apply to small unintentional creases.
- If you have a small number of cards marked, your opponent only can see the cards that are marked, and not the entire Deck.
Player-Made Cards (Create-A-Cards)
- Player-made cards can be legal, if they conform to the specific Trigamon Create-A-Card Guidelines. (these will be posted soon)
- Alternatively, you can ask to have create-a-cards approved individually by Trigamon HQ.
- To be legal, player-made cards MUST be copyright by the person who thought them up, and must list the year that they were made as the copyright date. This helps us if a ruling must be made (especially if it's a weird one).
Tokens
- Tokens need to be clearly marked. (different protector, different language, et cetera)
- You do NOT have to write "Token" on the card.
- Judges can change what acts as a token if things are confusing.
Proxies
- Frowned upon, but not technically disallowed.
- Proxies should be clearly marked as what they are supposed to be, and also marked as proxies.
- Proxies should be kept to an absolute minimum
Injunctions by judges
- These come in the forms of Rulings, Penalties, and Disqualifications
- When a Judge issues an injunction, it starts a chain.
- The injunction can be chained to anything Speed 4 or lower, however, Speed 2 cards can be activated in response to the injunction.
- Rulings in Trigamon do not give a time extension.
- Judges cannot disqualify people that are not enrolled in the tournament (or forcibly enroll them just for the sake of disqualification), as this doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.
- Players ejected from the venue for safety reasons are NOT (necessarily) disqualified.
- Be on the lookout for cards that block disqualification and re-write rulings!
Matches and End-of-Round
- There are three (3) kinds of matches:
  - Best 2 of 3 (normal tournament)
  - Best 3 of 5 (super tournament)
  - 70% victory rate of 4+ games (validation mode)
- PCG matches can are allowed to end in a DRAW. A tiebreaker will only be performed if the players have agreed on a reasonable tiebreaker procedure beforehand.
- Players can decide on what to do when time is called before the match, otherwise default procedures will be applied: the game will continue unless it has to stop. If the game has to stop, the Duel result will be INTERRUPTED.
- If one player had a clear path to victory when time is called (i.e. it's obvious just by looking at the game that one player would win, then that player wins)
When a ruling is made, players can:
- Chain card effects to this ruling. These effects will resolve before the ruling goes into effect, however this may cause another ruling to handed out as part of the chain.
- Appeal: first to the head judge, and then to Trigamon HQ.
- Issue a challenge with a logical argument as to why the ruling is incorrect or nonsensical.
  - An impartial party must then logically evaluate the argument(s) and adjust the ruling as need be.
  - The players can either accept the new ruling or issue a new challenge with a new logical argument(s).
  - There is no limit to how many new logical arguments can be submitted.
- Note that ruling questions do not give a time extension in Trigamon. Instead, judges may forfeit their ability to rule on an issue if they take two long. In this case, treat the unknown ruling as a superposition of all possible rulings and play accordingly.
Issues and Penalties:
- Intentional Delay (ID)
  - Known in Yu-Gi-Oh! as "Slow Play"
  - Defined as stalling for no reason other than to increase the time the game takes
  - Excludes medical and psychological issues, as well as taking a couple moments to think through your options.
  - Penalty: Opponent heals life points while waiting (1-10 LP/second) OR ID player takes a minuscule amount of damage. (No more than 1 LP/second)
- Stonewalling (S)
  - Player outright refuses to progress the game.
  - Player takes damage between 3 and 10 LP/second
- Tardiness (T)
  - Excused for medical, biological, psychological, and sociological issues (includes restroom, traffic, et cetera)
  - Tardy player takes a 100 LP/minute penalty until starting LP would be 3000
  - If player is significantly late, match can be cancelled
- Deck Construction Errors (DCE)
  - Note that Trigamon uses no deck list. If Deck is legal, then it can be used.
  - DCE: Not enough cards (Just add cards to the Deck)
  - DCE: Forbidden/Limited List Errors, Custom Card Errors (Just replace the invalid cards)
  - DCE: Too Many Cards (remove extra cards)
  - DCE: Player doesn't have cards to replace missing: (Tournament should provide cards that at bare minimum, can be used by the Deck in a specific scenario. These cards should be compatible with the Deck at least on a surface level, or generic enough to have common usage)
- Conduct Malfunctions (CM)
  - General freedom of speech is protected.
  - Consequences are to be applied in such a way to maximize safety.
  - Drunkenness and intoxication are treated as disabilities.
- Gameplay Errors (GE)
  - Fix the Gamestate by judge or player agreement
  - Illegal Retraction
    - Note that some retractions are legal, specifically, if the entire Gamestate can be completely reverted, and the player doing the retraction has gained no new knowledge relevant to the game.
  - No Written or Computerized LP record
    - Just create a record. This is really not a big deal.
    - If LP is unknown, treat LP as a superposition of all possible values. This may cause a Duel or match to have multiple outcomes simultaneously.
  - Failure to fully reveal card
    - Just reveal the card.
    - A judge can also reveal multiple cards in the player's hand if the card added is unknown and/or cheating is suspected.
  - Accidental Deck Shuffle
    - Note that you are allowed to shuffle your Deck at any time, if the contents aren't known.
    - If cards in your Deck are known: Query Deck; put aside cards in known locations, then proceed as normal.
  - Hand Shuffled into Deck
    - If possible, restore hand and Deck, shuffling cards of which order isn't known.
    - Judge may require player to draw new hand/new partial hand with all or part of it revealed, or proceed as normal.
  - Missing maintenance cost:
    - Duel loss if and only if cost would have caused player to lose Duel.
    - Rollback if possible (shuffle to preserve Deck ignorance)
    - Judge may require a specific fix
  - Missed game mechanic: Failure to discard or extra discard:
    - Judge can increase hand size limit going forwards.
    - Approximate rollback or retroactive discard
  - Liquid Spill: Live card replacement
    - Temporary damage (cards needing to dry) requires a temporary replacement with placeholder cards, which do the same things as the cards that they are replacing. The placeholders are played as if they are the cards that they are replacing, unless a card effect requires something to be "physically printed".
    - Permanent, irreparable damage can cause the contents of the Deck to change mid-Duel. Cards are replaced with other copies, or the closest possible available replacements in terms of function if perfect copies are not available. What's closest *is debatable* and follows the live card replacement process (LCRP):
Live Card-Replacement Process (LCRP)
- While there are cards to be replaced: Player selects one damaged card and suggests a replacement with a similar function (alternatively this can be a Side Deck card)
- Judge or Opponent verifies that the card is acceptable. (Only one needs to verify) then move onto next card:
- It is important to note that the judges DO NOT have final word on replacing permanently damaged cards. In fact, NO ONE has final word on replacing permanently damaged cards. Four (4) hours are typically allotted for card replacement. Once this time limit is exceeded, the Duel is declared unfinishable and the process ends.
- Note that if you spill liquid on your own cards, downgrades are preferable to upgrades if a perfect match cannot be found. If you spill liquid on your opponent's cards, upgrades are preferable to downgrades in LCRP. LCRP permanently changes Decks.
